how soft of mallets do you play with? using a softer maallet make the bar vibrate more so it soungs like your rolling much much faster:)

Also as a debate on the xylophone deal, this a Marimba, it typically is bigger has more and resonates more, hence the longer resonators. An Xylophone typically has shorter resonators and has a shorter sound, usually used for keeping time in professional ensembles. A vibraphone has a pedal and is made of medal and vibrates the sound for a long time and is typically used to make chords with Multi-Mallet Technique. Glockenspiel ( Bells ) is just a metallic sound that doesn't resonate.

Good Attempt, I recommend using softer mallets in the beginning, they're easier to roll with, also try doing octaves in the beginning, another thing is make a decision in your playing position. Either for the center of the bar or the very edge, I recommend the Center bar but the edge if you have a fast run where it's hard to reach the center. Also I'm not sure as it could be your mallets but i hear like a thudding noise when you hit the keys It could be from the bars hitting the wood underneath.

Quite literally, xylo means wood. So no, not all mallet instruments are xylophones. You could make the argument that a marimba is a type of xlyo, but the technique used to play it can be quite different. I recommend using rear fulcrum for Marimba mallets and front for the Xylo, for example.

whoa there buddy. Vibraphones have metal keys. Marimba's are a mixture of wood and fiberglass. Xylophones are entirely fiberglass.
