  • Anyone who says that this guy can't sing should watch some of the accoustic version. This guy can damm well sing.

  • uh.. how the fuck can anyone say that he sings bad live? he hits the C5 and C#5 close to perfectly here which is really impressive.

  • OMG I luv this vocal. I wonder how to get the version with this engene from the start of song?

  • I was actually at this show and his voice really is amazing! Every time you hear the change, it's a shock.

  • he didnt do the deep virtue

  • you would never expect that voice to come out of that dude...amazing

  • why isnt it music?

  • Anyone who says FTM isn't real music...deserves to die.

  • theyre from sulphur springs, its a few miles outside of dallas.

  • Oh, ouch on the chorus. Save the high notes for the computer...

  • Listen to any other recording. He usually nails the vocals.

  • Do you have a link? I've never heard him do it.

  • Just type in Dance of the Manatee in the search bar and click on the second vid. He does great

  • Eh...Idk, man, still kinda shaky. Yeah better, but a little shaky. At least compared to the recorded version. That's all I'm saying.

  • Well, compared to others like Shinedown, who can never hit their high notes, I'm really impressed with this guy. It isn't record quality though, you're right

  • LOL yeah, very true. If you can't hit the notes, Shinedown, don't tour, nobody wants to hear that.

  • Haha, amen brother

  • another thing u gotta consider is it's not like he can hit that EVERY day. i mean his voice must be tired as hell. plus he's flippin out he probably lost his breath and stuff.

  • awesome.....im from the netherlands and their music inst in stores here but i have my copy ordered from the states.

  • to save you can reach me at frequency 140.96.

  • If you need me you can call me on the frequency 141.12.

  • who's is that? otacon mgs1?

  • MGS1 and MGS2.

  • I heard them for the first time on tour with Chevelle.

Darroh sang Vice/Verca, and climbed the fucking scaffolding and went crazy singing and flailing upside down.

After the song the stage went pitch black, then a spotlight hit Darroh, him dangling a good 15 feet, kicking like crazy.

He fell, and busted out with A Seafarer's Knot.

    Blew my mind.

  • I love Dir en Grey, but FTM is a very deep and well thought out band.

  • how come he doesn't make his voice deep at the "those limbs hold no virtue" part? maybe it's too hard? maybe it strains on his voice too much & he decided not to do it to make it easier on his throat?

  • he does its just recorded by a shitty camcorder

I saw them live. He reproduced the CD very well.

  • i doubt it strains his voice too much. He probably just did it to switch things up

  • Go back to /b/

  • HAHAHA

  • Fair to Midland is an amazingly good band, in my opinion. The way they match the lyrics that themselves are for those more intelligent with melodies that make your jaw drop AND have a vocalist who can go within such a huge range octavs and styles of singing, is truly respectable. As for this current video, not their best performance, I'd say. Yet, way above loads of other bands :)

  • wow that is extremely distasteful. there is no need to trash them. I agree, Fair to Midland isnt for everybody, but just because you dont enjoy their music doesnt mean that they're horrible. Its all a matter of opinion. Think before you post a comment.

  • Fair to Midland is the best... Darroh is the best vocalist in the world, has anyone seen them live? he sang one part into a fan and it was soo cool.. and he hangs off shit... Look where Fair to Midland is at.... Look where Dir En Gay is at... uncomparible...

  • Fucking pointless intro..

  • @Softblizzes i think it really does wonders like something epic's about to happen...which does happen lol

  • hoyl shit he can actually do those notes live. exquisite

  • every bashes his live vocals and my god they are not that bad. You try replicating his octave ranges.

  • maybe they just got alot bigger and were able to afford alot better equipment

  • wow his singing here is HORRIBLE compared to a more recent show i went to in 2007. his singing was 1000x times better than this in the show i attended.

  • im sick of everyone saying his singing is horrible...id like to see YOU hit all those notes.

  • reddemon223, you obviously didnt even read my comment, i just said how amazing he was singing at the show i saw compared to this video in which he sounds unexperienced or fatigued. i didnt even say his singing is horrible. i said this video makes it seems as if it were

  • anyone know why darroh pushes his fist to his throat sometimes?

  • Im not 100% sure... but I think it's to add a sort of vibrato effect. I know from personal experience it can also give you a bit more control when trying to reach notes that are out of your vocal range.

  • damb their awsome

    there sound dosent

    even change

    wen itz live

  • Wow...I LOVE LOVE LOVE FTM!!!

They hafta come to Louisville soon!!!!

  • this band is amazing, and tampa florida is the next place they need to be because these guys created a champion out of me

  • that was incredible. I wish FTM would come up near Vermont sometime soon. They're my favorite band. Ugh, I want that to happen so bad!

