  • I know this Jig is Irish but it sound vaguely Middle eastern

  • I Have I HORA 'Zouk It says made in romania? If U guys know any thing about them Please respond 'cause i know nothing about it

  • Really love this, I'm looking to learn how to play the bouzouki, any recommendations on what make I should buy to begin with? I have never picked any instrument up before but I just love the sound of the bouzouki. Trying to find someone in Cork to give me lessons is proving to be a non runner so I'll have to try and pick it up myself. Is GDAD the best tuning to start with? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • @damieno1773 i found GDAE was a good tuning to start with, though that might just be because i started on mandolin then went over to bouzouki. as for learning chords i pretty much figured them out myself so i can't really teach anyone else. i quite like GDAE as a tuning because i've found i can do a lot with it, though i do occasionally drop to GDAD. they both have different sounds though.

  • sounds deadly on the bouzouki my man!

  • this is awesome what not do u start the melody on?

  • @piperscott081295

cheers for that. It starts on a 'b'. you should be able to find the score on a trad website.. Good luck

  • love drone effect you have there with the strumming :)

You seem to play with feeling . So inspirational ! Yes, You DO rock !!!!!!

  • @lpbgtr

Is there any chance you could upload a demo on how to play planxty's pat reilly ? would be great .Thanks for inspiration KEEP GOING greetings uppie Sneek Holland

  • Beautiful man! Thank you! There is a guy in Cornwall called Williams who has designed a hybrid Guitar/Zouk called a Gazuki...do you have any verdict or feedback..and what tuning are you using here? Aain...many thanks!

  • great cheers. I use GDAD.

I know that Dermot McILROY makes a hybrid as well. He worked for Lowden guitars for many years, makes beautiful instruments. I've never played the hybrids at all. i've enough problems coping with the zouk and guitar individually.. :)

  • is this unison strung or octave strung?

    Sounds really really great.

    thanks a million.

  • its octave ! much more melodic I find

    thanks for listening

  • Magical.

  • Top shots Micky- very well done Sir. I play the Monaghan on guitar too. Will try on my GDAD bouzouki.

  • Do you know what gauge strings you were using at this time?

  • Very nice!! Just bought one of these and I love the sound, it sounds like more than one instrument playing!

    Great job man

  • thx MIKE

this fylde is amazing.. I luv it. I've a few more tunes to put up but aint got round to doing it yet.. need to make sure i dont fluff too many notes.

  • good on u who ever u are !

  • awesome, awesome!

  • appreciate your comments.

    cheers

  • Hi Micky,

That was very inspiring for me. I've just ordered an Irish bouzouki but here in Italy they're not too easy to find. I'd be very interested to hear any tips you may have about playing. Thanks for sharing.

  • really appreciate your comment.

GDAD tuning I have found is great for playing the tunes and also chord playing. It allows you to drone notes while playing the tunes. Sounds like 2 instruments are playing at times.

    micky

  • Thanks alot . I must try and learn it, lovely sound.

  • Sound really nice, What tuning is that, gdad i guess

  • yes. your right GDAD. Very easy to play but sounds great !!

  • That's brilliant. Go on.

  • yyaaahoo! very nice, mate! your zouk is so deep) yeah you are right - it is much easier then the guitar) i'm from Russia, but I like your irish stuff very much. I playing on mandolin, but in our country it is impossible to bye irish bouzouki ((( so may be I should try it via ebay. may be you know, how can I get this brilliant instrument?

Monaghan - one of my favorite irish standart. your variant is very cool) thanx

  • hey man! That sounds AMAZING! You should post some videos playing the guitar :D

By the way, is that a Tobin zouk? I don't like'em very much, but yours sound reeeaaally great :D

  • glad you like it

Its a Fylde Longscale Touchstone. I had it made by Fylde. I had to wait about 6 months for it but it was worth it. I've only been playing Boouz for about a year but its so much easier than the guitar, very modal. This Fylde has such a deep sound , great to play.

  • good one sparky lol!

  • Very nice, great instrument too...

  • well done dad great 1st video!!
