yeah, I agree, James Horner is one of the classics.

Horner, Zimmer, Poledouris, Williams, and Goldsmith (not featured on your list Celt, but up there in my books) I view as the best composers of modern cinema.

Though, I prefer the Crimson Tide soundtrack to the Rock, and I feel Zimmer's work in the Last Samurai is often disregarded.

Brad fiedel is the credited artist because it is his theme, this is merely the orchestrated version. at the time of creating this I did not have proper files available to me at the time.

The Predator theme sets the tone perfectly. The same with Robocop & Aliens; both create the right vibe. The original Batman theme is perfect - and much better than the one for Begins.

Personally I feel the 89 batman theme is a better song fitting its film better. It says "batman". Elfman's theme is tailored for its film. which is the mark of a good score. You can stick Begin's theme on a movie about bank robbing or hitmen and it woulnt make a difference. And the quality of a film should have little bearing on if one likes the quality of its score. Otherwise nice list.

I simply don't have the First Blood soundtrack, the clip I played features the original cue by Goldsmith. But if I had labeled it as the original, I would have been reemed.

Wait, so Zimmer and Howard's theme isn't unique and recognizable? That's a laugh. That's why the entire theater was all chanting the myotis and molossus theme at our TDK midnight showing.

Both scores correctly represent each movie.

First Blood part noted. Zim/How's score is good though I think Not better than Elfman's which went on to inspire the theme to the animated series. Elfman's sounds so "batman" as in ONLY Batman was in mind & only Batman fits it. Seeing it in 89 and hearing that score wow! The DK easily sounds typically Zimmer; his OST to pirates & gladiator sound virtually the same. Only James prevents the DK score from sounding like all the others. But I respect your opinion, just sharing mine : ) good list

I will however mention that you maybe didn't pick the best tracks to represent some of the scores.

For Instance the Gladiator soundbite used is not as great as other tracks on that score. Like "The Battle", "The Might of Rome". "The Barbarian Horde", and "Am I Not Merciful".

Also with Batman Begins I personally woulda went with either "Barbastella" or "Mollosus".

with gladiator, the case is that I don't have the entire soundtrack. So I was semi-limited.

As for Begins, I find Myotis to be far more emotional than Molossus or Barbastella, especially when considering where it was used in The Dark Knight, when Batman is going after Rachel on the batpod. I find the emotional cues from the first movie used from myotis really aid in adding a little more emotional impact in the score. To each his own though.

Personally I like the part in Barbastella with the loud drums because of the scenes I associate with it (same reason you like Myotis). In "Begins" it was used when Bruce gets swarmed by bats in the cave. In TDK it was used when the Batpod is ejected and when Batman is fleeing at the end. And it was at the end of every trailer for TDK

Mollosus is just bad ass because it's the main music used in trailers for TDK.

Your right though to each his own though. Myotis ain't bad either.

Burton used his typical gothic style shtick and applied it to Batman. It is in no way dark. Bruce is shallow and boring in Burton's movies.
