  • God how well does this Eccleshall sound!

  • i love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my favourites!!! How did you get that video from Yahoo??? :)

  • my favourite

  • masterpiece.

  • This has been their best song for the last 30 years.

This song, my teenage me drunk or drugged, a place playing this song and my not-so perfect life was perfect for the night. I wish for a timeshift.

  • Someday...I'm gonna have this song playing in my house. Everyday. People who drive by my house to get to work will then get it stuck in their heads. And it shall spread.

  • i will share this song..everyday........

  • When and why did ART like this go away and instead we get "jokes" and EmoScene shit :/ (BFMV and FAlling in reverse)....atleast these legends are still around doing what they do best and not being total ass sell outs....The Cure will live on forever...timeliess

  • very nice version

  • the intro was incredible!!!!

  • @ShadowMandalorian I was wrong, the whole song IS incredible!

  • Sheer class! the Cure are the best!

  • I don't know, it just doesn't sound right without the keyboard.

  • I never heard this song till I heard it on a famous movies I was watching n which they had this song playing in the background. The movie was called "Count Down to Zero" about th present day threat of nuclear weapons, which I had no idea it was that serious. yall should check it out. I watched it on "Letmewatchthis.ch" then go down and select "putlocker" to play it for free...

  • great performance...don't care bout the Jason...this sounds good to me... :)

  • After I played one of my best joyful songs on my live debut, this song was the perfect train to keep the show alive. I played it over this version: OT85SbJ-NH4

    Saludos!

  • the cornerstone of the soundtrack to my life

  • Bass is love

  • i need a beer

  • countdown to zer0

    :D

  • Man this song reminds me of playing "Wizardry II - Knights of diamonds" on my Tandy 1000sx(man I am a dork).

  • "After making love, at that moment when the heart drowses in the released body, filled only with the tender affection he might have felt for a winsome puppy, Mersault would smile at her and say, 'Hello, image.'" p. 26 (Albert Camus)

  • never get tired of watching this tune asewome

  • 17 Seconds...My fave album to get stoned to! Used to take me to another place.Fantastic band whove shown that you dont have to sell out to make it huge in music! Robert Smith & Simon Gallup ROCK!

  • Cure = a timeless time travelling machine 8-)

  • Cobain was a wanker.

  • @MrSodan11 Sorry but Kurt Cobain was as great as Robert Smith because both do music with the heart ;)

  • Kurt Cobain completely ripped off this.

  • @NarizSangrante no he didn't. any idea how many songs use a down down up down up down up strumming pattern? it's used in countless beatles songs. also the melodies are COMPLETELY different. the only similarity is the tempo and both are played on a clean electric sound.

  • I really like the first records. seventeen secounds is definetly a fuckin' masterpiece.

  • I cannot begin to describe how great this band was in the eighties and, the most original of them all. A real cult band forever that inspired other music trends that still persist.

  • "You´re falling in love with somebody else tonight..." I never thought I would find this song here!

  • This song is entrancing!! Such an excellent song!! There is no one like The Cure, no one!! And that is the way I love it!! :D I do so love The Cure!! ♥♥♥

  • he puts so much passion into his songs!

  • No one has mentioned just how annoying this video is. Every frame lasts a nano second. It's really frustrating. You want to see how they are playing the thing and it is just impossible thanks to some idiot cutting back and forth as if he's the piston in some engine. Fantastically brilliant song - and great rendition. Pity about the lousy direction.

  • (L)

  • the cure's songs are eternal

  • There music makes me want to close my eyes and get lost in the music.Robert Smith was my crush.

  • It's still a good tune.

  • oh 42 when i hear the cure im 16 again

  • Even better with age!!!

  • The best player Simon Gallup and the best Band to

  • the drummer has not tried to fit his playing to suit this song at all- what a dullard

  • my favourite track from 'seventeen seconds'

  • simply the best band of all time, great song-

  • WHO KNOWS THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR CHORDS?

  • @LCFlowercandy Em C and B for the verses. The part "you'll fall in love ..." is C, B, Em, G, C, B, Em. The solo is Am, Em, F#. It's really easy, go and find it on some website. ;)

  • Gallup's a bass guitars best friend

  • @rcuilty1 ..Like Tetsuo The Iron Man...Gallup and bass are one and the same...

