  • If you think this is country music...well you don't know...this is just MUSIC. Listen to it...the greatest song writer we'll ever see.

  • shhhhhhhhhhhhhh the master is at work

  • One of the finest Live albums ever....

  • Of all my songs and memories of seeing Townes, I keep going back to "Live at the Old Quarter" when I want to remember him at his best. Itt came out just before the first time I saw him live. A beautiful and haunting version of this song, which is the poet at his most endearing.

  • Just one gem from the entire "Live at the Old Quarter" record - maybe the finest live show ever captured on tape. TVZ was at his peak. I think 1973?

  • Beautiful, Sad. Frightening. Truthful

  • This is the most beautiful piece. I wana say not just for ever for the time, but that it will be, 4ever

  • Can someone explain in musical terms the relation of the chorus to the verse? Is he singing the root at the end of the chorus ("Someday")?

  • I feel lucky to be one of the 40,000 + to view this video.

  • Very similar melody to Vincent and or Empty Chairs by Don McLean

  • One of the few who truly marched to his own drum. He could've lived a cuddly little life but instead he left all of that to write the world's greatest songs.

  • He reminds me of Nick Drake for some reason.

  • @Devaprakash777 the irony and daring wordplay inspired by severe depression? They both remind me of Richard Brautigan.

  • townes van Zandt is de beste singer-songwriter die ik ooit heb gehoord, deze man wordt zwaar miskend.... prachtige plaat!

  • i actually listen to mostly hiphop..jazz..funk and older punk music..but i'm hooked on Townes. his words are so beautifully poetic

  • Texas music all the way!!!

  • Of faith and love and destiny.

Here's to us meeting some day.

  • Zeitgeist and genius of the human soul.

  • Townes was a beautiful conflicted soul....they don't make them like this anymore....his words transcend time and place...they are in each of us, if we only choose to look.

  • I would like to dedicate this one to my friends- "godlessweasel" and "2pWorth".

  • Yall gotta see the flim about him "be here to love me" EXTRAORDINARY google it and play it online for free, at great quality.

  • Aint nothing compared to country music now, that song about fried chick and the other on eabout chicken nuggets and shit. Na, I'm just kiddin, that music fuckin sucks, god bless texas music!!!!

  • @bushuraloser A song doesnt have to have the word Texas in it to be from Texas. I'm sure youre aware of the fact that Townes Van Zandts' music is of Texas from a son of Texas. Why be so thin skinned. If you dont like Texas I guess that might be the reason

  • @TalamoxSmith And why are you taking issue, showing that you are thinned skinned too. Ohhh my did someone tread on your dear lil texas