  • I never realized it was the same person singing because of the variety in his voice! This video rocks!! I love this song some much.

  • awesome show tho glad u posted this 5/5 not the greatest view tho :/

  • shpankypd go get some new ears or kill urself cuz if u think hes a bad singer ur demented dude

  • fair to midland, COME BACK TO COMMERCE!!!

  • the singers amazing he can go from nice high voice to kickass heavy metal voice in a second

  • dude i know! i saw him live in Atlanta. i'm a musician and he changed my whole musical outlook

  • singer sound alot better here, than in the dallas curtin club vid

  • come check out my FTM video..its off the HOOK

  • First time hearing this they are not bad at all...

  • hell yes! seeing them march 3rd in LA....shitty seats and everything!!!

  • SphankyPD, u seriously think that he has a bad voice?!? evidentally, uve never herd the CD! He sounds exactly like the CD!!! Open ur ears next time u listen diptard!

  • do you really think they ripped off some lame band no one has heard of? that doesn't make any sense at all man...

  • I saw these guys in dayton awhile back. Incredible seriously love them to fucking death. I missed their show last wednesday at the mad hatter but i'll get to see them again eventually.

  • it got canceled anyways :(

  • this singer is a god, I wonder what happened to your ears what makes you say this..

  • Opus Dai. They dont really sound like them but they're original in their own right.

  • These guys are the best. It's disappointing that they don't get as much radio play as they should. We should be getting rid of all the crap on the radio these days, and make room for real talent like these guys. Does anyone know of any similar bands to these guys?

  • they sound REALLY good in concert!!

    yep

  • These guys are a totally diffrent generation of alternative music, they rock!!! They definetly are probably one of the most original bands in a long time!! :D

  • I freaking LOVE this band!!! First heard em on XMSquizz, and havent stopped since. I Love the music and lyrics to this, they are awesome

  • this band is awesome!! the are the most original thing to come out in the past few years. the singer is amazing, but like dude said, he should do this song earlier in the set, it would be awesome to start out with. but bands always play their biggest single last, which this is, so you'll stay longer. and whoever disses this band, don't know shit about music and needs to put their headphones on and listen to their pathetic Ja Rule, and J-Lo records!!

  • Fantastic song, but they really should do this one early in a show, simply because hitting those highs is extraordinarily tough after a person has been singing even so much as 20-25 minutes. That being said, he has vocals in a lot of their songs that require a lot of vocal range, so it's going to be tough no matter what.

And yeah, ANY singer is going to sound better in a studio. Axl Rose is proof of that. Worst live singer in the history of music.

  • the vocals and drums are pretty shabby...but props to the guitarist, he sounded awesome. I really wish I hadn't have seen this tbh lol, hopefully they don't always sound this bad...

  • throat must be killing him that is..they don't all sing lol

  • Vocals suck?! WTF are you talking about. Hitting those high notes must be hell and this was the last song of the show (as he said), so his throat must be killing them. dont even talk about shitty vocals

  • Man I hate all the people who say the live recordings have better vocals than the live version...

OF course it sounds better on the album! They get to take many tries at perfecting their good sound!

  • Greatest... Fuckin... Vocals... Ever

  • wow, i realy enoyed watching this live, i dont understand you people that say that the vocals suck =\

their singer is one of the greatests and someday Fair To Midland will be famous all over the world!

  • exactly

  • His voice is awesome.

    Everybody shut the fuck up.

    -fudgemonkey

  • Ok, I just watched another one, and he doesn´t sing great on the same song either, but fuck, that guy is a freak. I rather watch some action on stage than hear a perfect singer. If you watch the one from the palladium Ballroom, you will understand why he can´t sing the song perfectly at the end of a set.

  • I´ve heard worse singers than that. The guy from Taking Back Sunday is worse for example. And I wouldn´t judge a singer by one song, especially not the last one of a set. I saw a Strata live clip and the singer sucked, then I watched another one of the same song and he sounded great.

  • i'm sorry i don't like them i saw them live as a warm up band to a dir en grey concert and a was not very impressed^^ i think that all of ther songs sound a like hope you guy's don't get mad at me i dont want to make somebody sad..

  • dude, i went to their concert and it was INCREDIBLE. he hung on the flippin celing; almost took it down, too.

  • I saw them in Cologne and it was great ... they rock :D

  • I love these guys!

I remember seeing them live, and didn't know who they were.

