JAJAJAJAJAJA I love this guy! Dude you're so fucking right!!! I'm a puertorican that looks white and I really get offended and pissed off about all this fucking racist talking shit about a half black/half puertorican Spider-Man, guess what, the character kicks ass! Btw, you have 95% of the rest of comics to buy if you want to be a dick and not support Ultimate Spider-Man because he's black and puertorican. Great job dude! Btw, Batwing also kicks ass!!!!!!!
well the thing i find interesting is the fact that they are taking a brand new character and seeing how he not only deals with being a superhero but also how he copes with being in Peter's shadow. having to find his own way in the world while struggling to measure up to the original. i kinda dig the fact that he has no ties to Peter because it allows him to be an individual and not bound to the same things that Peter was. Still love me some Parker but should be interesting to see where this goes
I can't say I agree with EVERYTHING you said BUT I love the point of the message here. Racism is a pathetic war on color & race against people with many similarities (admit it or not this is fact). This Peter Parker may be dead but that doesn't mean you have to keep reading. I love the fact that the Ultimate series is willing to take such a bold step to fit the 21st century. You guys should be too.
@twilightodawn: thanks for taking the time out to watch this. you could have spent your 4:19 doing anything, but you chose to watch this vid. thank you.
@xw1997. yep. i'm passionate about ending racism and about what comic books and superheroes mean. they are our new mythology, yet it is most a white man's playground. it's silly. if the majority of the outcry was about killing parker, then i would not have been so angry. but all of the racist invective hurled about was too much. was i harsh? yep. katt williams is a grown man cussing out people on stage--i'm smarter and funnier.
Bendis loves black people. Nick Fury turned into a black guy, Spider-Man got killed off and a black child became to new Spider-Man. Luke Cage was the leader of the Avengers got hyped up by Bendis. Bendis also adopted 2 black children. Bendis loves blaaaaack people. But still no one is angry about Miles Morales being the new Spider-Man, just because he is black. No one cares. The people are angry because Peter Parker is gone, even though it's only the Ultimate Universe. It's Peter Parker ...
I dislike the idea of anyone taking peters mantle of spider-man in the ultimate comic universe. It would have been better to have started a new series with miles.
Just the fact they did make such a decision in the Ultimate universe line, and not the mainstream one, prove the "PC" arguing.
Anyway, Marvel's lack of ideas isn't new, since the end of the 90's they started to weaken and they never stopped to make bullshits from their characters, that's why the Miles Morales choice isn't surprising for me; I'm not judging the new Spidey, just the ways / reasons he was created...
Why don't they just created another black super hero, with all new powers and costum ?
Because, giving the Spider Man's mantle to a black gay teenager was a lot more interesting...in a profit language and political correctness way of course
So yes, this decision was pure Political Correctness. Deal with it because it is the truh, and whatever you say will not change this fact.
I don't really care about Miles Morales, but they should have started the Ultimate comics lines like that, instead redoing the same story/characters in the first place for all the series.
(They did it with Nick Fury so why not the rest?)
Killing off Peter Parker caused a commotion for his first times fans, some just don't (or don't want to) understand that, and call them racists, that is not only wrong but make it worse for everyone, tho the arguing is indeniably weak in the "Pro Morales" camp..
@1707EarlGrey: They did have a white Blade--it was Ryan Reynolds int he crap Blade 3. Why, when there is an attempt at painting the world the way that it actually looks, you idiots label it as political correctness? Ws it politically correct for Dr. Dre to make Eminem's beats? In my opinion, I don't think they should have changed spider-man black/hispanic, or "possibly" gay, just because EVERYONE knows spiderman as a white school nerd. I don't have anything against anyone of different races, or sexual preferences. I have friends who are black, white, spanish, asian, etc., etc., and gay and straight. I'm not saying I'm mad because spiderman is now black, but I'm disappointed that they'd sell-out their biggest hero just to bring a new one (of the same name) in.
I think the biggest problem is not race, but the way Marvel handled it. @rajounmwangi Miles Morales, THE ABSOLUTE ULTIMATE INCREDIBLE BRAND SPANKING NEW FULLY POLISHED SPARKLING MICHAEL JORDAN LEAPING UNLIMITED POTENTIAL AND ABILITIES OUT OF THIS WORLD SPIDERMAN FOREVER!
The fact that the new character resembles Obama explains it all. They killed off Peter Parker for all the wrong reasons. I also wouldn't be suprised if this was an epic fail.
No no no ! Spiderman is Peter Parker and Only Peter Parker, Even in other Parallel Universes he was still PETER PARKER !! it ain't about Color... it's about the Person inside we all Grew up with whether he was white/asian/black that doesn't matter, I understand that Marvel is trying to be more PC and trying attract minorities but they are forgetting that they are Alienating Original Fans of Spiderman including Minorities such as myself !
Well spoken.Alot minority superheroes never lasted as long as their white counterparts because of a lack of creativity from the writers and poor marketing. And as an up and coming comicbook creator in my universe EVERYONE gets a chance to shine.
@circusboy90210 You must be on another Earth right now. Everyone else is talking about Spider-man and you are talking about stealing cars and painting them a different color.
