I have a better appreciation for Superman 4 than 3 because 3 was written around Richard Pryor because he casually mentioned that he wanted to be in a Superman Movie. This one had an overlying theme to it, albeit stupid, and that is how it works better, I would watch this one in 3D if it was released.
"Nothing's changed. The weapons are still there, as they were in the 80s. And America's still got a policy to strike first to win a nuclear war against Russia, and although that sounds alarmingly stupid, it's the Pentagon's posture. "Millions of people in the United States were involved in the anti-nuclear movement of the 1980s. They watched The Day After [AND SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE] with dread. Now the people need to be reawakened to the impending threat of nuclear war, and like the tiny trim tab rudder built into the large rudder of a ship, as it turns and they move, the whole ship of state will turn towards life and not death."

@NukeAllSnarks Personally, I've never been nuked and I don't have any friends who have either. Why don't we try to figure out how to end world famine and then start worrying about some missiles sitting unused under the ground.

great edit. but i have to say that superman IV is pretty close to my heart and when i say that i am refering to the longer 134 minute verson of the film. Nice work with your trailer
Given what's going on in Japan right now, you snide, bitchy fans ought to be ashamed of yourselves -- turning your noses up at a movie promoting nuclear aboltion while psychotically obsessing over TRIVIAL flaws ...

I'm sick and tired of inbred retards talking shit -- there's NOTHING wrong with The Quest for Peace! Abolishing nuclear weapons is FAR more important than "suspension of disbelief" or whether some already colossally spoiled suburbanite was enraptured by a cinematic experience!
This is just my opinon, but i like Superman IV better than III. Yea both movies suck but at least in IV, they didnt treat superman like a joke. They tried to make a good movie, but just some unfortunate things happend. Superman III was a Richard Pryor comedy featuring Superman. Superman IV is just a bad movie that was made with good intentions
Full credit to you for this. The pacing of your trailer is spot on. It really does build to a great climax and actually leaves you wanting to see the film. You relly have grasped what makes a good trailer for this genre of film so congratulations on your success.I'd like to see you do the same with Superman 3 if you already havent :)
While they were in the middle of filming this, the studio cut the films budget in half so thats why the effects ended up looking so bad. As the others have said, you actually made this movie look good. Great job!
Id imagine its really hard to make such a cheap and poorly made film look epic and exciting, but you did it... excellent work. Although the film is awful, Hackman and Reeve are fantastic as always... such a shame that was Reeve's final performance as Superman, the series deserved better.

"Depending on where fallout landed, you would get acute radiation sickness, within days develop alopecia with your hair dropping out, bleeding, severe nausea, diarrhea, severe headaches, and you die within days of acute radiation sickness. If you're not exposed to as high a level as that, but you inhale or ingest radioactive isotopes from the fallout and they concentrate in the food chain by orders of magnitude, the food would be radioactive for hundreds of years."

"ONE single failure of nuclear deterrence could end Human history ... Russia and the U.S. hold the Human race and all other species captive and at nuclear ransom. I am sickened that we still play this deadly game of nuclear risk with our fragile planet. There are NO national or political goals that justify a war that could terminate Human existence."

davincent98, YOU'RE the one who stupid -- the "overlying theme" of The Quest for Peace may very well have saved us from Reagan's madness; from a nuclear holocaust, so suck on the pus from a herpes canker sore, why don'tcha?

"I had seen a television show in Boston. Children were talking about what it is like to grow up in the ATOMIC age. At the same time, people were saying that I had the attention of the kids and that I should take advantage of that, so I said, OK, here's a way to consider this topic. needed the motivation to really want to play Superman again."

The early warning system is so fragile that anything could set it off."

... fans obsessing over The Quest for Peace's trivial flaws are also "alarmingly stupid." Fuck special effects and fuck suspension of disbelief! PRIORITIES, people!

Famine is a problem, but if there's a nuclear holocaust, finding something to eat will be the LEAST of your worries ...
"Nuclear war is a problem that can be treated only theoretically. It is NOT amenable to experimentation ...The delicate ecological relations that bind together organisms on Earth in a fabric of mutual dependency would be torn, perhaps irreparably. The Human population would be reduced to prehistoric levels, or less."

Promoting nuclear abolition is FAR more important, I repeat, FAR more important than whether some already colossally SPOILED fanboy was enraptured by a cinematic experience!
STOP wasting time/effort being bitchy about TRIVIA, embrace the Quest for Peace's MESSAGE and help abolish nukes!
NukeAllSnarks 9 months ago
@NukeAllSnarks Personally, I've never been nuked and I don't have any friends who have either. Why don't we try to figure out how to end world famine and then start worrying about some missiles sitting unused under the ground.

"Except for fools and madmen, everyone knows that nuclear war would he an unprecedented Human catastrophe ... In a 2-megaton explosion over a fairly large city, buildings would be vaporized, people reduced to atoms and shadows, outlying structures blown down like matchsticks and raging fires ignited."

... fools, madmen and snide bitchy fans who're psychotically obsessed with the TRIVAL flaws of a movie trying the promote peace.

great edit. but i have to say that superman IV is pretty close to my heart and when i say that i am refering to the longer 134 minute verson of the film. Nice work with your trailer

Given what's going on in Japan right now, you snide, bitchy fans ought to be ashamed of yourselves -- turning your noses up at a movie promoting nuclear aboltion while psychotically obsessing over TRIVIAL flaws ...
... clearly, it's going to take someplace predominantly white getting nuked before y'all finally get it through your thick skulls ...
