  • Lovely pipe, Tim!

  • Hey maybe I could throw a little coffee in my pipe with my tobacco. That should get me going!! I am very interested in trying this flake. It sounds about my style. I have been looking for an aromatic that still tastes like tobacco. Will look it up. Thanks for the video.

    Best Wishes,

    Shaggy

  • Tim, love that pipe! Also, like the way you found a good jar for the tobacco. I do the same thing when I can. Why spend when you don't have to...... I live in the Chicago, Illinois area of the USA. We get PLENTY of snow here every year. Sometimes, we get so much that it becomes a bore and a chore!

    Best Wishes,

    Guillermo

  • 1. I love than long, slim stem. Very elegant pipe you're smoking.

    2. I take it that you are referring to those long German regimental pipes with cherrywood stems and porcelain bowls. I have one (it was a gift) and the bowl can get AWFULLY HOT—like a teapot! I assume the long stem is meant to cool the smoke down.

Liebaert & Maya have some marvelous illustrations of such pipes in their book, The Illustrated History of the Pipe.

  • Hello Tim, another smashing video. Tomato juice, ketchup has the ability to adsorb any strong smelling compound. I have been told that when a dog has been sprayed by a skunk (sulphur mercaptans) that the odor can be removed with a tomato bath. all the best, chris

  • Conrad, Thank you my friend. Tim

  • Tim...great video as always my boy! :) It rained here finally and the snow melted (thank god) lol...I really love that pipe btw...love the chimney shape and the grain at the top...i hope nico's head feels better...:) cheers

  • Hello Travis,

Thank you mate. The pipe is my pride and joy. I'm glad you like it. When a first had Nico he run into the corner of my fish tank. He just shook his head and off he went again. Later he ate two of the fish when i was cleaning tank!!! Take care of yourself.

    Cheers, Tim

  • Ahmad,

I always look forward to reading your remarks and I thank you for your kind words. The pipe was a gift from a very good friend and a real treasure to me. The jar has worked out well.

    Cheers mate,

    Tim

  • Hello Tim,

it seems as if this tobacco might be the right one for me. :-)

By the way: I totally agree to Sven concerning your channel's background. Your pipe is a beauty!

    Cheers mate

    Lars

  • Hello Lars,

That's really kind of you mate. The pipe was a birthday present and I really love it. The craftsmanship is exceptional. Though the 'Highland Sliced' is a strong tobacco it really is a smooth smoke. If you do try some please do tell me what you think.

    Cheers, Tim

  • Hi Tim,

I thinnk that it will take a while until I get my first "Highland Sliced". Yesterday I talked to my uncle (he lives in Canton/Georgia) who is going to come and see me on thursday (02/12/2009). He told me that he got a can of "Captain Black" tobacco (US-Mixture) for me. I just had a look for this can and found out that it is a 12 oz can! That's a lot of pretty good tobacco...! :-))

But I will put your video to my favorites. So, I won't forget your recommendation.

    Cheers mate,

    Lars

  • Hi Tim,

There is enough Revor at our local Co-op to sink a battleship. I know that doesn't help you, but maybe your local Co-op might have some until your tobacconist gets some fresh stuff in.

    Cheers,

    Danny.

  • Alright Danny,

I'm lucky to get a pack of Clan from the local shops around here mate. Clive has the Revor market tied up.. Hope you are well..

    Cheers, Tim

  • Talking of things Highland, have you tried McChrystals Highland Ice snuff? I've wondered what that was like for some time now.

  • Not as yet mate. I'll see if i can get some.

  • McChrystals is excellently bracing IF you care for highly mentholated snuff.

  • Hi Tim, Very good review - The jar is a dandy and I need some of them myself. Your pipe is absolutly beautiful that is the shape I admire also love the style and stem shape. I will be looking for Highlands Sliced flake and I also enjoy the bold smokes. Stay warm and thanks for your support. Your Friend, Sky

  • Hello Sky,

Thanks mate. I'm really pleased with the pipe, it's great for flakes. The HS is strong I think you would like it. If you can get it try Revor plug. It is strong but with that lovely lakeland flavour.

    Cheers, Tim

  • Full bodied Virginia and darf fired Kentucky tobacco, heat pressed to perfection in the traditional style.

Cool and slow burning for the experienced pipe smoker.

With a slightly smokey, spicey and nutty aroma

Ah, for the experienced pipe smoker, means it's on the strong side i guess.

  • Hello Jo,

It sounds like you know more than i do ;).. Hope life is treating you well mate.

    Cheers, Tim

  • I just had a look at an online shop, but it sounds intresting

  • Hello there Tim,

    Thanks for the review.

Great to hear you also like the german expresionist cinema.

And may I say that's a dream of a pipe you got there.

    All the best,

    Tom

  • Hello Tom,

Yes that era of cinema provided us with some of the greatest films ever made.. Thanks for the kind remarks.

    Cheers, Tim

  • Hallo Tim

Excellent review! Always remember: The snow is the Breadman's curse :)

Did i see "Zeitgeist" printed on your shirt?

    Alles Gute

    Sven

PS Your channel background is great. A perfectly sandblasted pipe. Beautiful!

  • Hallo Sven,

'Zeitgeist' is a bar in the US, a friend got it for me. I'm glad you like the background it a pic of the pipe i'm smoking in the vid.

    Cheers mate, Tim