@BaileyDaDon the whole batman inc. thing is...interesting to say the least. check out the first couple of issues. they'll give you a feel for the state of things.
@geekdiasporaTV Marvel comics is working on scripts for three Spider-man at one time! There is "The Amazing Spider-man" as Peter Parker, "The Ultimate Spider-man" as Miles Morales and "Spider-Woman as Jessica Drew! Movies and cartoons of these three Spider-Man could surface out anytime. Be on the lookout!
No one said a fuck when a white guy played as a typical american high school version of Goku on that shitty movie "Dragon Ball Evolution" LOL. But some racist normally thinks "Who cares? its a japanese superhero!" Damm i hate people that talks nonsense and dont realize that the world they have around is changing, Spiderman needed an Update according to the new era and Miles Morales is the result like it or not.
@Arbalested no you can't change what someone is. if black people need a superheroe let them create their own instead of hijacking their another cultures icon. that has nothing to do with change .
@circusboy90210 hijacking? Dude, the original spiderman stills alive on the amazing spiderman comics, if you dont like this new concept of marvel universe then just keep buying the original one, as i said... Goku was japanese and you americans made your own version... cmon, goku as a highschool teenager? some people liked it, some others just gave a shit and most people just hated it and rather keep watching the anime or manga because is what they prefer, at the end is just a new concept of goku
The same morons that are willing to kill off the only black person in a movie first. They make the black character the same way they portray blacks, dumb, unsecure, irresponsible, sex addicts and slow. Slow enough to get killed about halfway through the movie. Just like they killed offed the black X-Man that was supposed to have the same powers as Flash in the movie "Wolverine X-men Origins."
it's not kkk racism to knotice facts. nor is it racism for people to want to keep cultural heroes their own. get your own superheroes instead of stealing from another mans culture.
@circusboy90210 "Miles Morales is NOT Spider-man! Instead, Miles Morales is, "The Ultimate Spider-Man!" so do the electric slide, do the running man, do the moonwalk, the James Brown, do the hussle and get on the soul train!
looks its cool if they change the race and all but if they make him gay that just does it. what are they trying to say about biracial people when they do that?
@Krud14 They are not going to make him gay. That false rumor was spreaded over the internet by the racist idiots that hate the idea of a black/hispanic Spider-Man. Because those idiots can't stand to see a successful "minority race" superhero comic.
@circusboy90210 What on Earth are you talking about. This has absolutely nothing to do with stealing another cultures icon. You talk like Spider-Man is a white cultural icon and should only be white. Spider-man is admired by many races of people besides whites. Some of the producers of Spider-Man are Hispanic and Japanese. I guess you don't know as much as you thought you did about the background of Spider-Man.
@JonnEarl every culture worships their own kid. black people even want a black jesus. it's about supplanting yourself in the position of the icon so that vicariously you are on top as well. if you admire something you leave it as it is inistead of changing it. if you want an icon that represents yourself then invent anotherone. otherwise you are stealing the icon. when someone steals a car the first thing they do is paint it a different color. to patrionize you represent the persons values.
it's not success to steal another cultures icons get your own @circusboy90210 It was also the creators and producers of Spider-Man who decided to make the change. If someone other than the creators and producers of Spider-Man made the change, then your statement would be valid. Plagiarism is not what's going on. No lawsuits, no gimmicks, no fan films just the producers bringing a new character to the table.
@circusboy90210 well let's get rid of the beatles, the rolling stones, eric clapton, and close to 80% of popular music because rock and roll was black folks music before all the culture vultures swooped done and robbed old black men for their publishing rights. be real careful how you frame your arguments. you could be pointing out just how illogical you are.
@geekdiasporaTV nobody got robbed it was not a conglomerate that did this, elvis copied the style because he liked it. the beatles copied nobody. there where also white men who invented style completely on their own. your comparing apples and dog shit. there where no blacks playing in the beatles style either.
@circusboy90210 Miles Morales is not Spiderman! Miles Morales is THE ABSOLUTE ULTIMATE INCREDIBLE BRAND SPANKING NEW FULLY POLISHED AND SPARKLING SPIDERMAN UNLIMITED FOREVER!
"Miles Morales is NOT Spider-man! Instead, Miles Morales is, "The Ultimate Spider-Man!" so do the electric slide, do the running man, do the moonwalk, the James Brown, do the hussle and get on the soul train!
i have no problems with spider-man, nick fury, john stewart (black GL), jaime reyes (new blue beetle), jason rusch (new firestorm) or cassandra cain (one of the batgirls) being of ethnic origin...so long as fans of spawn, icon, static shock, patriot, black panther, storm, doctor voodoo, steel, vixen, bishop, xs, night thrasher, blade, cloak (of cloak & dagger), falcon, deathlok, misty knight (daughters of the dragon), shadowman, black samson and black vulcan are made into random white people.
