  • they managed to create the perfect retard you gotta hate xD

  • The guy looks like Tim from Tim and Eric at the beginning

  • The man sounds like Pooh to me. :b

  • The only other thing this needs are the Transylvanians from Rocky Horror

  • lol best part in the movie

  • King Herod is Josh Mostel aka the black mailed principal from Billy Madison-he is also Zero Mostel's son

  • With all due respect, why would anyone be scared of this chubby clown? Granted, history suggests that Herod Antipas was not as brutal as his father Herod The Great but he would still have been a man of power and influence even though he was not much more than a proxy or puppet for the Romans. This Herod is nothing more than a spoiled, self-indulgent, and petulant child...not intimidating at all.

  • @OreadNYC I find the idea of a man with power over life and death being a self-indulgent manchild frightening, although I admit they didn't really play that angle up in this staging.

  • @EwoktheMoid -- That's quite a good point...I hadn't considered it from that perspective.

  • Warning you are bout to enter the weird part of Jesus Christ Superstar

  • 2:21 el hermano gemelo de jesus le traicionaa xD

  • WHAT A DRAMA QUEEN ! LMAO !

  • @FrankoFTW:

LMAO that's why I love it so much. I especially love his back fat hanging out of his pants.

  • Herod, do not start a bread fight you cannot finish.

  • PEDOBEAR he's real!!!

  • film makers--these days--are not willing to make such marvelous images as found at 00:27

  • @MsTierraLaShae Tell me about it, hardly anyone takes it seriously. It's the story of Christ, you don't need to ham it up!

  • this just makes me uncomfortable.

  • the herod from this years tour was actually way better then this one. it was the first time i saw the show and thought one of the players was better then the original. he was jaw dropping amazing.

  • Man, Weird Al's been hitting the Krispy Kremes pretty hard ...

  • I love this version of Jesus Christ, the movie, it is one of my favourite musicals. A bit morbid but when it came out it was so different and original it was something that made us all think!!!!!

  • joan armetrading i am not in love

  • I swear they made a joke about this on this part. I hate this version. The 2000 version is SO much better! This version is just...plain ridiculous!!!

  • @SapphirePrincess15 What?! The 2000 version is way more ridiculous. Did you see that version of "Superstar" Its comical

  • @kathmandoozle i thisnk that was the WORST cast ive ever seen of this show.

  • @MsTierraLaShae the 2000 version is way cheesier. all that 80s disco lighting, and the bad camera angles. Not to mention the soundtrack itself was mediocre. gross

  • @kathmandoozle I think that they didnt try as hard as this one either. And I mean that, because it's just so lazy. Liten to the Judas, or Herod, or even Pilate. it isn't the same, ya know?

  • @SapphirePrincess15 herod is discribed as rediculous and excentric in the bible, they were playin that up. i personally think the 2000 cast was the worst cast ive ever seen do this show. and ive seen 4 dif casts.

  • brillo pads

  • 1:30

How did this dance not become the bigger than Thriller?

  • If you guys didn't know, the man playing King Herod is Josh Mostel, the son of Broadway star Zero Mostel, who starred in musicals such as "Fiddler on the Roof" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", he was also in the movies "The Producers" and also "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum".

  • I can't stop singing this

  • LOLZ

  • Get out, you king of the juice! Get outta my life!

  • Какая прелесть! :)

  • @MsVintro Да не говори, не то слово!!!

  • doubting dave from mystery hunters anyone?

  • our music teacher watched this film with our class... we started laughing when we first saw (t)his face xDD and couldn´t stop^^ we also started dancing along xDDDD

  • @8MellieMaus8 Our teacher showed us the movie in 3rd grade, the entire class was breaking up during this scene, lol.

  • I had no idea Weird Al' played King Herod...

  • For great ideas try Mindvendorcom. wisdomcommonsorg, ' The reason driven life' by Robert M. Price, also his" Jesus Christ superstar; the making of a modern gospel" ; which is his reply to Rick Warren's ' Purpose driven life '. Tentmaker777 on youtube, also philosopher Daniel Dennett. It is good to look at the whole argument- all the reasons for and all the reasons against. Life is more interesting that way and you maybe end up with a more balanced mature perspective

  • c'mon!! king of the jews!!!

  • The original 1969 recording of every song from this masterpiece simply OWN this farce of a movie. Wretched. Even Alice Cooper's version was better.

  • @bonkersane lolno

  • I dunno... I had listened to the recording first, and this was simply over-the-top. I had expected something more... mocking, deadpan; like, he's dressed like a real King, sits there in his palace, and sings this jolly rock'n'roll song while calmly walking up and down the hallway, with a cynical smirk on his face... wouldn't that have been great?

Make him a bit more "hedonistic" than Pilate, have him be at a banquette or something... and you're good to go.

    But this is just silly.

  • 1:37 best part ever

  • this version worries me slightly...

  • I DO NOT OWN THIS SONG!!!