  • I like this song so much. Since 20 years. Who is the real M?

  • @wuno08 Mary and Marion the girlfriends of robert and simon

  • The Cure playing a f*** great song from the very good old days!! love this song.

  • i like so much this version of the song... there´s any way to download it? i wish i could hear it with my ipod :D

  • @DittaKruspe How do you mean this version?

  • @tamburlaine79 if you listen de original version from the album seventeen seconds, is not the same rythm, the solo at begining the song is with guitar and no bass, even the speed of the song is faster here than the album version...

  • @DittaKruspe there's a program for downloading audio from youtube videos, but i don t know the name

  • @DittaKruspe Hi, a little late :-), but if you're still interested in converting YouTube vids into mp3's: Google for mp3ify. Cheers from an old Cure lover, L.

  • @Listendudeok Thanks!!! :D

  • what's the name of this drummer ???

  • @jaquesTNT Jason Cooper ...

  • Quelle horreur ce batteur.........

  • Hang the editor! It cheapens the whole experience.

  • Excellent music, song really makes impression

  • Brilliant!

  • the best of the best 4 ever CURE

  • Simon truly has the most simplistic and best sounding bass lines in music, hands down.

  • awesome

  • wow didnt think it was possible, but i almost like him MORE now that hes old and ugly!

  • I first heard The Cure in the early 1980s, and I still think they are one of the very best bands ever. They're the whole package.

  • The Cure keeps me back in time. Like all the others as The Chameleons, The Sound, Au Pairs XTC Please gimme more M M M M mmmmm

  • exxxellent

  • exxxellent

  • I think this is even better than the studio version

  • @joaoftl I agree. I prefer the bass intro. Actually, there are a few of their songs I prefer live over the studio version.

  • This sounds fantastic!!!!

  • cool fuckin band, still consider the shit!

  • Amazing version of 'M'. Wow. Be still my heart...

The REASONS are CLEAR as Crystal !!!

  • AMAZING performance of this song. Still moves me so after all these years! ;)

  • @LipsLikeSugar78 same here....music triggers emotions like you wouldn't believe...

  • the cure still has that special thing!

there music still makes me drift away!

    just dream forever!

just love the cure! realy just love them!

  • Smith is a very underrated songwriter.

Although he's known for being capable of writing the best (Seventeen Seconds) and the worst (everything over 1991).

  • Smith is not a musical genius, but he knows what he's doing.

Althought he's known to create the best (Seventeen Seconds) and the worst (everything over 1996).

  • @TheMercurySmile they have like 8 classic masterpeices of records but it's not genius? up and away runt. on yer bike. yew aren't wanted here!!

  • @TheMercurySmile wow his late stuff is great you didnt like wish? or bloodflowers your just stupid

  • unique band

    the cure rocks

  • Thanks!:)

  • "As "Killing An Arab" is inspired by Albert Camus' Book "The Stranger" "M" is also inspired by "A Happy Death" by Albert Camus."

  • @1969Brookie

I am sure I read somewhere that the title, M was a ref to his sister? I met her once, I went with a mate to thestage door at the end of a Cure show at the hammersmith palais and she opened the door when we knocked, said we could stay tomeet the band, which we did...

  • @kbr61263 I thought M was about Mary his then girlfriend, now wife

  • @jnmud yeah,I am sure yr right,I have the name mary in my head, not sure why I thoughtit was his sister, but thatmakes more sense

  • @kbr61263 or his wife.. mary...

  • I so love this song!! The Cure is such a kick ass band!! They have been rockin for 30 years now and their music still sounds so fresh to this day! The Cure is truly a band who has stood the test of time! Robert has such a unique voice that just fits so perfectly with the sound and style of their music totally! Such an awesome and amazing band!! Rock on forever Cure!!

  • @darkforest121 I am of the same opinion of course. I wonder if people are aware that The Cure (then known as Easy Cure) actually said NO to a recording contract with Ariola Hansa (their contemporaries Japan got the deal) because they felt they had no intention of selling out, doing cheap pop songs, for anybody or any reason. I guess that philosophy was 100% right.

