  • like when hes walking around there up and everything but when he lieing down u see one ear flopping

  • my dog is 5month old black gsd his ears were both standing but then found that one ear is now a little floppy should i be worried should i wait or should i tape em???

  • I have two GSD 15weeks, the girl had both ears straight up, it looked gorgeous, but one morning I found her with one ear flopped (i don't know how that happened). The boy has floppy ears but hes the runt so his body size looks more like a 8 week old puppy. By when do you think they need their ears taped?

  • Real gsd no need ears taping

  • Did this too my Akita pup, works good.

  • Doesn't taping their ears up like that weaken their sense of hearing?

  • My gsd stops people/cars in the street without his ears standing up all the time as he's so handsome, in fact people remember him beacause of his ears..I left his ears to be 'natural' as he's not a show dog & it just doesnt matter to me if they are up ot down. They do stand up but not all the time & he's absolutely gorgeous whatever.

  • I have a GSd and i ve taped his ears today hes 7 months old will it work cause his one ear was half erect and the other not ..... n for how many days should i leave them taped

  • I don't get it! Why would you tape gsd ears at 4 months? Ok, I understand if they get about 7-8 months and their ears are down , you should start worrying...but at 4 months...

  • GSD's ears come up at all different stages, no need to tape

  • There is never a need to tape up GSD's ears!

  • Lovely looking pups! Never any need to tape any ears ever!

  • My GSD is around 6 months old, will his ears come up naturally or would I have o tape it?

  • OMG IF your german shepherd is a real german shepherd then its ears will stand naturaly on their own in their own time!! you SHOULD NOT be sticky tapping any anima;s ears up they are presents or toys!

  • trust americans to be impatient let nature take its course and theyll stand up on their own i know as ive had 4 gsds

  • @liamvanvel1996 I think I'd rather trust the opinion of a user who is clearly devoted to the German Shepherd breed than some 14 year old with videos of Call of Duty whose parents owned 4 GSDs (hardly enough to account for the entire breed).

  • its the equivalence to getting braces

  • Some pups ears stand at 5 weeks old.....some stand at 10 weeks...and some dont stand at all...its in the bloodline for weaker muscles and cartlidge if they dont stand by 4-5 months old.

  • hello my GSD in 10 weeks old and 1 of his ear is up and other 1 flops. its a pure breed GSD and i dont touch his ears or anything.. should i be worried ??

  • @arphell No, I got my GSD at 12 weeks and one ear was slightly droopy at the tip and the other went up half ways. She's 14 1/2 weeks now and they both go up all the way. She can even move them around to pin-point where noise is coming from. Just give it about a month more.

  • @arphell No,you shouldn't be worried. As I've stated earlier the ears will flop or stand during teething. They may be up one day and flopping the next. Wait till teething is finished, then the muscles will be strong enough to put the ears where they're supposed to be.

  • @PhleshWound THANK YOU! i have been waiting for an answer like this! so i should wait until about 6 months of age before they go up?

  • @TheGermanShepfan You pup's ears will stand after teething has finished. That can be as late as 8 or 9 months in some dogs.

  • @PhleshWound again thanks, my gsd is 5 months now and he is already getting some adult teeth in front, and one adult carnassial in the back. it shouldnt be long now, thanks for the advice:)

  • @arphell nope his ears will both stand up when they are good and ready!

  • Why do you tape their ears?

  • my 4 month old germen shepherd pure breed girl its ears are all ready up

  • are they hard to take care of ?? if you go to the park will they bark at other people .. to the point where you cant throw a ball ...??

  • Why did you tape their ears!?!?!?

  • my gsds pups ears were up at 6 weeks of age

  • ear taping you dont tape german shepherds ears they come up on there own

  • so i know you probably get this a lot, but i have my shepherd puppy (3months) , and both of his ears about two weeks ago stood up, kinda leaning against each other, but stood up nonetheless. but in the past few days, his right ear dropped, almost like folding off to the side. i'm getting a little concerned because his mother's ear was also like that. should i be worried? or is there a good chance that it'll come back up on it's own?

  • I have a male that's 8 weeks old. One of his ears are up, and the other flops. Is it too soon to get worried?

  • @1pick2sticks Not at all. It's normal for their ears not to pop up (naturally) until they're about 6 months old. Let nature take it's course.

  • @1pick2sticks Yes, I never taped up my GSD's ears. I have 2 now, and had others before these. I never had one with ears that didn't stand up, but I didn't really care. These puppies are so precious. I miss the puppy age, but I love them now, too. One of mine had a floppy ear until he was 5 mo. old. but it went up just fine.