    Yet, they kick ass. XD

  • i live in dallas and have met these guys a few times. theyre good live, and as a former vocalist.. he does pretty well considering how high those notes are. depending on when you see them, he either nails it or sometimes not so much. lots of ppl dont understand, no matter how good of a singer you are, if youre pushing the limits of your vocals.. its going to show after playing 40 shows almost every night. it only makes sense.

  • No, not talking to a wall in terms of responding...I mean that most people are like walls online -- you can't change their minds for your life.

    With understandably a few exceptions.

And as to the defending thing, it's not really because his skill is debatable, but rather because he's so low-key, y'know; one of those "musicians' musicians" that doesn't advertise at all.

  • Oooh, that hurt deep. I'm currently hooked on Buckethead, and think he can actually play. I hate trying to convince someone else on YouTube (it's like talking to a wall), but have you actually listened to him? Or downloaded a CD or two?

  • DontHateEmo, out of curiosity, what kind of music DO you like? Any Buckethead? Praxis? Or are you one of those metalheads that says anything with clean vocals in it is "pussy rock"? (no offense meant)

  • Oh look the troll's at it again...kind of ironic that the guy whose name preaches tolerance is the most arrogant online douchebag ever. lol

But I do agree with you that they need to work on live stage presence. Really flat and sharp in a lot of sections.

  • Yeah, I saw them today in Paris: they were great! They rock and they better on the stage than in mp3

  • I was in paris to, they rock! it was a nice discovery...I thought the singer would kill himself at the end... does he do that every time?

  • I guess he does: I saw a ideo on their myspace ;)

  • Everyones hates little liberal hippie Emo fucktards that go aroung hanging out at star bucks and wearing girl pants and keds sneakers you fuck. I'll kill ten of you fucks without breakin a sweat. Why don't you go listen to gym class heros and shut the fuck up before i stab you in your chode with a screwdriver. You ass monster. Go eat dicks.

  • DontHateEmo, go give Satan a blowjob, you trolling bitch. And then fucking kill yourself. You're the Internet equivalent of an 30-year-old who hasn't been toilet trained.

  • DontHateEmo -

"Fuck you kid, YOU'RE A DICK!"

    -Tourettes Guy

You must be a 3rd degree black belt in the arts of faggotry and boy love because i get the serious impression you want to fuck me. How about this, follow the trail of tears and find one of your own to fuck, bitch.

  • Dude, you should spend less time trolling FTM videos and more time finding a purpose to life.

  • and you should spend more time crying in a corner slitting your wrist and eventually killing yourself

  • just stfu little guy @donthatemo

  • This band is sweet!

  • We Mary's had ourselves a ball...

  • WA!!!

  • They're from my town. Never knew em but everyone was at their going away party for tour.

    COMMERCE TEXAS!!!

  • Town? Dallas ain't a town, son.

Or did they grow up somewhere and run to Dallas to live there?

  • I believe they grew up in Commerce. Or maybe they could've just went to college there. I know they've lived in other nearby towns so yeah they probably lived in Dallas for a while.

  • saw these guys open for Dir en grey about a year ago at the Fillmore. lots of fun and really talented guys

  • hadn't heard of them prior to last sunday, but i saw them open for chevelle and thought they were great. nice guys too. they were signing stuff before and after the show.

  • did you see them in amarillo? if so then i was there too. it was awsome

  • no, saw them in ft. lauderdale, fl

  • fucking love these guys!!! going to see em next month!!

  • I liked it, I think I saw them live before a system of a down concert cuz I think I remember this song.

  • Fucking love this band with all my heart.

  • some japanese version? the sounds and his voice and the lyrics sounds all different

  • It's live, fool! :p

  • what is the quote "not just bricks and bars there are other kinds of prisons", where is that one from? its absolutely beautiful

  • i love this song and his voice.

  • they are unreal live. the sound so tight and darroh's voice is ridiculous!

  • the guitar and the vocals are the best

  • How can you not love them?

  • best video of this song on here

  • They sounded amazing when they played X-Fest 2-007 Sunday. They're awesome live. Darroh goes crazy when he's not singing...

  • I was there!!! The whole concert rocked!!!!

  • this aint that bad. i like! the vocals are fucking high in some parts so i wouldnt expect him too pull em off spot on live tbh. might be making it hard for him in later years lol

  • i saw them live this friday and they were incredible. they actually performed the whole thing to the highest of their ability. this performance here sounded nothing like the original track.

