I couldn't be a Cavie being a girl, but the Cavaliers are my favorite.

I am a Junior in high school & a trumpet player. 2 weeks ago I had my first corps audition. It was the best I had ever played, & Marching was great. But then I got home to my rejection email. I was broken. I watched this video, and found the will to pick my horn back up & practice. Now I am practicing for next year, I will return better than ever. Thank you for inspiring me with your passion so that I can continue with mine.

@brians9141 I'm not hating or bagging or even offended. I'm mostly just doubting. I play trombone so I don't get caught up in the "I'm better than you at trumpet" crap. What it really is is that I just don't understand how such outlandish claims can be made by people on Youtube. If you had proof, I'd love to give you props but without it you're just another kid saying that they're the best trumpet player ever.

@brians9141 Isn't that hard? I'd say that both playing a double G and lip trilling are pretty damn hard. I know plenty of college trumpet players, who aren't slackers, and have a hard time even hitting that note, much less playing cleanly up to it. And as for lip trilling, I myself have been struggling to learn to lip trill for a year or so and I have to assume that it would be as hard for an equally proficient trumpet player. The only people that I know who can are music majors.

Compress your air upwards so it shoots out like a Jet and tighten your corners or your lips and keep the middle, the part that's in your mouthpiece, completely relaxed. Watch Maynard play "Dont let the sun go down on me" and when it gets a close up of his embouchure just pause and look how he plays and repeat. At the very least just compress and relax and range will be easier than ever haha

@aj508746 There are exercises to help if you're close but it just takes time and development.. some people have it and some people dont. Just relax and go, the less tension you have the better off you are. My first season I could play high but nothing like this, 2nd season I came back with the mindset to do it and developed quick.
