When paganini played this at one of his concerts, all of the three strings of his violin broke while he was playing it, so he had to make use of the other notes on his last string. And at the last stroke, Paganini majestically swang his bow and his last string broke.

this is such a great piece of music. I can't get over the performance. I've since learned how to play this on electric guitar, but the subtle nuances present in this rendition really bring it to life. fantastic and breathtaking. whether he's shredding or playing slow melodies, Paganini was certainly a master of music

A word must be said for the excellent quality of accompaniment here by Dutoit and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. On so many older recordings with great violinists, the orchestra is always the weakest link by not keeping in time or playing out of tune.

It's really magical when the soloist and orchestra gel together well, and this is a prime example.

If you haven't listened to the Paganini 6-CD set by Accardo and Dutoit, PLEASE do so. You'll keep coming back to it again and again.
