  • "well a teacher of mine once told me- that life was just a list of dissapointments and defeats, and you could only do your best- and i said well thats a fucking cop-out" Greatest lyrics ever xD

  • Few like this now! Hope he really gets the recognition that's rightly deserved!

  • It's amazing how he discribes his feelings and thoughts in this ONE song. I love the music of Frank Turner!!! *.*

  • Wow. Seriously.

  • Hearing this live is just incredible. Everyone in the room would follow Frank to hell and back, with straight backs and no fear. My very favourite song.

  • Jesus, imagine it was a US foreign policy reference, that'd be the dullest reference ever.

PS. 1905 was a lovely revolution, with worker control and shit, not like the wanker one in 1917. All power to the soviets and that, what what.

  • The man should be paying homage to Billy fucking Bragg.Last of the greats? One of just another gifted songwriter for mine. Check back in 20 yrs and see where he went. Not a bad effort lyrically but i hardly expect Gen Y to embrace a view different to their own.

  • Badass

  • Maybe the last rebel song ? before Thatchers kids came to laugh at all of us ,who stood up in the 80's

  • This could be the best folk song of this generation.

  • me this dude on a plane today!

  • @forever182x you are a lucky person:)

  • "Let's be 1905 and not 1917" has to be the geekiest anarchist reference in a song ever.

  • @molly0000000s

Except I don't think it's an anarchist reference at all.

Unless there's some major 1905 anarchist event I'm missing, and the 1917, you're probably confusing the date for the assassination of archduke ferdinand, which was 1914.

I believe it's actually a reference to US foreign policy. Namely Teddy Roosevelt won a Nobel Peace prize in 1905 for negotiating the end of the russo-Japanese war, compared to Woodrow Wilson's throwing off of isolationism in 1917 to join in WWI. Still nerdy

  • @pugslayer dude, 1917 was the Bolshevik revolution, and 1905 was a similar revolution (that failed) that was a more naive and idea oriented revolution. Frank is English (and a socialist), why would he care at all about us foreign policy, the US didn't even matter in those years. Great Britain was the world's superpower back then.

  • lovelovelove

  • The Music of life :D

  • I love you

  • This is by far my favorite Frank Turner song, just because it is so damn raw, and so damn inspirational.

  • Frank inspires me to be the best person I can be and stand up for what I believe in. It's amazing what music can do to a person.

  • I feel like this after just a year of being politically active. Some protesters are full of their own shit and dogma. I'd love for them to join the real world.

But every time I put my coat on the hook, this fucking evil government does something else and another scandal happens with the banks, and then I hear a caseworker at my work telling some older person they didn't get a much needed benefit due to evil cuts.

  • My dad is the teacher mentioned in this song. True.

  • Definately one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard.

  • @juancarlosvlogs

They're references to the 1905 and 1917 Russian Revolutions.

  • @mobius212 thanks a lot mate! i'll research it

  • can anyone tell what does "let's be 1905 but not 1917" means?

  • The perfect song.

  • what kind of shit teachers did frank turner have?! xD

  • @heinzie5 The same ones I did.

  • @heinzie5 - ones with doctorates from Oxbridge, of course. It was Eton! What else do you expect?

  • @TheCullenFamily1 frank turner went to eton?! say it aint so! i guess he is a winchester kid though. they are pretty posh. im kinda half way between winchester and southampton, outside of the posh zone xD

  • @heinzie5 Yup. Frank Turner, OE. Just like George Orwell. ;)

  • @heinzie5 Yuuuup, his grandfather was a bloody Lord.

  • I'm 15 and pretty sure I'm already going through a mid-life crisis. This song makes me feel so much better about life.

And for that, Frank Turner, I worship you.

  • @AnnaGoesToThePark

I really hope you arnt going through a mid-life crisis, that would mean you think your going to die at 30. But anyway i hope things get better for you(:

  • @AnnaGoesToThePark It's alright, I know what you mean. I had a very depressing stage when I was around 15 as well. And that's when punk rock saved my life and developed my personality. Like Frank says, punk rock gives you a sense of independence, and just because you say fuck the system fuck authority doesn't mean you can't be a good person and do good things and make a positive impact on the world.

  • @AnnaGoesToThePark know how you feel and im only a year older

  • @AnnaGoesToThePark That comment summed up myself, I'm glad I'm not the early mid-life crisis at 15! Frank Turner is an absolute legend and has got me through me a lot, worship him we all must!

  • @AnnaGoesToThePark Actually, there's mounting evisdence to suggest that "quarter-life crisis" is a very real prospect. On the bright side, reasearch also suggests that you emerge from quarter-life crisis a stronger person than when you went in.

  • @Thunderwolf666 hmmm...sounds interesting. Do you know the researchers or institutions involved?

  • I feel for people who say this makes them feel British, this makes me wish I felt British, but I'm American and every single one of this man's songs has always seemed like something everyone can get behind, from everywhere. Great to see so many people like such amazing music.