  • 0:24 LOL

  • This King Herod reminds me of Jonah Hill.

  • The Herod from the 2000 one was creepy. This one's funny and full of character. the other one is scary like a vampire.

  • The best part of the movie.

  • So Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote this?

  • This guy's so creepy it's hilarious.

  • @mokster5 A young Principal Anderson from Billy Madison

  • Favorite part of the movie

  • too fkn funny!

  • I only ask what I'd ask any superstar. Where will you be tonight? Can I meet you in a bar.

  • Good LORD this guy is creepy. I get chills. Still, that's not a BAD thing for the character. I dunno, though. Mayall's overall sliminess in the 2000 remake really gives this guy a run for his money.

  • wow the 2000 version of this song is better

  • @NotSoBlonde87 ummm. no. Rik Mayall can't stay in tune, he takes more of a mocking attitude towards Jesus which isn't biblical, and he doesn't show the decadence that King Herod was known to have as well as this version. The only character that did as well if not better in the 2000 version was the character of Simon.

  • @juddz90 ah but it is more entertaining. this is more like a fail. not even remotely entertaining, this just made me want to go and watch something else

  • @NotSoBlonde87 you are right. Horrible reproductions are more entertaining, because you can laugh at them.

  • @juddz90 as time go on things get better. the only horrible thing about the reproduction is that...... oh wait I cant think of anything bad to say.

  • И я постиг что ты сам бог или как вас там зовут.

  • 0:27 :')

  • so Gay

  • @johnfhm this was made in the early 70s, it's not gay its only ment to be humorous

  • Comment removed

  • This guy in blue coat and yellow glasses is simply the best.

  • @hildegarna Yes :D

  • Too bad Hamas did not look like this person. He would be laughed out of the Gaza Strip part of Israel.

  • I wonder how hot that water was/is...

  • in the beginning, he sounds like the voice from "Mr. Happy Face."

  • poor jesus :-(

  • i jeezed im my pants

  • THE GAYEST HEROD OF THEM ALL ! LOL ! HE'S SO FUNNY ! :D

  • @Charlie1964Rapture Yes, he is too gay, hhuahuahuua! So funny!

  • whut a jew

  • what chuch are you with

  • diese jesus christ superstar variation ist die die beste

  • this sound like barney songs xd

  • @Yojugando lol yes it does

  • I vant to be alone...

  • @Ypipable are russan

  • the best herod

  • best part and song in the movie in an already incredible one.

  • I love this version!! ...Can I marry you Jesus?

  • This is GENIUS...FREAKIN' GENIUS...

  • OHOHOOOOO!

  • 1:37 - 1:39 Andrew Lloyd Webber should have a cameo appearance there xD

  • I find myself watching this everyday.

  • Still less gay than Twilight

  • @Kratos851 and a better looking lead too ^_~

  • @Kratos851 by miles

  • Ohhh the 70s'

  • 1:56. You're welcome, everyone.

  • so this is what it's like to be high...

  • And his face from 0:00 tot 0:06 is so hilarious

  • LEAVE JESUS ALONE! LEAVE HIM ALLOOOONE!

  • This is the best "King Herod" I know of.

  • This guy played by Seth Rogan would be awesome :)

  • pretty lame on the vocal...this tune is the 'showstopper' and deserves a better treatment than this lackluster imitation ...

  • СУПЕР!!!

  • I swear I once had a flatemate who looked and acted EXACTLY like this guy. Best flatemate ever.

  • King Herod reminds me of richard simmons!!!

  • Sacrilegious at it's best

  • @jacobforlifeson thats what i always said!!!

  • @jacobforlifeson Funny since I'm Mormon and LOVE Jesus Christ Superstar.

  • Ohhhh!!! My favourit :D

  • This guy is so awesomely over the top.

  • GET OUT OF MY LIIIIIFE!

  • I turned on the tv and i was channel surfing, when this movie came on. It was in the middle of this song! I screamed and started dancing and singing :D

  • a weak performance. They really messed up this scene for the movie. The original Broadway was much better.

  • i always laugh when this part comes on.

  • It is good and puts a great spin on the issue.

  • King Herod, my ideal man...

  • I love those fingers :P

  • Jesus Christ Superstar!!!! Rocks!! The Best!! of all the Plays..

  • @paul7679ify LOLOL, clearly;L

  • Jesus Christ Superstar!!!! Rocks!!

  • somehow, this melody makes me happy

  • Richard Simmons really let himself go.

  • press 0 many times for the best screamer ever! :P

  • And I thought superbad was Jonah Hill's best work.

  • @thenumber331 Jesus Christ Superbad !

    LOL

  • lol - this has all the klistch and campiness of Godspell "it's all for the best' . Those were the days. This to me is just staged more simply but is more irreverent,

  • @lisaj62 Love Godspell !!!! I sang, " All for the best" with a friend of mine in a Talent show. I even bought the Shirt Jesus wore for it. !!!