@MarbReb: Racism is a cancer and cancer needs to be excised. As simple as that. And why should oppressed people have to look up to a straight white male in 2011? That's ridiculous. AS a so-called advanced democracy, we still are color struck. And as far as my "peace" goes--that was for those who will be on the right side of history. All these keyboard klansmen are sickening. There is no lace more racist than the comments page of a website. And for the record, I've read Spidey since the 80s.
@geekdiasporaTV I know exactly what you mean! The racists morons love it when blacks play villians, prostitutes, gangsters and things of that nature. But, if there be one single black cartoon heroioc character, let alone it be live-action, the racist morons have a nervous breakdown and call him or her gay before the scripts are written. They act as if its against the law and nature for a race other than Caucasian to play a descent character or hero in a movie, cartoon or TV show!
@JonnEarl it is really time to broaden the color spectrum of our four-color heroes. we live in such a culturally diverse world, yet entertainment (aside from sports and music) rarely reflects this. we have to make our fiction more like reality in this respect.
Seeing as how the most "opressed" people are black, latinos, and gays it seems PC. Can't the blacks, latinos, and gays look up to a straight white Spider-Man? The only thing that pisses me off, is that most people bitching (and I'm not bitching, I don't really care), probably haven't even picked up a Spidey comic in years. Oh, telling people to hang themselves or light themselves on fire or whatever the hell it was you blabbering about, then saying "peace" at the end of the video is retarded.
@cap285. Sorry idiot. That's a house that I own. And what makes your comment so stupid is that it is a white comics writer who made the choice. Get a better rebuttal.
@Cap285 the writer made the choice to do it. it was his and marvel's call to shake up the ultimate universe. your argument opens a huge can of worms. that's like saying why is eminem rapping? shouldn't he get his own music? every white kid that studies an asian martial art--shouldn't they practice fencing instead of judo? you see how ridiculous your argument is? and how can a fictional hero be any one culture's. i bet you can't name 10 things (w/o google) that are strictly american culture.
@geekdiasporaTV It's complete deviation from the source material. It's blatant PC pandering. Miles looks just like Obama, wow, wondered how that happened. The Amazing Issue with Obama. This is just the worst form of PC ass-kissing I have seen. I never said Spider-Man was any cultures hero, people of all colors like him based on merit. The writers are lazy and come up with a new hero in my opinion. Are you telling me there will be no backlash when black characters are turned white? Please.
Interesting, I used to collect Marvel Comics as a kid back in the early 70's, I was a bit too young back then to think about it but as I got older, politics came in, the question of the color and background of the comic superheroes occurred to me, I'm British born and raised but I'm also mixed-race or as you say in the US I'm bi-racial, part black part white so it certainly interested me, of course I stopped collecting comics ages ago so I lost touch, I didn't know PP got killed off :O
@proff180 Peter Parker did not get killed off. This storyline with Peter Parker's death is only in the Ulitmates universe, which is an alternate universe Marvel comics started in 2000 that is seperate from the main Marvel universe. Peter Parker isn't the only character killed off in Ulitmates; they've also killed off Wolverine, Cyclops, and many others. But Peter Parker is still alive and still Spider Man in the main Marvel universe title The Amazing Spider Man. Ultimates doesn't count.
Ah, right, but this Alternative Universe Comic theme is not new actually, back in the 70's we had 'What If' comics which explored stories just like 'What If Peter Parker Died??' ...'What If The Green Goblin Was A Hero??' etc, as I stopped collecting some time ago (got far too old :D) I'm out of touch with it all now as I say, I did catch some of the superhero movies though out of curiosity, anyone know when Spiderman 4 will be out??
@proff180 You're referring to Marvel's 'What if?' series, which was cancelled sometime in the 80's. Yeah, the entire Ultimates universe is like one big 'What If?' issue that stretches across a whole line of comics, so nothing that happens in them has any effect on the main Marvel titles where Peter is alive and kicking....and apparently dealing with everyone in New York City suddenly having Spider-powers spread by infected bedbugs; not making this up.
Oh dear, sounds like the stories are getting far too complicated :O , that said I suppose it's like real modern life in that sense.... tooo complicated :D, it was DC's head Carmine Infantino who once said back in the 70's that... "comics reflect history"...he was absolutely right, Stan Lee said the same thing, both Stan and Carmine were surprisingly good friends despite being in rival comic groups.
@proff180 Well, I guess it was in reaction to the recent bedbug epidemic in New York, so yeah. :) The main Spider Man titles just did the 'Brand New Day' storyline where Peter made a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May's life, in return for erasing Peter and Mary Jane's marriage from history, including his revealing his identity to the world during the "Civil War" storyline, which was reflective of the post-9/11 world. I'm not surprised about Stan and Carmine.:)
@proff180 The next Spider Man movie is called The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and it comes out next summer. But it's not the 4th movie in the series; it's a reboot that's starting the story all over, only this time they're sticking closer to the comics. Peter will have his mechanical web-shooters from the comics in this one, and they're going into his parents' death and his relationship with Gwen Stacy.
the real spider man isn't. deal with it.

