Looks like it is not the first avalanche of the season in that area as the snow "downstream" is quite dusty even before this avalanche and dust cloud reach it.

@KeredNegah So far this year there have been 3 large rock falls off of that face and a few smaller ones. The normal rate is one large rock fall every 5-10 years. Seems like our mother is finally waking up. I have a feeling we've pissed her off.

The Seattle Times reports this Rock and Ice Fall as a normal condition for the mountain. This has been an exceptional year for snow on the mountain, and the R&I Falls are bigger than in other years. These large happen about very 5 to 10 years.
