ehhh....its o k but you should really work on reading the sheet music for about a week once i find the sheet music for it and learn it ill play it and put it up on my channel if you still have it then PM me...P.S we use standerd excelence book not the one you have lol
Also as a debate on the xylophone deal, this a Marimba, it typically is bigger has more and resonates more, hence the longer resonators. An Xylophone typically has shorter resonators and has a shorter sound, usually used for keeping time in professional ensembles. A vibraphone has a pedal and is made of medal and vibrates the sound for a long time and is typically used to make chords with Multi-Mallet Technique. Glockenspiel ( Bells ) is just a metallic sound that doesn't resonate.
Good Attempt, I recommend using softer mallets in the beginning, they're easier to roll with, also try doing octaves in the beginning, another thing is make a decision in your playing position. Either for the center of the bar or the very edge, I recommend the Center bar but the edge if you have a fast run where it's hard to reach the center. Also I'm not sure as it could be your mallets but i hear like a thudding noise when you hit the keys It could be from the bars hitting the wood underneath.
@steelfootballplayer A marimba is a type of xylophone. Xylophone is a general term meaning a mallet played keyboard instrument. The variations are the metalliphones, such as a vibraphone or glockenspiel, and the marimba which is usually bigger, extending into the low range, and made of very sound resonant wood.
Quite literally, xylo means wood. So no, not all mallet instruments are xylophones. You could make the argument that a marimba is a type of xlyo, but the technique used to play it can be quite different. I recommend using rear fulcrum for Marimba mallets and front for the Xylo, for example.
Connect your rolls! If your teacher was anything like my percussion instructor, he/she would hound you all day about that. Otherwise, if you don't slow down, you'll be able to do great things.
do u think u can send me a copy of that sheet music what grade are you in well this year im going into be a freshman at my highschool but when i was in 7th grade we played that song and it was awesome
nice job.. im a percussionist as well you should work on rebound strokes so you are able to pull more sound out of the note and work on even rolls.. besides that it was good
what kind of mallets are those? dont know much about marimba, but ive only seen the kind with hard plastic and the yarnish type... those look like timpani mallets, kinda.
its not THAT easy... the way its written if you read it off sheet music, itd be a pain in the ass... its suppose to make "suspense" but it just makes it a bitch to play : /
Well... post a video... prove it. idk why you have commented on this video 4 times to say how easy it is and stuff... i dont care. what do you want, a pat on the back???
friedoyster, with all due respect, this song is a pain in the ass if you actually try to play it at the right tempo with the right dynamis and crap. no one really cares that you figured out the notes if you cant play it well like this guy.
If you could memorize it, and get the speed up, it would be fantastic. Not that this isn't good. This is pretty good, but more speed would add more excitement. Good job though.

Yeah, i know its a marimba. I figured most people would know what a xylophone was but not a marimba so its just in the title.

@justin2867 Well a marimba is a type of xylophone.

You were actually correct. A marimba IS a xylophone. It would be the same as referring to a bongo as a drum.

@steelfootballplayer "hard to explain"...you cant tell if its a marimba or a xylophone if you cant explain how, because the difference is clear..
x360z0cker 1 year ago
@steelfootballplayer but in those lower tones, its hard to tell for me, because it could also be a warmer sounding xylophone...
anyhow, i too think its a marimba! xD

lol i know, i did it cuz i dont think anyone knows what a marimba is 0.o
justin2867 3 years ago
yeah you could have said it was a marimba but then explian in the info that a marimba is basicly a xylophone with wodden keys instead of metal keys
Friedoyster3 3 years ago
whoa there buddy. Vibraphones have metal keys. Marimba's are a mixture of wood and fiberglass. Xylophones are entirely fiberglass.