Spiderman is Peter Parker and Only Peter Parker, Even in other Parallel Universes he was still PETER PARKER !! it ain't about Color... it's about the Person inside we all Grew up with whether he was white/asian/black that doesn't matter, I understand that Marvel is trying to be more PC and trying attract minorities but they are forgetting that they are Alienating Original Fans of Spiderman including Minorities such as myself !
theend1245 5 months ago
Well spoken.Alot minority superheroes never lasted as long as their white counterparts because of a lack of creativity from the writers and poor marketing. And as an up and coming comicbook creator in my universe EVERYONE gets a chance to shine.

@circusboy90210 You must be on another Earth right now. Everyone else is talking about Spider-man and you are talking about stealing cars and painting them a different color.

JonnEarl 5 months ago
No one said a fuck when a white guy played as a typical american high school version of Goku on that shitty movie "Dragon Ball Evolution" LOL. But some racist normally thinks "Who cares? its a japanese superhero!" Damm i hate people that talks nonsense and dont realize that the world they have around is changing, Spiderman needed an Update according to the new era and Miles Morales is the result like it or not.
Arbalested 5 months ago
@Arbalested we led a boycott and even got one local theater not to show dragon ball or the last airbender.
geekdiasporaTV 5 months ago
@Arbalested no you can't change what someone is. if black people need a superheroe let them create their own instead of hijacking their another cultures icon. that has nothing to do with change .
circusboy90210 4 months ago
@circusboy90210 hijacking? Dude, the original spiderman stills alive on the amazing spiderman comics, if you dont like this new concept of marvel universe then just keep buying the original one, as i said... Goku was japanese and you americans made your own version... cmon, goku as a highschool teenager? some people liked it, some others just gave a shit and most people just hated it and rather keep watching the anime or manga because is what they prefer, at the end is just a new concept of goku
Arbalested 4 months ago
Dude, you are soo right i liked your video, Bless from Panama City, Panama

