Granted, history suggests that Herod Antipas was not as brutal as his father Herod The Great but he would still have been a man of power and influence even though he was not much more than a proxy or puppet for the Romans. This Herod is nothing more than a spoiled, self-indulgent, and petulant child...not intimidating at all.

I dunno... I had listened to the recording first, and this was simply over-the-top. I had expected something more... mocking, deadpan; like, he's dressed like a real King, sits there in his palace, and sings this jolly rock'n'roll song while calmly walking up and down the hallway, with a cynical smirk on his face... wouldn't that have been great?

Make him a bit more "hedonistic" than Pilate, have him be at a banquette or something... and you're good to go.
