Comparison between MIUI 2.3.4 and Stock Froyo 2.2.1 (galaxy S)

The latest MIUI i can find is 2.2.3 and can't make any calls whatsoever, can't hear a thing. Love the MIUI it was really fast and my web browser was a lot quicker as well. So where can I get hold of the ltest MIUI and one that works with no gliches?? Thanks

this isn't done right you should have the same amount of downloaded data on both phones and everything set up the same way you can tell the one on stock has more downloads and more on its homescreens which tends to make the phone itself run slower then it would have if it had less downloads and less apps/widgets one its homescreens as the one with MIUI is... plus everyones phone is different it depends on condition of the phone and your processor too

with miui rom my galaxy s gps seems to work fine now! Quick fix and good tracking! Before I had to give up on my gps, got told from forum guys it was an "hardware design bug" and nothing could be done about it .. but it doesn't look like it anymore because this one just works for me.

@MnemonicCarrier yes you can, well depends on the version of Galaxy S2 you have the international version does have MIUI, the Epic 4G touch doesn't have it.

I'm a bit of a noob to android, how does changing the stock rom to custom one make the phone perform faster? Does it overclock the CPU and GPU? if so won't that impair battery life quite a lot ?

I've got the galaxy s plus pre ordered :)

@BackDaws the reason some custom roms make the phone faster is because custom roms remove bloatware that manufacturer made roms (is: Sense, Touch Wiz, MotoBlur) include. stock android is known to be faster than those manufacturer made roms because it too lacks bloatware.

@BackDaws have a look at some manuals, you will find them easily in the web, just typ how to root/change my rom and your phone in google..before using a custom one, you have to flash and to root your mobile, it sounds harder than it is actually....some do overclock your phone, but that's not necessary and the loss of usable time isn't that big...i'm using the milestone and it's overclocked from 550 mhz to 1.0 ghz and it's just 10%, i'm surviving it^^

I installed GALNET MIUI and OFFICIAL 1.7.15 yesterday. They are very nice, but the sound from music player is very terrible. They also can't play 720p video fluidly. Does these also happen to you??

@MrBreambeem can't say anything about the sound quality issue but it lags on 720p playback because its based on cm7. And cm7 has issues with 720p mkv playback.

... btw the ui is definitely beautiful and skily smooth, but the voice quility is very noticibly bad... bass sounds like my speaker got broken - -" happen to headset too