The same morons that are willing to kill off the only black person in a movie first. They make the black character the same way they portray blacks, dumb, unsecure, irresponsible, sex addicts and slow. Slow enough to get killed about halfway through the movie. Just like they killed offed the black X-Man that was supposed to have the same powers as Flash in the movie "Wolverine X-men Origins."

it's not kkk racism to knotice facts. nor is it racism for people to want to keep cultural heroes their own. get your own superheroes instead of stealing from another mans culture.

looks its cool if they change the race and all but if they make him gay that just does it. what are they trying to say about biracial people when they do that?
Krud14 5 months ago
@Krud14 They are not going to make him gay. That false rumor was spreaded over the internet by the racist idiots that hate the idea of a black/hispanic Spider-Man. Because those idiots can't stand to see a successful "minority race" superhero comic.
JonnEarl 5 months ago
@JonnEarl it's not success to steal another cultures icons get your own
circusboy90210 5 months ago
@circusboy90210 What on Earth are you talking about. This has absolutely nothing to do with stealing another cultures icon. You talk like Spider-Man is a white cultural icon and should only be white. Spider-man is admired by many races of people besides whites. Some of the producers of Spider-Man are Hispanic and Japanese. I guess you don't know as much as you thought you did about the background of Spider-Man.
JonnEarl 5 months ago
@JonnEarl every culture worships their own kid. black people even want a black jesus. it's about supplanting yourself in the position of the icon so that vicariously you are on top as well. if you admire something you leave it as it is inistead of changing it. if you want an icon that represents yourself then invent anotherone. otherwise you are stealing the icon. when someone steals a car the first thing they do is paint it a different color. to patrionize you represent the persons values.
circusboy90210 5 months ago
@JonnEarl Right on.

it's not success to steal another cultures icons get your own @circusboy90210 It was also the creators and producers of Spider-Man who decided to make the change. If someone other than the creators and producers of Spider-Man made the change, then your statement would be valid. Plagiarism is not what's going on. No lawsuits, no gimmicks, no fan films just the producers bringing a new character to the table.
JonnEarl 5 months ago
@circusboy90210 well let's get rid of the beatles, the rolling stones, eric clapton, and close to 80% of popular music because rock and roll was black folks music before all the culture vultures swooped done and robbed old black men for their publishing rights. be real careful how you frame your arguments. you could be pointing out just how illogical you are.
geekdiasporaTV 5 months ago
@geekdiasporaTV nobody got robbed it was not a conglomerate that did this, elvis copied the style because he liked it. the beatles copied nobody. there where also white men who invented style completely on their own. your comparing apples and dog shit. there where no blacks playing in the beatles style either.

Hispanic is not a race, neither is latino. Hispanics are the inhabitants of Hispannia (Spain)
Latinos are from Italy, France Spain, Portugal, Romania..
People from mexico and southamerica are not hispanics, they are hispanophone (or spanish-speaking) but not hispanics.
Hispanics can only be from Spain, Britannics can only be from Britain, Gallics can only be from france.
You dont call jamaicans britannics, right?. You shouldnt call mexicans/south americans hispanics.