  • taping their ears doesnt hurt them...nor are droopy ears always a sign of poor blood line sometimes you have to help the ears stay up is all no big deal

  • drupy ears are a sigh or poor blood line. tape them all you want it won't help.

  • To all the idiots dont fucking play with your gsd ears if they are 10 months and they ear still down then they have problem.

  • thanks for the vid ! by the way i have a 3 months old german shepherd but his ears are still down .. is it true that we should not touch his ears and shake them or else they wont stand up ? thanks anyways

  • @kenylay ....no

  • you dont tape german shephred ears up the come up on there own

  • My girl's ears where already straight by the time she was 3. My boy's...when he was 5, now he's 8 and the tip of his left ear is floppy. He let the other dogs bite on his ears to much. -_-;

  • my german shepherd is 3 and a half months old and his ears haven't stood up yet!Should I worry about it?? : /

  • @deadskater18 you might want to start taping his ears up before it's stuck like that for life. Of course research before doing so.

  • Why tape the ears? I thought they stood up on their own by the age of 6 months or so.

  • 90% of everyone's GSD puppies has had that little floppy part remaining at the very tip of its ear while the other ear is perfectly straight. Very cute; usually straights out on its own; sometimes requires help.

  • Gods... I love floppy ears... I tried to put them down when my GSD was a pup.. didnt work, and i love him though.... Thats nature. :D

  • thats like foot binding for dogs ears wtf

  • all gsd by the time they are 6 months they have the ears up my dog was like that until it was 5 months her ears where up

  • my gsd pup is 8 weeks and ears stand perfect

  • it is very common and vet recomended that if german shepherd's ears don't stand up by the time they're 4 months that they be taped

  • are you serious?!

that seems kinda odd...and mean =(

  • Nope, doesn't hurt em one bit, it actually helps to strengthen their ears, if they aren't taped, it leads to ear problems, (ie prone to infection)

  • whats the proces? what do you put on their ears=???

  • people people people. some german shepherd puppies ears' dont stand up. therefore leading to the taping of the ears. german shepherd just look better with their ears up, not all droopy.

  • I've never heard of taping GSD ears, if they are bred right they stand up on there own.

  • as long as you whistle and make loud noticable sounds when ther are puppys to stimulate ear mucu;s they will pop right up without tapeing my gsd RIP mocha used to have floppy ears and i wistled every once in a while and they poped right up

  • my German shepherd has perfect stand up ears I don't get why they have to tape the ears I think it doesn't mater what the ears look like I think all dogs are perfect there all cute and nice

  • i agree my german shepherd Maddy ( R.I.P) had floppy ears as a puppy but when she got older the got stronger and stood up

  • i have agerman shepherd...and she has got perfect stand ujp ears...the secret is: never touch the ears of your dog during his first(better two years) of growing.

my father teach me this and it works with every dog.

  • good to see how well they do even with the ears taped up - Ive had gsds in the past and sometimes you just have to do this but as yu can see by this video the puppies dont really mind - and it is only temporary (kind of like a person having to have braces to get strait teeth)

  • why would you do this to the dog?..

  • ok i dont wanna sound mean or anything but ppl do this becuz they dont want a gsd to have ears that are down they want them to have ears that point up

  • but why?..for our own amusement?..how about just leaving the dog to be..natural?

  • It's so that the cartilage in the ears can harden and stand up on their own. Usually a German Shepherd's ears will stand up on their own which is the natural appearance. But every once in a while that doesn't happen. People don't do it for their amusement.

  • oh ok.

    i did not know that.

my german shepherd Timon has one half loopy ear and one pricked up..i like it like that..he's so happy and cute!

    but thanks for the info!

  • its totally stupid coz when GSD is growing sometimes (even when he got 5 month) one ear can flap down, its because that he need protein to build a bones so give him a good food ( natural) + nutrient = that's all.

  • lol yeah my GSD has floppy ears and its so cute, part of what makes her special to me. :)

  • that's so sweet =) i have a half shephard and i <3 her floppy ears ^^ i never knew that floppy ears were a concern...i think they're adorable!

  • So I was reading information about ears. So the hing is that they will grow by them self, you dont have to tape them.

  • i have a 4 month old german shepherd guy i got her from said she was king her ears aint up yett i am wondering if i should tape or are they going two stick up all by them selff ???

