@LordHez I think You're absolutely right. The first time I played penumbra, I was sweating from fear, as I played it In pitch black. Amnesia didn't have nearly the same effect.

What? I didn't face that bat creature when I played Penumbra! I've played Overture, Black Plague, and Requiem but that monster did NOT appear in any of those three. Either I'm missing something or I've got the wrong game.

Sort of like a more modern version of it. I generaly find mines and abandoned research facilities scarier than castles, but maybe that's just me.

I think mines are WAY scarier because there is no way to escape. Also what I think was missing in amnesia that was in penumbra was the puzzles, I loved them.

Imagine what an awesome game they could make if they combined the graphics and horror from amnesia with the setting and puzzles from penumbra. Seriously that game would be awesome.

I just beat Penumbra: Overture..fucking amazing game. The puzzles were fun, the game was atmospheric, the story is interesting. How come game sites don't talk about it? This is the problem with gaming today....people only give a shit about mainstream games like halo, COD, GTA, gears....just rehash after rehash. I felt like penumbra was a fresh breath of air because it was so different. I didn't kill any enemies, took my time exploring rooms, and had a grand experience. - Now a fan of Frictional!

@Roy9030 Source is not a Physic engine. It is Havok. all games by Valve are using Havok as physic engine. I didnt meaned it that way. Source is very good, but in older games which are using Havok

like Counter Strike or Half Life 2, It often has bugs if props are colliding(Did u ever tried the Mod garrysmod? u can spawn stuff there and it often happen that Props even kill u if u touch them.) Today Havok is very good for mass physics. Also, there a better graphic engines than source.

Oh sorry for the misunderstanding. But just to add I played Half Life 2 and it's my favorite old game, I didn't notice any problems with the physics during any of the game it was a perfect example to the start of good physics in a game.

But there are still grahpic engines that are better like cryengine 3 which will be used in Crysis 2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. today Havok is good in Mass Physics. Forget about my first comment, i didnt think before i posted.

Source is still being used is because the graphics and texture resolutions for the engine can be drastically controlled. If you have a good computer, you can ramp it up to a huge level of graphical detail, but if you don't, you can bring it down heaps to be able to play it....