And for the record, I've read Spidey since the 80s.
geekdiasporaTV 6 months ago
@geekdiasporaTV "place" not "lace"
geekdiasporaTV 6 months ago
@geekdiasporaTV I know exactly what you mean! The racists morons love it when blacks play villians, prostitutes, gangsters and things of that nature. But, if there be one single black cartoon heroioc character, let alone it be live-action, the racist morons have a nervous breakdown and call him or her gay before the scripts are written. They act as if its against the law and nature for a race other than Caucasian to play a descent character or hero in a movie, cartoon or TV show!
JonnEarl 5 months ago

Get a better rebuttal.
geekdiasporaTV 6 months ago
@geekdiasporaTV What has a white writer got to with you getting your own heroes? You get a better rebuttal.
Cap285 5 months ago
@Cap285 the writer made the choice to do it. it was his and marvel's call to shake up the ultimate universe. your argument opens a huge can of worms. that's like saying why is eminem rapping? shouldn't he get his own music? every white kid that studies an asian martial art--shouldn't they practice fencing instead of judo? you see how ridiculous your argument is? and how can a fictional hero be any one culture's. i bet you can't name 10 things (w/o google) that are strictly american culture.
geekdiasporaTV 5 months ago
@geekdiasporaTV It's complete deviation from the source material. It's blatant PC pandering. Miles looks just like Obama, wow, wondered how that happened. The Amazing Issue with Obama. This is just the worst form of PC ass-kissing I have seen. I never said Spider-Man was any cultures hero, people of all colors like him based on merit. The writers are lazy and come up with a new hero in my opinion. Are you telling me there will be no backlash when black characters are turned white? Please.
Cap285 5 months ago
Sure looks like you're in your moms basement. Get your own heroes.

Interesting, I used to collect Marvel Comics as a kid back in the early 70's, I was a bit too young back then to think about it but as I got older, politics came in, the question of the color and background of the comic superheroes occurred to me, I'm British born and raised but I'm also mixed-race or as you say in the US I'm bi-racial, part black part white so it certainly interested me, of course I stopped collecting comics ages ago so I lost touch, I didn't know PP got killed off :O
proff180 6 months ago
@proff180 Peter Parker did not get killed off. This storyline with Peter Parker's death is only in the Ulitmates universe, which is an alternate universe Marvel comics started in 2000 that is seperate from the main Marvel universe. Peter Parker isn't the only character killed off in Ulitmates; they've also killed off Wolverine, Cyclops, and many others. But Peter Parker is still alive and still Spider Man in the main Marvel universe title The Amazing Spider Man. Ultimates doesn't count.
44excalibur 5 months ago
@44excalibur
Ah, right, but this Alternative Universe Comic theme is not new actually, back in the 70's we had 'What If' comics which explored stories just like 'What If Peter Parker Died??' ...'What If The Green Goblin Was A Hero??' etc, as I stopped collecting some time ago (got far too old :D) I'm out of touch with it all now as I say, I did catch some of the superhero movies though out of curiosity, anyone know when Spiderman 4 will be out??
proff180 5 months ago
@proff180 You're referring to Marvel's 'What if?' series, which was cancelled sometime in the 80's. Yeah, the entire Ultimates universe is like one big 'What If?' issue that stretches across a whole line of comics, so nothing that happens in them has any effect on the main Marvel titles where Peter is alive and kicking....and apparently dealing with everyone in New York City suddenly having Spider-powers spread by infected bedbugs; not making this up.
44excalibur 5 months ago
@44excalibur
Oh dear, sounds like the stories are getting far too complicated :O , that said I suppose it's like real modern life in that sense.... tooo complicated :D, it was DC's head Carmine Infantino who once said back in the 70's that... "comics reflect history"...he was absolutely right, Stan Lee said the same thing, both Stan and Carmine were surprisingly good friends despite being in rival comic groups.
proff180 5 months ago
