  • l had this a few weeks ago and.it's weird knowing this happened in my shoulder. still sore and hits hurts if I move it wrong so im just waiting for physical therapy

  • GAH! im scheduling this surgery, along with a SLAP tear repair and rotator cuff repair all at once. im terrified- not of the surgery, but how im going to manage as a stay at home mom to a 2 and 4 year old as i recover! though, watching this video does give me the heebie jeebies, too. blech.

  • Just returned from Dr. Received a cortisone injection. Report back next week. If successful, will do some PT. If not, arthroscopic removal of bone spur will be next. Thanks for the great video. I really think it's helpful to know what is in store. Luck to everyone who's experiencing this condition and the surgery. Do you exercises! Although back expercises are what initiated my shoulder problem. Happy New Year everyone.

  • Hello, I recently had this done on my right shoulder. Its about a 2 hour surgery. Youll get general anesthia, includes a breathing tube when your knocked out. You will also get a nerve block, this does hurt , keeps you numb about 12 hours. The weirdest feeling ever. This surgery does hurt like hell after and you need someone to take care of you for at least 2 days. I couldnt get out of bed by myself ,eat , go the bathroom. You will need to take your pain meds religiously for the first week. TLC

  • @kalisthilaire Just had it done 6 days ago, and while I just feel sore, I will agree that the nerve block is a bizaare feeling!

  • It is not absolutely necessary to take narcotics in recovery. I just had this exact surgery done 6 days ago, and though I was given a prescription for narcotics, they were not necessary. The discomfort after the surgery was on par with the pain I was having due to impingement before the surgery. As surgeries go, it was a cakewalk. I have almost full range of motion in my shoulder 6 days out.

  • Is is absolutely necessary to take narcotics in recovery from this. Isn't there an nonnarcotic medication available after having one shoulder done. At what severity is the after surgery pain?

  • glad i watched this when im going to have it done in 4 hours lol, cant wait to move with no pain again had this for 2 years

  • I just found out that I have large bone spurs in both of my shoulders that are going into my Rotator cuffs. It is the same on both sides. Why would the doc refer me to get impigment exercises if the exercises do not remove the bone spurs? Wouldn't the exercises cause more damager? Can anyone answer this? Thanks.

  • Compared to how shoulder surgery was done years ago, arthroscopic procedures are a piece of cake, I had 4 different problems and spent 4 hours in surgery. The pain was minimal and the stiffeness was reduced by two months of therapy ice packs and electrical therapy. Had I waited another year, my shoulder would have been permanently

deprived of strength and felxibility. Glad I had it done and can go back to swimming and body building.

  • @Zamigirl How long was it before you could get back to the gym? I'm having spurs and some small tears fixed in a few months when my insurance is sorted.

  • I get this done in 36 hours...I wasn't nervous until yesterday and now I'm really getting nervous! I'm also worried about the IV lol, I HATE hand IVs! But for anyone who's had this, how long is recovery? I'm a lifeguard and I want to miss as LITTLE time working as possible! :)

  • Excellent example

  • this is what im going to get tomorow god save me im nervos!!

  • Thanks for posting...I had this done yesterday. I'm pretty sore, but I already have greater range of motion when I went for my first Post Op Physical Therapy session this morning.

  • Thank you for posting this, I have been referred for on Ortho consult for a bone spur in my right shoulder. This is very helpful to understand what the potential might be.

  • This video is great information. I just had a bone spur removed from my left shoulders a week ago. I started PT the next day. I have had very little discomfort. I can already tell a huge difference. I haven't had to take any perscription pain meds. My doctor gave me a CD recording of my surgery but I didn't quite understand much of what I was looking at. My doc has approved me to schedule the same surgery on my right shoulder. I can't wait. The relief I feel is great.

  • How long does it usually takes to recover and is it painful once coming out of surgery?

  • Thanks so much. Just found out I have a bone spur in my shoulder as well. Looking at surgery.

  • Thank you, Dr. Diaz.. this gives me a greater understanding and quells my fears of the surgery I'm facing.

  • Excelent explanation of procedure; tnanks for posting

  • coollll????????????????????