  • @Tom6093 ~what good is the land for, the sun and the sand for, you guessed it's all for the best <3 ~

  • @lisaj62 " Your mood and your robe, are both a deep blue, you bet that job, had nothing on you, ah but don't forget that...when....you ....get....to ..heaven you'll be blessed, Yes it's all for the best"

" So your Jesus Christ, your the great Jesus Christ, Prove to me that your divine, Turn this water into wine"

  • i reallllllly like this :DD

  • gotta admit not really scared of this guy....

  • I attempted to watch this movie once with my mom, and we got bored and stopped. We never got to this part, though. XD Oh my gosh, this part is HILARIOUS!! XDDDD

  • Since when were there guns back then in Jesus' time?????

What did Jesus do?????Turn their batons into GUNS??????

  • I nearly break a rib everytime I watch this LMAO!

  • " So your Jesus Christ, your the great Jesus Christ, Please show me that your divine, turn this water into wine" Typical anti thiest remark. Show me evidence or you don't exist !!!!! Judas screwed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver because he was scared of the message Jesus was sending and how the pharasees might react. He also doubted Jesus being the Son of God. Lame !!!!!

  • @Tom6093 Well, it sounds extremely logical for me to ask for proofs of something`s existence..."faith" is just a way to say "umm...yeah, we have no way to prove it, so you are just gonna beleive it without reason"

  • @emiliolocura2 Without reason ? Um....Hate to tell you this, People give up drugs and alcohal for their beliefs. They learn to forgive and have grace like Jesus. You may look at faith as believing without evidence, but , we thiests honestly change for the better because of this faith. I met my fiance through church, most of my athiest friends don't even share your opinion on faith being stupid. Faith in anything as long as it's positive can improve lives and life. God or no God it helps.

  • @Tom6093 Those improvements dont actually come from the heart but from selfish reasons, the idea of god also means you beleive in heaven and hell,, you know you will get a reward if you do the right thing, and will be condemned if you do the wrong one, you do what you do either because you want a reward of fear the punshiment, those selfish reasons take away any good in what you do. However, if you dont beleive in god, you do what you do for no reason other than the fact that it is right

  • @emiliolocura2 Or you do all wrong cause there are no ultimate consequences. So who cares if you go into that elementary school and blow up the children, right?

  • @emiliolocura2 So, you believe we only do good things for God ? What ? We don't have a conscience or know right or wrong ? If the bible told me to walk right by a beat up person and not help them, you really honestly believe I wouldn't ? "THY SHALL NOT HELP ANOTHER IN NEED , UNLESS THAT PERSONS ANOTHER BELIEVER"

I don't believe I read that in the bible

  • @emiliolocura2 Actually that's BLIND faith. Big difference.

  • @illusionistdave and that difference is...

  • @emiliolocura2 Blind faith is not based upon research or self-observation.

  • I can't decide whether this is hilarious or disturbing.

    Scrap that, it's both.

  • I can't help it. But every time he sings "king of the jews" i only hear "king of the juice"...

  • @therealyllsson haha! When I was a kid and watched this for the fitst time I asked my mom why they kept calling him "the king of the juice" lol

  • @therealyllsson King of Jews! Swimming pool

  • that's the guy from adam sandler's big daddy who rob schnieder said always orders 3 pieces of cheesecake...

  • @OriSama21 bagel. lol

  • 1:25 love the coreography xD

  • hahaha i love the coreography

  • He says You Are The Christ, The Great JESUS CHRIST ....ask any SUPERSTAR Be very happy to witness the demostration of him performing miracles and wonderful power. When Jesus was speechless, Herod sent him back to Pilate.

  • Many people viewed this in the summer of 1973.

  • Richard Simmons in a role that will leave you speechless ...

  • this sequence always makes me laugh.

  • Heelloo, Newman.

  • He sounds like Winnie the Pooh lol

  • @gbbg43 Not really

  • @gbbg43 ...wow you're right!

  • When I was younger I thought Herod said king of the 'juice' xDD

  • lmao the beginning always makes me laugh

"Jesus, I am overjoyed to meet you ace to face" idk it's the way he says it XD

  • Herod is best performed by Josh Mostel, it's one of my favorite parts.

It's so out there, that it's strangely good.

I like when he get's annoyed.

  • you can ROCKKKK...the cinics if you try....aahaha I love it

  • hahaha, if you watch this with your eyes closed you may confuse it with Liza Minnelli and Cabaret

  • He is the Lord (L) I love Jesus

  • is that girl on the left around 2:13 flashin her snatch

  • 5 people tried to walk about the swimming pool!

Best song of the movie love it ^^!!

  • this song always cracks me up bc of the floaties and the finger pointing

  • That girl, the tall blonde with the orange hat, is beautiful. Her eye makeup, her long legs, her arms, her navel, her body ... Beauty

I can´t imagine how her looks today
