  • Im not defending the plot Kinglaffo, but I was thinking, perhaps he was so interested in our sun because the machine was already on earth, And Cybertron building materials where exactly at your local Aces hardware? Just a thought, I thought the plot was weak myself, but just bringing that out for your thoughts?

  • Yeah. They brought it there though, right? I thought the gist was that they traveled the universe collecting energy from suns (stars), to be so obsessed with killing off the humans here (which is what caused the conflict between he and the other Primes - thus losing the matrix that turned the machine on) seemed silly when they could have just...gone elsewhere. The universe is so huge.

  • Well that is indeed true, but there was a BIG gape that Bay didnt explain. Like how the orignial seekers hide and blah blah, my thoughts where, perhaps they couldnt move it? Maybe it didnt have enough power, The closest source would be our sun? Then again he could have a complex like our "ultimate evil" ( wont bring in names. ), The primes wanted to defend the humans, He was resentful, angry? They choose the humans over him and nows he's having a hissy fit? Who knows really.

  • And that's what gets me, that the audience is left having to fill gaps like that themselves.

  • Once more I agree. Bay is... not my favorite in dealing with action movies. I think the plot to RoTF was truly weak. And I've recently read that bay has the script to t3 done. Which horrifies me greatly. Its not hard to mix plot with action. The fact that he made Megatron a lackie kinda urked me greatly. IN the first movie Megatron was somethign I could appreciate, now hes little more then Starscream with a small arm. Its my opinion at least.

  • here is the reason why the fallen want to kill the humans he's a racist like rin tin tin or mr ed

the jokes i used are owned by the chapelle show and comedy central

  • there is one prime left optimas prime is alive and he takes the fallens face

  • i actually agree with your complaining about the movies flaws i only disagree about the humor because humor is funny in all it's forms, the only real issue to complain about is that is over the top humor, by the way most sequals are naturally less successfull or intresting than the original.

  • I think I could explain a lot of those little "nitpicky" things you mentioned, so I disagree with that....but I TOTALLY agree with the pacing! Ugh, that was kinda gnarly.lol, likewise with most of the humor. They could have taken out the marijuana brownies scene for a little more robot character development.lol

But I DID enjoy it, and thought it was WAY better than movie 1. It felt like the drama was more...well, real, and it felt much more like Transformers.

  • Most of my nitpicks can be explained, sure, but you have to go to outside logic that's not actually in the movie. That's no good for me.

  • Not too much...but I see what ya mean. For the most part though, I didn't have to think that much at all to understand a lot of what you said....but that's just me, and my mind works in some weird-ass ways...xP

  • Not arguing with you, just curious - you understood things like the fuss over our specific sun where there's billions upon billions of stars in the universe?

  • Well, he could have simply landed on Earth and wanted the energy RIGHT then and there, as maybe he didn't want to wait, and the fact that he couldn't get his way left him cold, thus why he wants his particular vengeance on Earth. But I could be wrong D=

  • He wanted revenge on his brothers for taking him down when he wanted to drain the earth despite it having life.

And...they were dead. So, what good would obsessing over the Earth do? Revenge on people that are already dead? Seems silly.

  • That is a good point....lol, the only explanation could be that, since he built that big-ass star machine on Earth, he couldn't build another one, and he probably wanted to strike back at Earth for denying him the sun...or some shit. idk D=

  • Like I said in the video, most movies end up with some weird logic at some point. Some of the stuff in this one just went too far for me though. If you dig it though, that's cool. I don't even hate the thing, I just wish it hadn't been rushed out. It could've turned out better. Having less than a year of production on something like this is crazy.

  • I agree...while I like it....dogs humping and Devestator balls was un-fucking-necessary. And while I LOVED the first...uh...2/3s of the movie or so, the pacing near the end was god-awful. =/ I can only imagine what a bit more quality writing could have done for it.

  • It's a sloppily made film with lots of logical holes. You think not, fine by me.

