Most scholars who study these docs will admit that no one knows who wrote them. The names of the Gospels were added by the writers, probably to make people believe they were written by the disciples, but we know this is not true. The history of the bible has alot of credibility, more than all other historical documents - you need to do your home work! The bible is written by men but inspired by God. My faith is not blind faith, there is much evidence to support the bible and it's accounts. You just need to look with a open mind.

History books don't claim supernatural events as fact. Just because the Bible coresponds to the history of the Middle East doesn't make it a history book. We have all sorts of books with stories that are rooted in history but enough license has been taken with the stories so as to make them fiction. The Bible is largely mythology. You can still draw value from it if you want but you're being dishonest by portraying it as a reliable history book.

There's no doubt that language drift and translation gaps were present in the preservation of the original texts. However, the fact that the meaning and context of texts were preserved over two thousand years are proof positive that the origin of the documents live-up to their claims. Now one can argue this all they want, but the facts speak for themselves.

@SmalltimR To answer your question; I have never questioned that God does not exist. You are all over the place now. Try just sticking to the conversation as it unfolds, or is that a problem for you? Testimony of others can be helpful, but the main we learn is through personal experience. For instance, you believe Jesus died for your sins and upon entering the spirit world, you find yourself in a very dark place. This is exactly what the testimony of thousands of christians is.
Also I'd agree on your criticism of the priesthood and the bible.
And what's more interesting is that this even and time-period was forecasted or prophesied in the NT.
However, none of this stood in the way of the fulfillment of prophesies that would follow in our day. And so I think the crux of the issue revolves around the acknowledgement of what the scriptures have to say on matters in order to come to a completely understanding of information in question.

This was my point about manipulation: It certainly did not have to be God that directed this information about our times. Try those that have control over us; ie. the elite of this world. Their bloodlines go back many hundreds of years, and since they have been in control, they could easily, through the bible, tell us what they were going to do to us. Many now think they have corrupted the bible.

If you look through your history books you'll find that there were pockets of bible students(Christians) throughout the dark ages who preached the kingdom of God. And though they were killed and prosecuted for doing so, it was them who kept the name of God alive until the rebuilding of the temps(symbolically speaking of course).

As for the issue of historical accuracy, such details work to raise the level of credibility toward the validity of the document. ie. how reliable is the information? from a contextual perspective, reliability is built-up from a number of indicators that would serve as evidence toward the validity and candor of the document in question. However, this alone does not constitute the manuscripts most impressive error correction framework which is that of cross-referencing.

I fail to see how chasing one verse to another as a way to interpret validates anything at all. Bottom line: neither of us can prove the bible is the word of god. It is unknowable. In closing, saying a record need be either flawless or perfect is likely an intellectual trap with reference to the purpose and intent of scriptures per say. When considering the Ark stories we should also look where it came from and how the story devoloped over time from around the Middle East, The earliest known flood stories from the area is in what is now Iraq. You cant have an Ark debate without considering that.

Guys, the bible is just a book of moral, which means that it might have been just written by a normal human being, but a human who wanted to be the one to show some people (like all you haters) what's good and bad. While this is the oldest surviving document it should not be considered the oldest code of Egyptian ethics. We can assume that these were around long before 1250 BCE, and written long before any OT and NT documents.

Most scholars who study these docs will admit that no one knows who wrote them. The names of the Gospels were added by the writers, probably to make people believe they were written by the disciples, but we know this is not true. The history of the bible has alot of credibility, more than all other historical documents - you need to do your home work! The bible is written by men but inspired by God. History books don't claim supernatural events as fact. Just because the Bible coresponds to the history of the Middle East doesn't make it a history book. We have all sorts of books with stories that are rooted in history but enough license has been taken with the stories so as to make them fiction. The Bible is largely mythology. You can still draw value from it if you want but you're being dishonest by portraying it as a reliable history book.

Testimony of others can be helpful, but the main we learn is through personal experience. If you look through your history books you'll find that there were pockets of bible students(Christians) throughout the dark ages who preached the kingdom of God. As for the issue of historical accuracy, such details work to raise the level of credibility toward the validity of the document. ie. how reliable is the information? from a contextual perspective, reliability is built-up from a number of indicators that would serve as evidence toward the validity and candor of the document in question. However, this alone does not constitute the manuscripts most impressive error correction framework which is that of cross-referencing.

I fail to see how chasing one verse to another as a way to interpret validates anything at all. Bottom line: neither of us can prove the bible is the word of god. It is unknowable. In closing, saying a record need be either flawless or perfect is likely an intellectual trap with reference to the purpose and intent of scriptures per say. Mainly as the bible does not establish its authority by textual value alone but rather in the message it renders to its readers. To which I'd ask... do the available scriptures accomplish their goal as the word of God?
I believe the truth is out there to all who seek it, thus validating the claims.

But, that's only if you believe in the Bible, which is a fraudulent collection of books. I also found that the Hebrew language is not Hebrew but Canaanite, so the original Hebrew Bible was written in the Canaanite language. I also found that the God of the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was the same God of the Canaanites.
I also found Manetho, their has been a great deal of cover up from the beginning.

I did not find what you stay you found after all of your research. I found that the creation story was plagiarized from Sumer, Babylon, Canaan and Egypt. I found that NO Pharaohs of Egypt die in a Red Sea/Reed Sea during the time of Moses.
I found that NO God spoke to the Priest in Israel Temple, they got their messages from the Urim and Thummim which are said to be STONES which is said to be DIVINATION! Did you miss this information during your research?

The only line in this that I agree with is "read the bible from cover to cover". Nothing will deconvert you quicker than reading the Bible carefully. Do it yourself study groups often will pick and choose, tell you why something doesn’t mean what it means or just glance over stuff hard on faith and move to stuff that they consider reaffirming.

I don't get what this guy is saying - is he saying the bible is true that there was a talking snake that tempted Eve and a Noah's ark which carried all living species of animal and a man who lived inside a fish or even that the earth is only 6,000 years old. You can get all get mad about it or accept the fact that bible is incomplete! But their is only one scripture that describes everything..called Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. The bible tells, the whole world was flooded, covering the highest peeks. HOW THE HELL DID THEY KNOW THE WHOLE EARTH WAS FLOODED ? They didn`t know the world was a sphere. When considering the Ark stories we should also look where it came from and how the story devoloped over time from around the Middle East, The earliest known flood stories from the area is in what is now Iraq. You cant have an Ark debate without considering that.

Guys, the bible is just a book of moral, which means that it might have been just written by a normal human being, but a human who wanted to be the one to show some people (like all you haters) what's good and bad. It really doesn't matters how illogical the bible is because what's truly valuable about this book is what it's trying to teach to us: stop being so negative or you'll never find true happiness and you'll just be blinded by your own hatred. The bible, in my opinion is just another book that has been made up of religous biliefs, you would say that the Quran is not true, every religion in the world will argue against each other to come on top. What makes this religion diffrent from each other, is it has one god. I have read the bible and I do not bilieve its true, it seems like a.....not to be offencive, strories put together over thousands of years. One of the stories I know must be fake is Noah and the Ark.
