  • Love this song .. He's the best

  • Love you Waylon, see you in Heaven.

  • Ha! I didn't even notice how old it was. I'm just a big Waylon fan and like to read these comments sometimes to see how he's touched people in various ways. And yes, you're right. As the story goes, his kicking the coke led to his diabetes diagnose (as he started eating like a horse to deal with the withdrawals), which led to his death. So in a way, you could say the cocaine killed him--20 years after he stopped using it. Sad.

  • I'm 13 and have liked Waylon since I was in a car seat. There will never be anyone like him! R.I.P.

  • Wish I'd been privilaged to see this concert. One of the best country singers ever. Miss you Waylon.

  • no one sings a love song like this man! what makes it so mysterious is his wild side!

  • I sing this song to my wife all the time (this and Good Hearted Woman). She's fit for royalty and she chose to marry an ornery ass SE Missouri boy like myself?

Please don't ever lose your love of the old 'real' classic country music! !

It's one of the few REAL things in modern society!

  • When Waylon sang, you could smell the smoke and taste the whiskey. What a voice. Miss you , Hoss

  • they don't make them like that anymore.

  • RIP RALPH MOONEY, GREATEST STEEL PLAYER EVER...Listen to the Moon......Jamming with Waylon once again...

  • His voice does not seem to reflect all his legendary drinking.

    /

  • @spoildn8410 Waylon hardly ever drank. He did coke instead! It's in his autobiography.

  • @editorkim I cannot believe my comment here is nine months old.

It is hard to live around someone who has kicked something, no matter what

    it is.

  • A true Singer/Songwriter. One that will never be forgotten & is sadly missed by all. Hope you are playing in the Honky-Tonk Bars up there, raisin' hell!!

  • Listen to the Moon........................

  • He is/was of the rare breed of country singers we will not see again.

  • The King of Country...Waylon Jennings, greatest of all time!

  • I've listened to him for 38 years and I love the old CW singers. They had the real life experience and if it meant drugs, booze, and lots of women; so be it.

  • Thet sure don t make them like Ol Hoss anymore. Todays Music is full of plastic.

  • @oscarmarsh

  • What a song.Sends shivers up my spine.They don't come like Waylon any more.Wow.

  • Waylon did a great cover of this wonderful song written by Don Williams. Just one of many top-ten hits Don wrote. He's semi-retired now (not touring anymore). Thanks for sharing Tuks!!! Mark

  • "Amanda" wasn't written by Don Williams,,,,,,,,,,,, it was written by Bob McDill.

  • You're right, thanks for correcting me. Mark

  • Has Bob McGill written anything else? This is a classic!

  • HE SURE HAS!!!! From "Catfish John" for Johnny Russell, to "Don't Close Your Eyes" for Keith Whitley, to "Everything That Glitters", "They Rage On", and "Big Wheels in The Moonlight" by Dan Seals, "Song Of The South" by Alabama, "Baby's Got Her Bluejeans On" by Mel McDaniel, to a bunch more Don Williams songs, like "I've been Loved By the Best" and "Good Ol' Boys Like Me", A cowrite on Alan Jackson's, "Gone Country". There are a lot more,,,,,,,,too numerous to mention here.

  • In fact over 30 songs penned by Bob went to #1! He's a fantastic songwriter.

  • Just a minor correction. Don Williams didn't write this song. It was written By Bob McDill and originally recorded by Don Williams. But Waylon did have the bigger hit with it. Went straight to #1!!

  • beautiful.thanks