  • I know I'm probably being too hard on the movie. I just wanted so much more, and I think maybe if they hadn't rushed, it could've turned out a little less convoluted

  • Hole didn't look so bad when he was lying dead. Animation error, most likely. Still, they have a medic on the team, Ratchet, who I'm sure could have repaired whatever hole really was there. Still doesn't make sense. They had a way to bring Optimus to life already. "But they used it on Jetfire!" - most argue. And Jetfire only lead them on a mission...to find something...to save Optimus. It's a giant circle, and it's silly.

  • As much as I do agree that the new Autobots had somewhat of adaqute screen time. Jolt being one of them I thought this movie was great. The shard disappeared because it woke up Jetfire. Read the two comic set ups from Idw.

  • I know what they did with the shard, seems dumb though. Think about it. They used it to revive Jetfire. What did Jetfire do? He essentially lead them on a SAVE OPTIMUS mission, which they could have done in the first place.

I have no interest in reading comic books to fill in gaps, there shouldn't be so many

  • Although I haven't seen this movie yet,I have seen the forest fight. I knew it was Optimus vs Starscream,Megatron and Grindor, and each has kind of uniqie features, but I could barely tell half the time who was who,the camera work was pretty bad!

  • its true the story plot did stink but the action was good i give it a 8 out of 10 the first one a 6 out of 10

  • You give a movie with a story you say stinks 8/10?

  • Well it was better than the first one I officially give it 6.9/10 or 7/10

  • and an other thing the primes used there bodies to protect the matrix but the wall is extremly weak they should have just fled one of them with matrix the rest hiding but firdt there would to a reason other than just saying so why there combine strenght wasent good enogh and if they did it would leave the question that is jet optimus stronger than 12 primes i mean damn a few jet parts and hes superprime

  • argreed not to mention i hate how they mention all these new character and do fuck all with them once again its only optimus he dies but still manages to fight more than the others put together plus idont like how prime rips of blackouts face thats not what prime would do

and one more thing sam dosent notice the allspark shard in his jacet for two years!!

  • Also how did ravage get to that ship and Jolt wasn't in the "Autobot Storage Room."

I heard that soudwave gave the decepticons in the desert battle a mode when they were shooting down.

  • also ironhide, ratchet, the arcee triplets, sideswipe and sideways had like no sceen time at all. i would have liked to see sunstreaker. How did ravage get to that ship. i heard somewhere that when those decepticons were shooting down, soundwave gave them a mode or whatever but never saw it.

  • FUCK YOU...!!!

  • For why

  • You're right mr Ninjaman...amen

  • Awesome review, I'm a fan of nit-picking myself. But nobody watches Transformers for the storyline. The storyline is crap. We watch it for gigantic robots fighting and Megan Fox. That's about it.

  • I didn't just want to nitpick, these are things I feel are legitimate issues. And...the "no one cares about story" mindset is exactly what caused it to be so riddled with holes. Any movie should have a clear story.

  • Indeed, every movie should have a clear story, I'm only saying that I wasn't expecting the story to make the movie a box office epic. I knew from the advertisements it wouldn't be. Anyone expecting to see Transformers 2, and have their mind blown by the awesome plotline will be sorely disappointed. But I do agree with every one of your points, I watched it once and almost all the holes were glaringly obvious.

  • I didn't assume it would have a great story going in myself. Didn't make the blow any easier to take though.

  • awesome review!!! jet fire underoos perfect nit picking. i was so waisted the first time i saw it. and after the 4th time watching it im just tring to figure out how they can fix all the holes. i have some ideas

  • can't we just call it a dumb movie

  • all

    the primes are dead

  • Hmm?

  • Well there, that's your standard of movies. While you're watching Transformers and not having a good time then oh man I don't know when there will be more of a entertainment movie yet to come. I have lots of fun seeing Revenge of the fallen and going for more. Good luck on your opinion on the review hoping for epic story telling.

