  • help me, im 15 and i think i want to become a technical 3d artist, if i learn some sort of course in university for 2-4 years, is it easy getting a job as a 3d artist, mainly for gaming?, or is it a really hard to find job and maybe waste that time learning the course??

  • @AussieRaver1996 Evertyhing depends on your skills. On the Univeristy you picked. And on how lucky and determined you are. Also the country you live in. Here is a little advice. Start learning NOW. Dont wait till you go to University.

  • @megaearplugger thank you, yeh i'v already downloaded Maya, created an epic computer desk with appliances, an axe and a TV set, i know it might seem basic 3d designs, but i did this all in 3 days of using maya with some tuts from youtube

  • @AussieRaver1996 I worked in maya for a month now but learned a lot. Check out some of my videos. The reason you should learn maya now is not only to feel much more experienced in the univeristy but also to make a portfolio. Where I am going to go (hopefully) the course requires more than just A-Levels. They want to see a portfolio of drawings on the paper and Im also going to make a demo reel with all my modelling and animations.

  • @AussieRaver1996 You should get a Digital Tutors Subscription because they are making the best tutorials and known throughout the world. If you currently cant afford a subscription look for digital tutors - maya tutorials on iso hunt, because I assume that you didint actually spend 10,000$ on Autodesk Maya anyway :P

  • sometimes i wonder why i started to work with 3Ds max insted of Maya. that toon rendering is amazeing:O And i can't find tutorials for Max to make toon renderings:S

  • This is so great! I can't wait to upgrade to Maya 2011. So with this ik preset is there still a need for the skin weight tool anymore when rigging a character?

  • @joemilkweed You will still need to skin and weight the character separately. The FBIK rig is only for animation. Although, there are some great new skinning tools in Maya 2011. Watch the "Enhanced Skinning Workflow — Maya 2011 New Features" video on YoutTube to check them out.
