I need to know why fighting is allowed in hockey but not in other sports. Are there any consequences? In the NBA, players are tossed if they shove. If a punch is thrown, they are looking at heavy fines and suspensions with no pay. There are litigations and proceedings which keep the players off the court. I personally feel that fighting shouldn't be allowed in any sport. It is teaching teaching kids nothing about sportsmanship.

Fighting has been allowed in hockey since the beginning, it's part of the sport. You get 5 minutes each & then your right back out there. If you instigate a fight you get an extra 2 minute penalty & are normally thrown out of the game.

I love it, it's exciting, it also is a better way to let the players get their aggressions out, rather than to start swinging their sticks at each other or drive each other's heads into the boards...which would happen if the league were ever to ban fighting.

I just feel there is a double standard with the consequences. I'm an NBA fan. Like most people, I have a morbid curiosity when it comes to seeing a good fight.