  • For me it's the how much money the movie makes. I love Transfomers and the live action visuals that Micheal Bay made. it's Transformers, what more can you get out of a plot. It;s about robots battling a war and action packed even the cartoon is always action packed. You want good stories? Romeo Juliet is a good story, ya sad story.

  • That's a wretched argument. Any movie, no matter the aim, genre, demographic - has to have a good story. You know I feel that way. Your weak argument that somehow the shallowness of swimming in OMGAWESOME because shit is blowing up on screen is not going to change my mind. I think that's the absolute worst argument for this movie. Set your standards a little higher.

  • I like the mythos of Transformers. If I go to a Transformers movie, I want it's story to at least make sense, even if it is light. The story that's there is so full of holes and logical inconsistencies. It's absurd. I've spelled this out. Movies are stories. There is no arguing this. The visual is only ONE aspect. For me, explosions and robots hitting each other are not enough. I think they could have done a lot more. I am not willing to sit back and settle for asinine, lack luster storytelling.

  • But like I said in the review - on some level I can still find SOME enjoyment. I don't know why you feel antagonized just because I liked a movie less than you.

  • Apparently there are those who really want you to strive for mediocrity. Striving for what's better will just get you into trouble. You'll be much happier just being/expecting the average.

  • $700 million and counting and that's your bad review of the Revenge of The Fallen and you'll be linng up for the 3rd sequel

  • Do

    you

    think

    every

    high

    grossing

    film

    is

    awesome

    ?

  • Ok, I understand your opinion not liking the movie, hurray. I love the movie hurray for me. The success of the movie speaks for inself.

  • Your argument only works if you like every movie that's ever made a bunch of money. Can you tell me, honestly, that you think every high-earning film is absolutely amazing? If you don't feel that way, then using the "money = good" really has little merit.

And if you'd really watched the video - I said I didn't hate it, I just have issues with it. I don't know what's so wrong about that.

Here's what I believe about movies - there is no good or bad. People like it or not, the end.

  • how do you explain the success with the movie than. oh i guess more people likes it hates it..

  • Sure, a lot of people saw it. That was a given - it's the sequel to a very successful film and it's been marketed heavily. However - if you think that every person who bought a ticket walked out thinking it was amazing and the best movie ever, you're fooling yourself.

  • you want stories why not read a book. if it cant make sense to you then i dont know what movie you're watching. I have fun watching TF2 robots transforming and fighting, explosions are entertaining. you want a good strory go see harry potter

  • Movies...are stories - in visual form.

I explain in the video many of the elements of the plot that do not add up or follow logic.

  • who cares about plot. the movie was visual eyecandy entertainment . The robots, the fights, the explosions was good enough to watch. you critics focus on plot go read a book

  • Movies are meant to tell stories. When the stories they tell don't make much sense, something has gone wrong somewhere.

  • micheal bay fails in life with that bullshit of an excuse of a movie despite how much money it made this movie was probably appealing to kids 13 and down cause with the plot in the movie they dont have to use there brain while as any 15 and up apperciate good movies and see whats good other then exsplosions really nice micheal bay and looking back at his other movies they are just the same so thank you man you gave an excellent review of this movie what you said is the 100%truth.btw nice shirt

  • Look I only had two problems with the movie....1. Too many sex jokes and 2. The Fallen isnt as "Apocaliptic" as michael bay said he would be.

  • i know i hated the minicon humping the girls leg and devorstator having balls was just off-putting

  • I fucking loved it, but not as a movie, but as an awesome thrill ride. And honestly, this was not meant to be a good movie, but a way to advertise stuff like toys and etc. But i am a large transformers fan and am not at all crapping on the movie. I also was VERY frustrated with the "balls" and wheelie disappearing.

  • My apologies for taking so long to getting to your review (heart issues yadda yadda). I have to say that I agree with everything you've said about the movie. In fact, all of the loose plot holes and things happening that weren't coherent to making a "whole" movie actually put me to sleep several times. I'd like to back and see it again with the hope of staying awake but at $8.50 a ticket I'll just wait for the DVD to see what I missed when I lost interest and fell asleep.

