Mechanical pencils are ideal, however, if you tend to draw outside of home (walking around the city, for instance).

I'm implying that a lot of the commenters have low standards. Not only that, but anime artists don't usually draw to do -art-. They draw to draw characters from an existing anime. Even professional creators of anime didn't aspire to do -art-. They aspired to do anime, and just that.

I was completely aware that a lot of the praisers for this video are not into real art, or more like, don't know what real art is. That is why I hope my comment was beneficial to at least a few people in that they will wake up from their torpors and break the limit they have set as artistic mastery, because they are limitting themselves too much. It is likely that a handful of the viewers are aspiring anime artists whose artistic goals are to be only equal to Naruto creator and other animes.

EAA's strength lies in drawing what is actually seen, not what is thought is seen. He has the artist's eye, and is astoundingly accurate, and for that I give him props. However, I cannot say much about his compositional creativities because I haven't seen anything he didn't heavily reference. I really wish he would draw original compositions.

not to sound rude or anything, but anime style isn't as easy as it looks. Although I wouldn't define it as good art (because most of the difficulty does lie in storytelling and composition) one can definetly see a difference between good v. bad anime (and people do critic you if it's not good), and good character design (It can be tough drawing the same person in any position).

Why did you look this up, then? Anime is a kind of art. And it's just as hard as any other art. In 'regular' art, the artist focuses on certain things. In anime the artist (Yes, I said artist.) focuses on different things.

Including:

Eyes

Hair (Yes, some anime artists put great detail into the hair they draw. More than in 'regular' drawing.)

Shading and making sure the shading is perfect.

Anime isn't something that should be learned as a style directly. You study the FUNDEMENTALS before you stylize, then stylizing should be a cinch.

I'm an art student, believe it or not, so I know about art. It's great how you missed the point entirely. I never even said anime wasn't a style. Style isn't something that should be studied. The fundamentals are. Good luck learning multiple point perspective from how to draw anime books. Anatomy books on how to draw anime/manga are laughable. Naruto is drawn. Drawings take techinical skill, no matter what you're doing. Lostdenizen is right; Naruto is taken VERY seriously by the people who have to draw it. Every drawing has to be as close to technically perfect as can be done under their deadline (or you know, they'll get replaced). And sure. This is one way to draw Temari's face, but if you've mastered the basics, like Lost is talking about, and know what her character looks like, you can draw Temari in any pose doing anything.

However if they are considering a career, I would strongly suggest that you do not start with any style as lostdenizen said. But instead study the fundamentals, such as anatomy, composition, perspective and shading.
