what would u recommend running the sensitivity at and the thresh hold pitch i am having problems with my etrac on finding anything with the sensitivity that high i get allot of falsing if u can help me out thanks.
@dugg1962 both great machines with phenomenal target separation abilities. For a quick hunt where most targets are not over 4" - 5" ( in my soil ) I will grab the Gold Scanner Pro, its just so fast at cherry picking this kind of area. If I go to an area with very deep targets 6" to say 10" deep I would chose the Etrac.
Well done. Im pretty new to this, thinking of buying my first metal detector actually. But I definitely want a E-Trac.. been interested in a while think its about time I just bite the bullet and get one.
yeah cause its like 500 dollar more look at all ur videos and prefer the e trac is depper im planinng on detecting in south texas there a lot of history here i live in sullivan tx in the last ferry beetween the US and mexico its been there since the the mexican american war , it was also use by pancho villa during the mexican revolution since i been on both sides theres alot of old ranches in mexico so i need a detector the goes depp i have the ace 250 found some silver pesos thats it .
I've owned Minelab's (Explorer xs). Garret's(GTI2500's) Fisher's (F75). And settled on a DFX. The V3 Spectra is the way to go from what it looks like to me. Do believe overall it will outdo the Etrac but I cannot of course really come to that conclusion till I have compared both. But to answer the question. Etrac is better than the GTI. My reasoning is mainly due to the explorer xs I had was allot better than my GTi and this was an old minelab. The Etrac would seem a better choice. .
On Mercury dimes the ID is usually 12/45 to 12/46. Silver Quarter and Halves are usually a bit higher CO #'s
Be careful with co-located targets ( target near trash your FE/CO #'s can come in significantly lower. Let your depth meter help you decide whether to dig or not.
One of my favorite videos on youtube. Do you still use that same discrimination pattern? Get many nails? And were you using manual or auto sensitivity? Hope you don't mind the questions. Thanks, Dan
Oops. You already mentioned you were in auto sensitivity. I'm amazed at the depth you got in auto!!! I would've thought one would have to be in manual to get that kind of depth. Amazing.
At the site in the video the auto-sensitivity +3 will only run on 18. I max the sensitivity on 30 some days only 27-28 depending on EMI. You can run high manual sensitivity you just have to go very slow and learn the difference between falses and real deep targets.
If you'll notice on both dimes I removed an 8"-9" plug and both dimes were still in the hole. Only after removing 2" - 3" more dirt from the bottom of the hole were the dimes recovered. Get an Etrac you'll see what I mean..... LOL
I've ran explorers for a long time, I've owned the ExpII and the SE Pro. In my opinion there is no comparison the Etrac is alot easier to run it separates the targets alot better in trashy areas and when it comes to picking through iron this machine rocks.

How is the E trac better than the explorer, aside from the USB hub? Im trying to justify an upgrade.. is it worth it?

Thanks, I would guess those coins were planted by fair goers 60-70 years ago LOL. Not in a club, I've not found any near me.

gibsondan I do run manual sensitivity usually. I like to leave the disc. as open as possible just enough to knock out small and medium size nails.
Thanks for you kind comment on the video.

john37115 2 years ago
im only slagging you because im jealous my self lol:)
Bloody fine machine that there etrac but i will need to do a lot more 'digging' before i can afford one mate!
There a bit heavy too for my liking, but my friend as been pulling hammies from 16" under the plowline here in the uk....WOW! amazing mate.
But horses for courses the GMP is bloody excellent on ploughed land whereas the etrac rules the pasture and the beach!
thanxx 2 years ago
His sensitivity was at 30 which is max for the etrac, in my area I can only get around 20..I would have never heard those coins..Try before you buy

Your saying 8 inches because your digging 10 and flipping it over. Doesn't mean the coin was 8"'s deep it could have been 2 inches deep.

John, excellent job! Great video. Does your E-trac identify "can slaw" so you don't waste time digging it?
gibsondan 3 years ago
I don't have a problem with the shallow aluminum but occasionally I will dig a larger piece when it's real deep.
john37115 3 years ago
Real nice video and finds. I'm thinking of getting an Etrac you may have just convinced me!
