  • The earliest modern version of this song that I know is from Chad Mitchell. "When I was a young man I used to seek pleasure; when I was a young man I used to drink ale." My favorite verse is: "Find six pretty ladies to bear up my coffin; find six pretty ladies to sing me a song. Let each of them carry a bunch of wild roses to lay on my coffin as they walk along." Wish I knew the older source for this song.

  • I really like the what happens when you listen to lonely lonely before this like how it the album (let it die)... first two seconds of this song still sounds like lonely lonely. But yeah, i really like this song.

  • I only knew Nina Simones version before this, Feists is also a great version, love the twangy guitar.