    Ciao~ Chelle

  • And yet the movie made $400 Million plus in the first 5 days :)

Good review and I agree w/ you it seems like the movie was rushed to get it out before July!!

  • Yes, i do agree with everythign you say here, but i think the only thing that saves this movie from my diss-liking, is the hype. I was so excited for this movie, I couldent let the nitpicks ruin it for me. And the constructicons, where there are more than 1 constructicon at a time, I "as wel las many others" decided to take a hasbro turn on it, and decide that there were drones to luer away from the real ones. Such as the constructiocons, and sideways. But all in all many gripes but worth $7.50.

  • Great review, I definitely agree with the Constructicons issue with having them brought in as individual characters, then later seemed to be cloned. And sadly there was also no back story to any of the new Transformers (good or bad). Especially with Sideways and Jolt both looking like Jazz, the regular movie goer might have been confused. Either way, I agree with all your points made man.

  • have to agree totally..left the movie feeling like i watched many non related clips thrown together. The length made it feel like there were 2 movies..and you kind of force yourself to stick it out for the little reward in the end. Kind of annoyed that all the robot dialogue and any inner plot was all in the background of the movie, for it being a transformers movie. i will say that I liked the ss/megatron dynamic..it was an ok movie (more of entertainment), but not up the ravings of some fans.

  • I hear a lot of people defend this film by saying 'you're overthinking it.' My problem is that you DON'T have to think at all to see the glaring errors/plot holes in this movie. TF format has changed from animation to live action/CGI, budget has gone up considerably, why shouldn't we expect a step up in writing as well? Why accept this juvenile writing? Would the film be any LESS fun with a better story?

  • 100 percent agree, the "you expected too much"/"the 80s cartoon (low budget with tons of different people working on it) had problems too"/"it's just a summer movie" kind of excuses just don't work, total cop outs

  • i love our sun, it keep me from frezzing to death

great review, you are able to see it from multible perspective, and new perspecitves, yet you still manage to clean it up, and make a great review whith a nice phazing that keeps toghether, very proffersional, but i would like to see a longer more in depth reivew? you get 5 stars for making me want moar lol

btw i challange you to do a review on the worst film you ever seen, a positive one, if u do i dunno, ild eat a cyber planet key? lol

  • Blackout is unstoppable in the first movie at the beginning but at the end a couple of shots from Lennox owns him. And Grindor is twice the size of Optimus but of course he gets his head cut off!

  • ONe thing i hate is how inconsistent the Robot battles are.

  • I guess my only expectation of the movie was to be "good". I guess that was to lofty an expectation? ;)

  • Here here.

  • hay the fallen was so obsesed wot destroying our son was because the fallen hated our race so he wanted to destroy our son to kill our planet this destroying the humans.

  • I addressed that, if he hated humans, at the time there were far less of us on the planet, he probably would've been able to take em on without having to get rid of the sun - considering that he apparently had enough energy to flee the planet after his battle with the other Primes. it would've been minimal effort to kill the rest of the humans, surely

  • well yah but u no i guess he hated earth 2 so yah dats it

  • I saw the movie with my dad and nephew, and their reactions were "OMFG , so Fuckin awesome!!". My reaction was "meh" I enjoyed the giant robo ass kicking but that was it. But I've seen previous Michael Bay movies. My Dad loves them to death, me, "meh" So I was expecting the same feeling, but I did enjoy the first transformers movie, I don't know why, I just did.

People say the comics explain the plot holes, that's bullshit, The critics and casual viewers are not gonna to research beforehand.

  • And honestly if the Bay humor was removed, I feel the movie would be alot better, not a lot better but just something easily done.

And I say Bay humor because I am not granting the writers amnesty, but like you said in a previous comment, those gags are consistent in Mr. asplosions movies.

    Damn I am a whiney little bee-atch :P

  • Have you paid any attention to what any critics have actually said? Have you read every point about the plot and felt they were all wrong?

