This was well intentioned, but biased by the fact they never interview the importers. The outcome is a complete disconnect, bordering on hoax. It costs Ghana techs $15+ for each computer imported, there is only a couple of dollars in scrap. The ones at the dump are takebacks from the city and had been in use for a decade. Sad PBS fell for this.

never throw away your hard drive
or at least, shred it before you do so.

Oh, that's definitely not good...
Better go check what's on the computer: bank statements, etc....