  • guess i was right beside u man i saw them in nashville though

  • yep rockettwn. they played before chevelle and suprisingly, FTM = way better performers than chevelle. understandingly though chevelle is just a trio, so thats a a good exuse

  • FTM is one of the most capivating LIVE bands, I had the pleasure of seeing them 8 times in over the last couple of years in both Tulsa,OK and Dallas,TX. every one just as kick ass as before. they are some of the calmest, mellow dudes until they hit that stage and its like someone opened up a can of FUCK YEAH. If you are dissappointed in them the first time you hear them on youtube, you really need to look again and then go to one of their shows.

  • This is one of the poorer live performancees I've heard from FTM... it really varies.. I Don't think the singer is very kind to his voice which could have a lot to do with him sounding raspy at times... FTM has a broad range of sounding like crap sometimes and then other times amazing. I think it is just a young band that does not have the experience of pacing themselves.

  • I saw them in Stockholm to and they were great, but it is another feeling to actually be there and see them live!

  • Believe me they sound awesome live. Recordings of them live do them no justice whatsoever.

  • your rite not gonna lie until the chorus on the recorded version his voice annoys me but on this its fine.

  • They were much better in Stockholm. It was so sweet. This isn't half-bad either.

  • HOLY HELL! They really ARE awesome live.

  • what kind of music is this something between dredg and mars volta

  • This song is so good, besides the growling or whatever it was it's close to perfect.

  • I know. The end just kind of... ruins it.

  • ya i agree that part almost ruins the song.

  • This song is so fuckin awsome!! even though i dont have a clue wut there saying

  • They're great! Saw them in Sweden not long ago, they rocked!

Looks like the audience are standing still? o.O How can you do that when it's Fair to Midland?! :O

  • Awesome fucking opening.

  • He's got an amazing clean voice, but I really don't like his attempt at screaming/growling/whatever that was. But that's just a personal preference. The fact that they sound that good live is amazing.

  • Saw them live in Denmark a couple of days ago.

They're great live... And the cd sounds good as well!

  • That intro to the song, the dialog in the background, was one of the coolest thing a local band can do. I commend them.

  • yeah i saw these guys in london aswell jesus lol the dance is epic...

  • i saw them last night in london, the sound of his mike was off but his dancing is legendary, oh and watching climb the stage hanging off the ceiling and falling 20ft back down was hilarious

  • they still sound pretty good even though its not the studio version cause not many bands do sound this good life and in the studio

  • FTM is one of the few bands that sounds better live than in the studio!

  • touche

  • You guys must not go to alot of live shows. They sound Sloppy as hell live!

  • Stop hatin'.

  • They sound AMAZING live!

  • Amazing.

  • you cant find many singers these days that can hit notes like that live. bravo. ftm

  • fuck man!....im watching right now...2 minutes in im already blown away! i love these guys!!! fuck man these guys have got talent! want to see them live so much!

  • i need to see them live.......

  • wow these guys r AMAZING live

  • Awesome band is awesome.

    Top performance.

  • These guys are great! Sorry I missed their show a month ago.....Love their studio stuff, love their energy as a band...but the drummer was lacking some fill...or creativety live and the singer was waaaaay off on the higher notes....maybe singing night in and night out with that effort has a negative impact on the higher notes...or maybe he's just better in the studio.....

  • i really like the new cd, but have a few problems...see if i can get you guys riled up a bit. 1. they dont really sound like their cd...whether thats good or bad, you can decide.

    2. with as high notes as he sings, its almost impossible to pull off live(never seen them live, but have seen lots of vids of them live, and he doesnt pull it off. i know, go see them, youll change your mind.

  • 3. and last, the drums seem to be missing something, sounds to simplified. there are only a few good fills on the album. maybe adding a double bass would do it.

other than that, i think they sound great.

  • CANT WAIT TO C THEM IN CONCERT

  • these guys fuckin rooooccccccckkk

  • these guys rock!! even live!!!!!! i love them so much!!

  • you got that right

  • man for a new band these guys are awesome!!!!

  • I think these guys have been around since 98 or something like that, so 9 years +

  • Whoever said these guys were new you don't know what the fuck your talking about. they have been around for a looooooonnnnngggg time. i saw them back in 2003 in deep ellum in dallas, tx. I've always been a fan.

  • Dude, don't be so sensitive. We all know how it is when we think we have "our favorite band that nobody else knows about" but you don't have to be so derogatory. We're all so happy that you've followed them for so long, but don't be so confrontational about it. That's all.

  • They're first full album was just released... So it's good that you follow unsigned bands, but to most of the world they are new. Even tho, the are awesome.

  • Well, I would'nt be to proud there guy... They use to sound like shit. They only recently got good.

  • lol i like the song but whenever he trys to get the croud to sing along it goes quiet...and like 3 ppl go "We had arselfs a ball" and it makes em look like retards lol

  • even though I like metal, I like these guys.