  • I highly enjoed this movie. Having said that however, I highly enjoyed your personal review on it. Well said. 5*

  • Chris I totally Respect You and I love all your videos however it breaks my heart hearing you say all this but I still respect your opinion.

ROTF is like G1 series and the 1986 movie they just had lots of plot holes, continuity errors, and characters that have no lines or development. This is a standard of Transformers lol. Michael is honoring that or...Blame Bob Orci & Alex Kurtzman the same guys who wrote Star Trek. I'll ask them all these things next Botcon :)

  • I don't think the comparison is fair at all. Like I mentioned, the G1 cartoon was very low budget, and made at a time when Transformers was indeed nothing more than a vehicle to sell toys. With ROTF though it is a very large budget movie, and movies with that much money behind them, targeted at so many people, shouldn't have giant problems in the story that the audience has to fill in - and it's also been released when a lot of other TF fiction has escaped the "only to sell toys" stigma

  • There's nothing wrong with a "just for fun" popcorn movie but this does still have a lot of things that just don't make any sense and it's hard for me to see past that, but I don't dislike it overall

  • Also, a lot of G1's inconsistencies even came from it's numerous different writers, there were a ton of guys working on various episodes at the same time, three different animation studios even. ROTF and the first movie have the same team of people on each, so why are inconsistencies between them?

  • And any "it's ok because G1 had it" argument ultimately doesn't work because this movie is for everyone, not just TF fans. The general audience overall more than likely aren't going to be able to justify any of what goes on that way, because many of them aren't diehard Transformers fans that know about everything that's come before in the series. Many of them won't have seen a single G1 episode. Yeah, many won't notice any problems with the story, not even all fans do, but it's no excuse at all

  • But overall it's just a movie. You liking it more than I do, whatever, I certainly don't mind, I don't think it should effect you too much either. Every piece of entertainment out there - you either like or not, and not everyone will always agree, and that's fine. Doesn't have to be antagonistic or anything.

  • Gotta agree with you here it is just a movie. People will never all have the same opinion about something. Laffo I respect where you are coming from because these are characters we all grew up with and want to see treated with respect not just thrown up on screen to sell toys and make money. Overall I would like to see a different director and/or writing team at the helm and not have Dreamworks and Paramount pushing for a 2011 and rushing to out it together.

  • Thanks for your thoughts on this movie !

I did enjoy this movie, but like you, I found myself having some gripes with it as well. Devastator have balls, what constructicon that was combined to form devastator even have cannon balls ?

The whole clones thing threw me off since it wasn't pointed out in the early setting of the movie. Someone told me that there was ransack at the beginning, and that jolt was in a couple scenes...

  • I don't recall witnessing ransack, and it's bad when the character is not even pointed out, nor mentioned in the movie. I can only recall 2 scenes with jolt being in.

Another thing that bothered me is the allspark shard. How can anyone forget that the shard is in a sweater ? Plus how come it didn't burn through the sweater like it did the floor ?

Another fault is that they have repaint characters such as Grindor (Blackout), where's the creativity ?

  • Now we all now about the matrix being a very powerfull source of energy (power). Is it me or did the matrix looks more like a small double ended dagger ?

Plus, who is the third of the arcee and twins team (I refuse to acknowledge those three characters as twins) ?

    Does she even transform ?

And of course we can't forget the Houdini disappearing act.

Here's a thought, when megatron pins you down with his foot (think about it) wouldn't you get squished and die ?

    I did enjoy ROTF though

  • i said the exact same thing you are saying to my friends, and they think im mentally challenged of something. When i complain of the plot, i got called picky, when you can't write a basic outline of the script in one paragraph it's too confusing

    great review

  • megatron needs a way better army. im mean did ALL of the soilders megatron calld die!? ITS SAD!

