@transfoby he's actually better than hawkings - he's impressed by the things he doesn't know, as opposed to hawking. hawking's "scientific reasoning" has concluded there's no "greater being." an extreme position with no scientific evidence to support it. hawking seems to think he knows better than others.
@tearmann The concept of a "greater being" is irrelevant in science, that's why. There's no evidence to support a creator being, so why include it when there ARE other theories that ARE quantifiable and testable? Hawkings stated that the creation of the universe was able to be explained "without the need" of a creator God. His "scientific reasoning" is far, far, far greater than yours will ever be, do you shoot down his work because he undermines your own personal faith...? I suspect so...
@tearmann he thinks he knows better than others because he Does, he's Stephen Hawking. Brian Cox is probably more PR than Hawking; like Carl Sagan in a way. But I doubt he has quite the supreme determination that allowed Hawking to survive forty years longer than his doctors predicted
@tearmann "sad that you think only the quantifiable and testable are important. 300 years ago what we believed to be quantifiable and testable would have us living in the 18th Century contstructs. guess your science lessons have led you to believe we know all today. what we don't know and understand is what science is about. sure you're happy in your trailer."
Your ad hom attacks reveal all about your personality "mate". ONLY the testable and quantifiable is important in science!
@tearmann Who's talking about living "300 years ago"? What a nonsensical argument. You just won't admit that the fact that Hawkings stated that creation didn't require a creator intelligence has pissed you off because it undermines/disagrees with your beliefs. "No scientific evidence to support it"? OF COURSE THERE ISN'T, IT'S NOT IN THE REMIT OF SCIENCE TO PROVE QUESTIONS OF FAITH YOU FUCKING PRICK! IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING, ANYTHING ABOUT SCIENCE YOU'D REALISE THAT!!!! What a prick....
@Jude2Mahoney exactly the point, "it's not in the remit of science to prove questions of faith" so why did hawkings step into a realm that's not his bailiwick? science keeps moving forward, we keep discovering and testing, and yet there are questions science can't answer.
@Jude2Mahoney glad to see you're not a bigot, nor small-minded. think brian cox would disagree with you, and he's from a country that has a monarch as its head-of-state.
@granskare Yeah, they wanted to get younger people interested. They use him as a smokescreen for one of the most dangerous experiments in the history. They want to reproduce the bin bang...Do find out what that may entail. They chose him just like they have chosen Obama.
@transfoby I remember one of the Mock the week episodes about the thing at cern...didn't involve Brian but it was a laugh...TED talks also have a lecture by Brian...wait, I chose Obama...somebody else chose the ex-keyboard player from Dare and D:Ream :)
@granskare Yeah, they try to sanitize any news about Cern. They chose this fool so that people like you can relate to all of this pseudo-science. For fuck sake, he is being interviewed while driving a car. That should give you a clue how much this idiot thinks about safety
Whats really weird is that all my family are from Oldham area, so his accent is soo comforting for me. Hence why I learn more.
That and he's a sexy beast ;D
