There are thousands upon thousands of kittens in shelters too, not just adults...so even if you wanted a kitten, you can still go to a shelter. And most shelter animals arent abused or neglected. Most end up there because of money issues, loss of home , end up stray and never claimed, divorce, job change, moving...most are perfect family pets!
