  • Remember hearing this song for the first time when Stand by Me came out, and fell in love with it.

  • @LittleMissMiffy all,the people you named are lame but queen is dope I like the flash gordan theme I listen to it before my games I am the only black guy at my school who likes queen I saw the movie a month ago it looked like puppets ha ha

  • @tacovstorpe man all kids at my school know this song

  • just stand, stand by me

  • @tacovstorpedo I know, I'm the exact same way! I like all of the music from that time. Today's music just basically blows!

  • Love this song

  • Geoff Rowley!!!!!

  • if you want chuck norris to kill you, dislike this video -_-

  • I know why because they think that Rap is music but I like to set the record straight that is not music like the 50's and the 60's that was music. Rap is just loud noise and it sound bad with all the bad language too.

  • @fernpuff Not all rap is bad and it ain't just noise, you're just not listening to the music, have you ever even tried to listen to rap? Don't hate on rap like that idiot Rush Limbaugh, don't be an ignorant fool!

  • @fernpufi Ok... Look i love this music very much, but i have to say not all rap is bad. Please don't assume so...

  • sometimes I feel like the 1950s-70s had the best music.

  • Shame this isn't actually the drifters!!!

  • hey isnt "beautiful girl" by sean kingstone ,ahahah !!!

  • @BizzarousTurtles Whats your point? You do know this came first right?

  • @Hickk567 yep,I laugh because the artists of now need to look in the past for create new tubes , i dont say it is bad but..... where is the originallity?

  • @BizzarousTurtles I agree, I thought you meant something else llool

  • I love old songs how come they don't make them like this anymore :(

  • I miss you!

  • is it me, or in that picture does the middle guy look like Arnold Schwarzenegger?

  • watch bolder gazet van antwerpen

  • casi siempre se la canto a mis perritas y mi novio... Me encanta este tema!!!!

  • @BrokenHome1987 it sure is

  • Prince Royale killed it!

  • I still think john lennon's version was better.

  • @bidanimefan365 no its not

  • @bidanimefan365

As much of a fan as I am, Lennons version sucked. Hard.

  • For one thing, the above photo of The Drifters is not the Drifters who recorded "Stand By Me"; second thing is that the lead voice on this rendition does not sound like Ben E. King?!!@@# Ben E. King had lots of vibrato in his register, and the lead voice on this rendition just doesn't cut the mustard, so to speak!

  • This is one of the best songs ever and is in so many movies lolz :D

  • "Rock and Roll" is just another name for what the performers called "Rhythm and Blues" after World War II. Rhythm and Blues was created in places like New Orleans, St. Louis, Chicago and other cities after World War II. It was born of many musical origins, combinations, and influences that had occurred during both World Wars. When Bill Haley and the Comets released "Rock Around The Clock" in January 1955, Rhythm and Blues became "officially" called ."Rock and Roll." Otherwise known as "sex."

  • @gandolph7poet your partially correct. Most of what we call rock and roll started with the likes of Muddy Waters in Chicago. Many a music group was sued and paid the piper(Muddy) for his rights to the original musical scores. To mention a few is the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Beach Boys....

  • A common chord progression doesnt make something unorigional lol GOOD Song btw

  • why do they never make songs like this anymore? I'm 13 and none of my friends ever know what the heck i'm singing whenever i start belting out the hits of the 50's and 60's! how unthoughtful of them!

  • @tacovstorpedo Well, be very happy that you have parents that exposed you to this wonderful music :D

  • @tacovstorpedo While you're waiting for your friends to develop their taste in music, you should give the 80's a chance as well. Try Queen, Culture Club, Cyndi Lauper etc.

  • @tacovstorpedo you have class keep singing

  • split personality maybe?..reminds me of Jan in the Brady Bunch when she goes psycho! "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha"

  • @lilmissmachiavelli lmfao you replied to urself LoL

  • This song is amazing <3

  • back when music was made with heart and soul, its sad to think a computer has replaced all aspects of making music

  • @TheInvader171 *cough* skrillex *cough*

  • How could anyone possibly not like this song??

  • Ha 1 of the best songs of all time and my fav its by black people (not to be fuck up when i say black people)and its not rap

  • See this is WWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better then baby

  • Geezzz . . I actually have that album . . : >)

  • @lilmissmachiavelli hahahaahah you replied to yourself !!