  • Frank Turner is my hero

  • This is, hands down, the most inspirational song I have ever had the privilege to hear.

  • Jeder Text so belehrend und jedes Lied nahezu episch!

  • Been fighting the system for the last 40 years.

Heard this for the first time tonight.

This is everything which is right, wrong and indifferent about England.

    Fucking awesome.

    I Insist on the impossible.

  • hell of a song! great meaning!

  • youtube needs a repeat button or something... I listened to this eight times in a row

  • "That's a fucking cop-out!" Favorite song by FT, and as someone has said before and i'll second, this is proper punk!

  • what a man :)

  • @Moarbiscuits, your definition is so stupid, vitamins and minerals are separate things you tit!

    Bloody Yanks!

  • @dandantherandomman UMadLimey?

  • I think this may be the greatest song ever written.

  • But she's always a woman to meee. Copied chords much?

  • Comment removed

  • do vitamin pills really help with a hangover? not sure why im asking since i useually dont get them....

  • two words, FUCK YEA

  • @Nisshoku1729 Actually, vitamins stands for VITAL MINERALS, so pronouncing it VAI-TA-MINS is the correct way of saying that word.

  • @Moarbiscuits

Actually the word vitamin comes from the Latin word for life (vita in its nominative singular) and amine (because when the word was formed scientists believed vitamins to contain amino acids) so the pronunciation of the first syllable in Latin would be closer to Frank's pronunciation (makes sense since Frank probably studied a bit of latin at Eton). Really though either is correct as the same Latin root gives us both the word vital and vivisection, so the pronunciation can vary.

  • Is there any other music out there that is so honest, so passionate, that every single time you listen to it you get goosebumps and a shiver down you're spine. I believe this man, is the last of the greats.

  • @TheSarge21 you like this, listen to Brian Fallon's acoustic of "She Loves You"

  • Marry me frank?

  • Only thing not perfect in this album is the way he says "vitamin" in this song and "bistro" in Prufrock...pisses me off so much haha, but seriously great song and album.

  • @RdSoxFan618 That's how the British pronounce vitamin

  • @RdSoxFan618

I'm sure you saying vAItamin would piss him off as well.

British pronunciation actually makes more sense.

  • why the fuck didn''t anyone introduce me to the music of frank turner any sooner?

  • @jonesey109 I know the feeling, I went to see him on a whim. my mate ha a spare ticket to him, I had no idea who he was but went along with it, free gig, fuck yeah. then bam. love at first site.

  • omg... What a song!

  • Frank Turner, please come back to Dallas TEXAS>>

    I need you..

  • @1lowlife its just not the same since he went away

  • First time listening to this song, and artist...and I can already tell I am gonna be a fan. God, how I love unpolished, skeletal, and well-written but visceral music. The world needs more of it.

  • @ANTIanitmetalclub Thats such a beautiful description of what he does "skeletal, and well-written but visceral music"

  • @cfcolly

Haha, thanks, man. Reviewing music is a hobby of mine. :)

  • Chris really is brilliant.

  • Ergh, not looking forward to the future :-(

  • @eddiemarriott Toyface 'Beige Walls' i bet you would like this song

  • One of the greatest albums ever written i.m.o.

  • I remember, I was in the pub with a very good mate of mine and a German friend of ours. She was asking what it's like to be British these days. At that moment, this song came on the juke box. Me and him sang our hearts out, every word. Afterward I said to her, "Basically that."

  • @OtherAlex I'm gonna subscribe to you just for that comment, haha

  • @joemccorriston I'd better post some videos then =P

  • @baza73

Actually sums up much about the left in this country. Thoguh I'm a bitter bynical lefty who shouts at the news and has realised the childish certainties have faded as i grew up. ;-) basically i really relate to this song

  • @baza73 lol @ irony

  • WOW.....a word song...I hates me some word songs.

  • He reminds me of Billy brag but more our era

  • @Walkthestraightthing Yeah, like a Billy Bragg who can actually sing... :)

  • love him<3

  • Britan's very own Bob Dylan... yeah.

  • Well, that teacher sounds like a wanker.

  • how could any one dislike this?!

  • Saw Frank, Lucero, and Social Distortion in Dallas. All three bands in what was the greatest night of my life!

  • @marcosbullock that must have been AMAZING!!!! I'm seeing frank in may and saw Social D last month, but Lucero got stuck in reno due to snow that night so I missed them

  • looking forwward to download more than ever now :D

  • FRAN TURNER IS CHUCK NORRIS IN DISGUISE

  • fucking inspiration!!

  • He looks strangely like Mark Watson on this album cover.

If only those two people were one.

  • AMAZING!

  • I want to marry his lyrics and have children with his music.

  • There are so many positive comments on this video... Frank Turner is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • 'I won't be such a coward'

    I can only hope. :)

  • Can't get much better than this.