  • Seems the majority of em died in the big air strike near the end as they ran from the orange smoke :o Many others died from the gunfire of solderis+Ratchet/Ironhide/Sideswipe/Arceeees

As far as I can tell the only living Deceptions at the end are Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave

  • Great review! I definitely agree with what you said. I wish I knew more about the "Bonecrusher" appearance. You see him dragging along the sand in his alt mode, then shooting at the bike sisters in robot mode. Clone? Revived somehow? Either way this gives Hasbro a reason to give us a voyager/leader Bonecrusher. I doubt they will, but I can always hope.

  • I'm of the belief that they used the Bonecrusher model to kill two birds - save money by reusing an existing animation model, and perhaps through in an homage for the fans. Either way, probably an ILM decision all the way

  • I was kinda thinking the same thing. Not to mention a ton of reused constructicons

  • Hm, I enjoyed it fully, but I wasn't a G1 fan to start with, so I don't know what most of the complaints were about.

  • I know there are some out there that have issues with the films not being a direct translation of the g1 stuff but I don't care about that at all

  • This is my favorite movie ever, it had more robots more personality to them, and better action

  • I'd say Jetfire, Wheelie, Skids, Mudflap, maybe Bumblebee , and maaaybe Optimus had personality, with the rest of them either being plainly"evil" or "good" Too many others that weren't characterized at all though.

  • I enjoyed it. It was a fun movie and the fighting was great. I was very VERY dissapointed with Devastator though. He was taken down VERY easily. I thought it was funny the twins beat him up a bit but he got taken down by a missile I think? Aweful waste of my favorite combiner.

  • Certainly was :(

  • Was it a missile? I can remember something like a carrier or something and it made me mad. I also hated that Soundwave was Dr. Claw in the movie while in the game he sound like SOUNDWAVE. It was intresting to know what Soundwave sounds like without the robo background but come on! Old time fans who want to be reminded of fond G1 memories (Who have'nt seen anything TF since the last movie) will not know it is Soundwave without the voice with a design like his.

  • Devs was downed by a rail gun from many many many miles away

  • WHY?!?!?! I was so hiped about him being in it but he was taken down so easily! And the Constructicons were just confusing. I mean even after they combined they were still running around. And eventually while Devastator was combined (I recall he may have died by that time) Jetfire decapitated Mixmaster and BB totally killed Rampage. (Damn you Bee for boning Ravage like a fish!)

  • And The Fallen.... He was hardly in it and yet they name the movie off of him. He is'nt in the final battle that much he just takes the Matrix and runs to the machine and gets his ass handed to him by Prime. Waist of character just like Devastator. And the movie is named after him so why?

  • Best review I've seen for this movie. ROTF was bad and I hope Bay has nothing to do with the third one. I could go on and on about this movie but I don't want to become annoying like the twins, Skip and Shitflap.

  • Well done review, sir. I can hear in your voice what I felt after seeing the movie. Disappointment. Disappointment for what the movie could have been. Disappointment that our beloved robots could have been so much more. That they were not given the "luvin" that they deserve. LOL! I do agree that there were plenty of "WTF did they put that in there?" moments.

    Question -

What would you think of maybe J.J. Abrams taking the helm for the next one?

  • saaaaam saaaam sam you are the boonana prime

  • also i once read that bay referred to this one as an empire strikes back, but i found that besides prime dying ( really why try and rewrite whats already been done )the decepticons weren't as bad ass as the empire

  • I try not to quantify movies in bad/good/worse/better but....but The Empire Strikes Back is about a million times better than ROTF :O

  • After you mention it, the plot is a bit f**ked. But, again, its just a movie (Micheal Bay movie)

  • Indeed. Reminds me of the "ha what did you expect" argument though and that doesn't work too much for me

  • wait robot heaven , that whole scene "you are the boonana king " kept playing over and over in my head

  • i really wish that the autobots other than the twins were given a little more character development...but i feel like you cant lay it all at bay's feet i think hasbro has a hand in this too...their objective is to sell toys and they prolly were patting bay on the back saying...oh yea the more robots the better!!!!