  • im 14 and would never dream of liking this music but i fell upon it and i love it

  • @lilmissmachiavelli YOU DON'T SAY

  • @lilmissmachiavelli I wouldn't say that unoriginal is the best way to describe it. There were plenty of very original tunes written in the fifties and sixties. With that being said, in those times there was a certain standard, an expected structure if you will, that all pop songs were to follow. Straying from this formula even in the slightest could destroy the hit potential of the song. This is probably why this generation of music can be boring or unoriginal to people.

  • ^^

  • How can I stand by you if you keep DRIFTING?

  • @mastercory123 I see what ya did there

  • @mastercory123 they cant drift with you smart-ass

  • @mastercory123 phisher? nice.... im high, didnt even click on it, thats how sad that was

  • 60 people dislike this song

  • FUCK YOU PRINCE ROYCE

  • @outtacontrol24 ugghhh!! i saw his version on tv. now i dont want to download the original!!! aahhh!!!! 3:

  • @lilmissmachiavelli your a wierdo.

  • I'm going to play a game start with the greatest hits of the 1920's and through related videos make your way to the 2000's. who's with me?

  • @aadeebindy That actually sounds pretty fun.

  • Goodness. I know all their music, and quite a bit before marriage, love it. Such a beautiful sound. I will click 50 likes.

  • why the hell are there 59 dislikes? who the fuck could dislike this song?

  • @DeeMartin3StarNation evil people

  • @DeeMartin3StarNation Brain dead zombies

  • @lilmissmachiavelli And the fact that artists then wrote and sung about real things, real issues. Prejudice, love, heartace, all sorts of things. now its SEX SEX SEX. artists then didnt need autotune, many would record their songs in one take. u can hear the imperfections in every song, which to me, makes them perfect. that is why it has survived.

  • i really like this and other pepole think that old music is boreing but for

    me it is not

  • @lilmissmachiavelli it's funny that you go through the years searching for songs with cursing in them. I can think of at least 10 songs by 2 LIve Crew alone that are worse than anything you've mentioned

  • @Proverbs1533 haha AGREED! LOL

  • @lilmissmachiavelli i dont mean 100% no swearing but ALOT less then now a days. thats what i meant

  • @ Old music is better because there is emotion in it ... YOU CAN FEEL the music running through your veins like your own blood and your heart races to the beat of the music... where is that feeling when listening todays mainstream crap lady gaga & co. shit?

  • @m4ryhu4n4 you forgot old music is better because there was no autotune or digitally fixing singers' voices just raw talent

  • @nikiyahaston92 So true.

  • Great song!

  • i dont even know what to say in my comment.

  • @lilmissmachiavelli you're dissing yourself? wow....

  • Why does the top-comment-girl talk to herself?

  • @MrMunari77 ROFL!!!

  • @MrMunari77 inherent madness perharps?

  • @MrMunari77 well sir thats because shes fucking crazy.

  • @MrMunari77 Some people do that when they add on to what they were saying before.

  • @MrMunari77 this cracked me up.

  • @MrMunari77 LMAO!!!

  • @lilmissmachiavelli Okay so what music these days are going to survive the 'test of time'? lady gaga?

  • REAL MUSIC FROM BACK IN THE DAY ! RAP TO ME IS NOT MUSIC.

  • i just relized something, music back in the 50s,60s,70s, and most of the 80s there was NO swearing in music. im not a fag or anything or a pussy but i like it when theres no swearing in music. just my opinion. thats why they had the best music back then.

  • lovers, family, friends. Stand by me.

  • the people that disliked this song love mgk lol

  • @lilmissmachiavelli Honestly, you're telling me this without knowing my age. I know exactly what you are saying. My point is, think about the best of this generation and what will be legendary and inspirational for years to come. The "best" of today cannot compare to the best of the past. I think we can at least agree on that. Most of the stuff now are sampled from the past, back then they had only their originality to come up with these great works.

  • 59 people dont have anyone to stand by.....

  • Real Music

  • I am 15 years old almost 16 years old and I am like obsessed with the 50's 60's music!!! I soo like all this good music! The music today is crap and I don't like it. I want this music!! I listen to it EVERYDAY and that is NO joke! This is truly music and thses guys along with all the otehr singers at this time had true talent and put feeling, romance and soul into every song! XD

  • @lilmissmachiavelli No, i think people like old music better, because of the quality and talent displayed. In the old times, it was impossible to make it in the music business without good lyrical content and an amazing voice, also there was much more originality. What we have now, for the MOST part, is the complete opposite.