  • @MowgliX Exactly my friend! And look at them today. They never sold out and always stood by what music they wanted to play even though they knew that without doing the cheap pop songs, they would only be noticed by those who looked deeper into bands other than what was playing on the radio at the time and they have lasted longer than any of those cheap pop song bands!! The Cure is still rockin today!! Yeah!! :)

  • @darkforest121 They even did a fun little song called Do The Hansa about the episode when they said NO to Ariola Hansa, the German record company:

    Ein zwei drei vier

    Steve oh yeah

    Platinum all the way

    Do the Hansa

    Do the Hansa

The Steve mentioned is Steve Jansen, Japan's drummer and keyboardist, brother of David Sylvian, if I remember correctly... ;) But this was years before my time.

  • @MowgliX Awe yes, Do the Hansa!! Great song with such a great little beating there!! :P It is like when they did Grinding Halt but changed up the words to attack that idiotic journalist who bashed them . I love the spunk that The Cure has. It is that edge about Robert that really has kept this band number one in my book. I love how The Cure doesnt give into the industry or establishment!! And you gotta love when he does his lip sync numbers!! Rock on Cure forever!! ☺☺

  • @darkforest121 Do a search for "The Cure - Grinding Halt (John Peel Session 1979)" or "Desperate Journalist in Ongoing Meaningful Review Situation"! It's on YouTube. Yeah, Robert is great; he didn't have to sell out, and he knew it: too talented. They have been doing this since 1976, and they are still around. But it's quite amazing they all survived the era when The Top was released - that could easily have been the end of The Cure as a band and for the band members personally too.

  • @MowgliX I have the Peel sessions so I know what you are talking about!! Great stuff there!! And I have to agree with you on the Top album, the era, and the band member's personal issues but that just proves that a wonderful band like The Cure will prevail!! ☺♥

  • @darkforest121 And The Cure are still relevant - they still release real albums. In 1978, Sid had just knifed Nancy at the Chelsea Hotel and punk had capsized terribly. Then this band from Crawley in England appeared and took rock music to a whole new level.

  • @MowgliX (I adore both The Cure & Japan) Ironically, Late Japan & post-Japan developed into avant garde and The Cure grew ever poppier. But I heard they were both in the same competition for the aforementioned deal.

  • great song!!!

  • The Cure makes me stop and listen every time. Doesn't matter what mood I'm in :)

  • ditto

  • "M" like Mary?

  • Awesome! Thanks

  • sounds incredible, 30 years later :I

not much bands sound this good after such a long carreer

  • Anymore videos of this brief time when they were a 3 piece... Love this "back to the basics" Cure

  • yes, 'm' stands for mary. at the time robert was doing lots of speed and frequently cheated on her. look up 'secrets' from the same album. the boston live version on youtube is brilliant... xx

  • okay now you broke my imagef of Robert. I dunno why but I always thought he was totally WITH Mary all the time, no groupies and stuff.I guess it was a childish thing to believe.

i don't blame him, he was doing drugs and it's obvious how much he loves her.

  • I love Gallup's bass!

  • @GRIBOUILLE69

  • @SkatteMatte Damn right. Throbbing direction. Understated brilliance. Carries it so well. The song is wonderful, but it needed that kind of understanding..

  • @SkatteMatte Bass...? I thought when you said, Gallup, you said bass already...

    Isn't it the same meaning?

    regards,

  • Best band ever!!

  • @anitrax17 yes, undoubtedly. 100%

The Cure

  • I never like Jason ... and I have always love Boris ... I miss Bob, Simon, Boris, Porl and Perry ...

  • Boris is the best drummer The Cure will ever have!

  • yess¡¡¡

  • Lawrence Tolhurst plays better than Jason and had a way better sound too. Live and in studio.

Sadly when Boris left, The Cure went down and down...

  • Lawrence Tolhurst on drums plays?!? are you serious?

  • tolhurst plays better than copper ?????? ...., jajaja, are you a drummer or musician ?.... can´t beleive you are telling this must be a joke ...