  • I think at least some of it could've been helped by having more than just the twins go with Bumblebee and the humans after the forest scene like I mentioned. A giant chunk of the movie is based on that party. Cut the gag with Leo and the bathroom tasing (didn't advance the plot at all) and other little things through there and you've got time for a little more face time with some more bots, MAYBE

  • QQ moar pls

  • O_O

  • i saw it, and loved it. the stuff that annoyed you didnt really affect me. its a two hour movie so its not going to be as good as a 50 episode show.

  • Any movie should at least have a story that makes sense

  • thats true.

the only thnig that i hated about the movie was how easy sideways died.

  • Like I said, lotsa robots there just to die

  • devastator was useless and his nuts were over the top

  • I did find it too bad that all he did was suck up some junk and then break the top off a pyramid :( More Autobots should've been able to fight him. I think letting Devs stay for the final round of the battle would've been nice too, give it a little more punch. I'm sure Jet Optimus or whatever his name is would've killed him in one shot or something but that would've been better than off screen navy dudes :O

  • i agree with that bay was all over the place saying how complex devastator was and that he blew up the computers at ILM because cool he was the fact is he looked like a giant vacuum cleaner that couldnt even take out one of the twins and it would have been cool to see an autobot take out a decept at the end instead of countless airstrikes by the air force

  • shong long likes it because it has so many robots hahaha

  • Well that's fine. I don't have any issue with other people liking it more than me, good for them if that's the case, movies are made to entertain first and foremost. I just had too many problems with the story

  • Somebody's gotta counter balance the people that honestly say things like "MICHAEL BAY BROUGHT BACK TRANSFORMERS"

  • And again like Stopmotionjr. I understand y'all viewpoint but still I love the movie for the ACTION and comedy , the first movie was the ploted storyline and still with all due respect this ( R.O.T.F. ) was a far better movie than the first movie , granted R.O.T.F. story was sorely s***ty but the movie was too awesome in my opinion , Great viewpoints King .

  • Prime did seem a little bipolar in this film.

One minuet he's all about "Freedom is the right of all beings" and then he goes all "F&^*% you Decepticreep! Ima kill your face!"

  • wow he really he said that? :P

  • Well...Maybe not exactly that...But it was implied.

  • Optimus Prime hates faces with extreme prejudice

  • Finally finished watching, lawl.

I think your ending statement summarizes how I feel perfectly: "If you dial off your brain, there is fun to be had, but I wished they aimed for a whole lot more."

I guess I can blame myself for setting expectations too high.

  • Bay hater

  • Tattoo the Scarlet Letter on my ass.

  • with my ass

  • Though I was one who actually really liked the first one, I'm going to have to agree with most everything you've said about ROTF. The movie just wasn't all that great.

Watching it, I could see a concept in there that would have made for a really cool TF movie. Sadly it was so haphazardly thrown together that it just didn't work.

I have to say though, I think some people may be over reacting over Devi's "Wreaking balls".

I was more put off by Simon's widescreen ass shot...*Shiver* ick.

  • Giving one of your robot big dangling balls, it just personifies the "TEEHEEEE" kind of humor Bay seems to love - although the writers have claimed that was initially their idea :O

  • Oh I won't argue that the whole wreaking balls thing wasn't Juvenile. Cause it was. I just don't think it was that big a deal.

On the other hand though, I can't falt some fans for getting testy (*Snicker) over it. It was kind of a Schumacher(Bat nipples!) stunt for Bay to pull.

  • It's not a major OMGNO moment for me or anything, I didn't throw popcorn at the screen, it's just my go-to example of the humor like I told Vangelus. I wanted to pick one thing rather than listing off every moment that went a little too, NOT TO MAKE A PUN, nuts

  • Yeah, for reasons I go into on the upcoming podcast discussion (not pimping, just too much to type here) I agree with you completely. I think in script form, or perhaps a proper novel, this story could be amazing. Just too many factors prevented it from happening in the film.