  • they will if your dog is GSD - just give him a good food rich with proteins (u can use nutrient to compensate Vitamins, especially calcium )

  • My GSD is 7 mos. old and his ears still have not gone up. The breeder ensured me they will stand on their own when the dogs teeth are all in. I looked in his mouth and sure enough the lower jaw still has teeth coming through the gum line. Not sure if I should tape his ears or not. He does have large ears and is of German lines. He is a beautiful and happy dog but the ear issue is really depressing.

  • let your dog be nateral for petes sake. its not going to harm him at all. and its not going to harm you either

  • It is natural for a GSD's ears to stand up. They're supposed to stand up by themselves, but sometimes their cartilage doesn't strengthen as much as it should in their ears, and it causes them to stay flopped, so they tape them. This doesn't hurt the dogs at all, it's nothing like cutting and taping, like you would see on a Doberman or Boxer, for example.

  • My GSD just turned 8 weeks old yesterday and one ear is almost stood up, and the other is about halfway there...do i need to tape his ears or they just erect naturally?

  • i would have taped them also if i was feeling they were soft or the puppies had issues with standing them up on their own i didnt have that problem with mine his where up at 21/2 months he is now almost 4 months and over 36 lbs and there still up.....

  • only ear defects need tape. in normal gsds the ears become erect naturally after 3 or 4 months.

  • why do ppl tape their ears up like that?

  • i love all dogs their so dam cool:)

  • german shepherds need to have their ears stading straight up and looking erect. if that is not present, then the shepherd doesn't look pure. besides they look cool with their ears up

  • OMG shutup you tape their ears because it is the Breed. Maybe if some of ya'll knew shit about the breed you would know and its not all the time their ears go up its called soft ear and when you tape them up they will stay it doesn't hurt them it actually helps right totalGermanShepherd?

  • Some dogs need a little extra help - it doesn't hurt them and it only lasts for a few days at a time so it's not a long term thing - they accept it pretty readily and even ignore it most of the time

  • @wolfpup07 Their ears stand up on their own. They'll stand up and fall back down multiple times before they finally stand up for good. Obviously because they're ears will keep growing until adulthood. So this is pointless. They're no dobermans.

  • @wolfpup07 Right - it doesn't hurt them at all - in fact often times they forget they're even taped up as you can tell from the video

  • you dont kow shit about GSDs dude. 5 months and no ears up means you msut tape them :)

  • i have a german shepherd puppy at 4 months I adopted at the shelter. He is AH-DORABLE!

  • @jennlu99 cool..i have a german shepherd less than 2 months and it;s cute too. i am not sure if it looks like a GS cos its a mixed. mind if i send u a photo to ur email or sth and judge for me?

  • haha this is completly normal to do just make sure they are done teething they are just being to lazy to hold them up

  • my gsd was the only one out of the litter who had one ear not stand up, i didnt tape em till she was almost 6 months, the vet taped them up, i took em off ten days later, then did it again for 1 week and now they stand up. Taping them will just ensure they stand up. I think its great u taped them, all these other hosers shouldnt say anything at all if they cant say anthing nice.

  • one looks like my baby sasha hehe i loove mah sahie!!!:)

  • I wont call anyone a moron, you have two great looking dogs. Just know they do stand up on there own If the cartlidge (My bad spelling) Is not damaged.

  • @crackheadcheesecake Most do stand up on their own, mine did, but some don't. for the pups that don't by about 4 months, your should tape them. Another option is to feed them gelatin, that only works if the ears are only a little floppy, not in severe cases.

  • @jmdnarri I've owned GSD's all my life. A pup's ears will stand or flop on almost a daily basis while they're teething. By the time they've finished teething, the big muscles that control the ears are mature enough to hold the ears up. There's no need for taping, it's a pointless practise done by people who don't know enough about canine anatomy and growth stages.

  • @jmdnarri why gelatin?

  • @TheGermanShepfan Years ago I had heard that some people will eat gelatin to help hair and nails grow stronger, a few members of my GSD club have been breeding for decades and they told me it has the same strengthening effect on the cartilage of the ears. There are three pups in our club from the same litter. The mother is a highly accomplished working and showing dog but tends to throw soft ears to her pups. They swear by gelatin.

  • heh, it made them look goofy, but it's totally understandable.

My gs had major "wing ears" but they're up now ^_^

  • shushhhhhhh lol, its not cruel to tape their ears, obviously taping ears does not hurt a dog. And they are very cute by the way =)

  • This video is posted simply to show you that if you have to tape your German Shepherd pups ears that they still play and act normally while the ears are taped and learn very quickly to ignore the fact that they're taped in the first place.

  • they are german shepard puppys your right they have beuitifull back legs take them to a breed show they would win with the full back leg and body build up