  • A great song sung at a time when their were so many great singers

  • @MEKON17 your entitled to your own opinion but...it is true

  • This is a seed in the world.. if you believe in this it is up to you to nurture what they have planted.. we are the future.. come together.. stand by me.. in the still of the night

  • My nanny sung this song to me all the time... I miss her soo much....

  • 1 complaint: too short. but still love it.!

  • Thumbs up if you like this in 2012

  • And so on .im not saying everything was perfect back then, cause it wasn't,but it was a lit better than it is today....

  • I do admit that sometimes I will catch myself listening to todays ridiculous music but old music just has so much more meaning . Basically all of the songs today are about sex. Everyone has a right to do what they want but, I think its kinda obvious that the music we listen to kinda affects the way we act- look how guys treated girls in the 50s and 60s...they had class, and so did their music...look at today, women are objects of sex and that is what the music we listen to is about. In the 50s,60s

  • @hizzydobster99 thats bullshit man

  • I love the old artists, It wasnt about color, We never associated it with color, It was just good music. Loved it and always will.. Thx for sharing :)

  • Todays music isn't the problem...It's the scumbags that BUY it. Supply and demand. Look in the mirror and my the change. I wish i was born and raised in the late 40's thru the 50's and early 60's. I'd rather live thru tough wars and hard times then this entitlement/lazy generation i live in now.

  • @icedreams5 i totally agree with you.

  • @icedreams5 im there with yah im a teen but i already hate this society i live in i would much rather live in the era of this music and see The Beatles in concert and buy my first car for 100$ rather than today ._.

  • musics not dead its just been knocked in the head by economic and generational changes.

  • @lilmissmachiavelli I hate to disagree with you. I mean you have a point, but though LOTS of people LIE about hating NSYNC and Backstreet Boys purely because they are afraid of being judged. I'm one of those people that don't care for the artists, but more for the individual songs. As long as any of the groups today have songs that stand out, they will likely be mentioned for some time still. I don't think I know many people who don't remember Bye Bye Bye and Larger Than Life

  • EH YO I'M LIKE 13 AND I HATE ALL DIS DUMB MUSIC AND I LIKE THIS OLD STUFF LOL I'M SO UNIQUE.

  • this song makes me get soo hard

  • ., .

  • what went on in the Atlantic-Atco studio I do not know but I do know when I bought the 45 it was credited to Ben E King alone not the Drifters I loved it then when I was 12 in NY I even loved the red and black label and the logo and the smell of vinyl Back then the records had a serial number scratched on by hand near the label trivia sure but a 12 year old notices every little detail at least I did about all aspects of life Fantastic song and a fantastic recording Two Jews & a Black man made it

  • Who else hears ''Beautiful Girls'' song by Sean Kingston

in this song? yep Sean sampled from this song.. i can tell lol

both songs are great tho! :)

( Yes i am young and i listen to music from the 50's and 60's too )

    Classic is awesome! :)

  • Is that a young Louis Farrakhan in the center?

  • music is only the way our minds interpret how music sounds. (last time i checked everyone was different). Therefore everyone has a different taste in music

  • :D <3

  • ahh... good old I vi IV V progression.

  • I heard Ben E. King's version first.. Sticking to that one =/ Older sister and I are doing a puzzle together, We were in the mood for oldies! :)

  • music today is garbage

  • This rock and roll is the devil's music!

  • @Stoperand if thats the case every genre of music is the devils music because Satan,Lucifer,The Devil was the Angel of music,& Music has a twofold purpose. To glorify God or not, it’s as simple as that. As we have seen, music was initially created for that purpose up until Satan’s rebellion. What he has done with music from that point on becomes a whole other issue.

  • i swear i was born in the wrong era

  • @Imp3rf3ctAng3lXOXO ...the era of angry white people and broke-ass niggers...sounds like heaven

  • @Imp3rf3ctAng3lXOXO

  • @Imp3rf3ctAng3lXOXO ya i here you i wish i was born in the 50s

  • @Imp3rf3ctAng3lXOXO Honestly, shut up. I can't stand when people say that shit. Now we can listen to THIS and MUCH MORE great music because of the internet. Who knows what the future holds?

  • @IronyBeaver Yeah get mad because they said they were born in the wrong era. Grow up kiddo.

  • @LiiGhTz0uTx First of all, I'm not mad, and second of all: they should grow up and realize it's much better to have access to much more great music than being stuck in a time with just one genre.