  • i like how he say vitamin lol

  • @dcdude171 Why?

  • @emthedrummer he prounces it like , vit-i-min , instead of vita-min , im american btw so im not used to that pronounceation

  • @dcdude171 Oh, I thought everyone pronounced it like that. :L It's like vase, I didn't know what they were talking about when they said it on some American programme.

  • 4 people are just washed up & tired

  • This is proper Punk.

  • this makes me want to drink and run around the streets shouting a yuppies in suits!

  • i saw him last night at the cambridge corn exchange, and he was absolutely amazing. when he started playing this song and long live the queen, i felt that little lump in my throat and tears welling up in my eyes. such beautiful lyrics which can mean so much to so many people. love him and all of his songs :)

  • Damn... pretty Skatepunk/Hardcore.. but this dude gets me right in the soul...

  • Inspiring song. Credit to Mr Turner

  • I really shouldn't listen to this in school; I've cried all my eyeliner off.

I hope that Frank never stops playing, and never stops making things beautiful.

  • I'm probably like 1,000 of these views. So. Fucking. Good.

  • @ViolentDelights23 That means you should probably just buy it! I think frank might appreciate that.

  • I'm an activist and a radical like Frank was when he was younger...this song is very very touching and sad. I don't want to end up burned out like that :/

  • I absolutely love this song, nose to the grindstone, getting it done theres a fine line between grufter and rockstar then there is jesus which for that Frank Turner you make me feel like I Could be AS GOOD AS YOU< I REALLY DO!! Fuck but I will, face the west, thats the view that I like best,

  • so come on lets be young lets be crass enough to care, lets refuse to live and learn, lets make all our mistakes again YES!

  • He's like Billy Bragg but for our generation and totally epical :)

  • holy shit, this song had me in tears, ive listened to it hundreds of times but this time it really got me

  • this guy used to be a busker and now look at him just prooves anything is possible

  • @alfalfie i don't think frank turner was ever a busker...pretty sure he started out by singing in punk bands, moved onto million dead, and then picked up an acoustic guitar after that.

  • Anyone feel parts of this relate to education cuts in the UK at the moment?

  • im in love.

  • All the things that I believed with all my heart when I was young, are just coasters for beers and clean surfaces for drugs... Hear hear Frank, can't wait to see him in Richmond...

  • This guy"s popularity is going to explode at some point.

  • @jasonnm72 The bands that actually need to get popular because they have great messages are never going to because the radio literally searches for the shittiest thing they can find. It's stupid.

  • In short, I can relate to this, the voice of the 90's English generation.

  • @OtherAlex ahhh, the 90's.

I wish i grew up then.

  • This guy has a profound knowledge of poetry. Throughout this album he makes both vague and overt references to various poems.

  • @thespainisharmada i found out about this from a friend of mine and i am blown away by the lyrics

  • he's so freakin good!!!!!

  • Officially added to the "I'd go gay for list".

  • @rickygable I just started my list. He's number 1.

  • @rickygable haha nice

  • @rickygable Dude... no.

  • @SetabnhoJ Wait i forgot to say "no homo".

  • @rickygable He is at the top of mine :)

  • Shame about the likes and dislikes of youtube comments... just means its turned into a comment contest about who can get the most thumbs up... shame really pretty pathetic... i read all these comments and theyre all just battling it out but good song anyhow lol

  • Frank is a poet. It took me 1 song to be a life long fan.

  • @hellcattim exactly the same

  • so much we always wanted to say...

  • This song sums up, my childhood

    Frank turner is amazing

    simple :)

  • I LOVE YOU FRANK TURNER!! :P

    ...not gay! :P

  • I love that this guy is getting the recognition he fucking deserves <3

  • two thumbs up for this line:

So come on let's be young, let's be crass enough to care

Let's refuse to live and learn, let's make all our mistakes again yes

And then darling, just for one day, we can fight and we can win

And if only for a little while, we could insist on the impossible

  • Wow, just discovered Frank Turner. This is brilliant.

  • Dear Frank Turner,

This songs speaks and woos my soul.

    Sincerely,

    A quickly-becoming-die-hard-fan

  • this song is one of the most moving pieces i have ever heard

  • i never even heard of frank untill 3 days ago when a very good friend of mine sent me the link to Long Live the Queen, once i heard it i had to start getting all his music, he has an amazing sound and his music is so true, he speaks his mind and doesnt hold back for anyone.

  • this is mine and jacks song x

  • *sniff* :')

  • i just hope people understand this song and do as it says, not just listen to it

  • This man is a fucking genius <3

  • who would dislike a song like this? it's absolutely amazing!!

  • hmmm...i think i could marry this song...:)

  • I love Frank Turner but his negativity at the beginning of this song breaks my heart. Chin up Frank, never stop believing.

  • @uchoobusername1980 That's life.

  • @zmiller965 I disagree, and always will :)