  • Everyone seems to hate this movie. Wish I was part of the cool guy group and hated it too...

Can't wait for the DVD, hopefully none of you will buy it since you hate it so much.

  • I never said I hated it. And there are a ton of positive reviews from other people

  • If you were referring to Demolisher dying at the beginning of the movie, well turns out he's not part of the constructicons

  • Shouldn't have been a vehicle that just happens to look exactly him shown forming Devastator then.

  • The fallen shoulda just taken Makela to hotwire the machine...

It was much harder to take in the battle on the imax screen.

As far as Prime being alone in the forest battle scene and the other autobots taking their sweet time arriving....Nest can only afford enough parachutes for Prime with all the money they spend on large hangars for bipedal robots to hang out in while in vehicle mode with spiky foam decor.

  • my main grip with it (ingnoring the plot) is that they reused character models especially the parts of devastator, bonecrusher and blackout(renamed grindor). also devestator had balls!!!

  • My main gripe with the movie will always be the very poor editing and plot holes, but il still watch it countless times, cause prime kicks ass lol

  • I've seen it three times, lulz

  • 3 times, lol me...seen it twice so far..but il be watching ice age 3 this week then go back shortly after for another viewing of tf2. Sad moment really as theres nothing tf movie or series around to entertain us, just re-runs lol. Why oh why did they have to kill off animated.

  • Animated will be sorely missed

  • Much appreciated

  • Cool review man, I liked the movie but I understand where your coming from, this movie has alot of stuff/elements within the plot that is never really explained. Even though the comics/novels help out with all that but as a movie itself needs to explain those things or at least touch on it some more,

The humor was good but some things were a bit over the top but the regular moviegoer for the most part loves it (even the balls/leg humping) so it definitely has its audience.

  • is this movie better value than 4 ham sandwhiches? in your opinion?

  • You need food, you don't need this

  • Jolt is the mysterious Autobot Jesus.

  • He's the movieverse's Drift.

  • I thought after the fact that I should've said "Are we going to have to leave it to Vangelus to actually give personalities to all these guys?" - tru story, should've done that

I HOPE YOU DON'T HATE ME FOR BEING ARGHMICHAELBAY GUY

  • I hate you because I tried to film a ROTF video aiming for around 20 minutes and I think it went up to 40. >:(

    GIVE ME YOUR MIGHTY CONCISE

  • Well the original recording was 28 minutes if that makes you feel better :O I cut out lots of bitching or parts where it's clear that I barely know how to speak

Funny how the parts I left in are...exactly the same things :(

  • Bah, speaking was fine and the only con brought up that I tend to see as overblown was the Devaballs (only because there are reviews out there making it sound like they were in a 10 minute slow-mo zoom or something). I thought this was a nice breath of fresh air against the over-hyperbolized ROTF discussions that are spamming up the webz a lot nowadays.

  • Devyballs was just my go-to example rather than combing through all of it and beating the point into the ground really

  • Hey there your Highness, your Highness,

Though I found the movie incredibly enjoyable in a pop corn, critical faculties in stand-by kind of way, I definitely cannot argue with these criticisms. The movie to me seems to have been deliberately constructed as a big old '80's style cartoon episode, ropey narrative, inconcistencies and all :) Very thorough and comprehensive review, 5*

    George

  • I can enjoy it too, and I feel bad for just basically criticizing it. I didn't want to just go AHAHA YEAH AWESOME though :( I'm a nasty little killjoy

  • Honestly dude if it helps- I enjoyed the flick but tend to find myself discussing the pros and cons just as much as one another. XD

You aren't a killjoy IMO because you generally presented more of the -palpable- cons over the shockvalue quippable ones, and you didn't go like "AND IF YOU LIKED THE MOVIE YOU ARE THE CUM STAIN ON THE TOILET SEAT OF HOLLYWOOD" etc etc. Thought the review was fair and fine. :D

  • I see your points, but I still enjoyed it.

  • I did as well
