  • Wow! That's a large band. What division are you?

  • @drummerguy1231 In Ohio, the division is AA -- I'm not sure how that translates to divisions in other states. But it's the division for the largest schools.

  • @OhioBandDad Here in California we have a number and A. Carlsbad Marching Lancers is a 4A band.

  • @drummerguy1231 Classes in Ohio are:

AA 901 or more students in grades 10–12

    A 501 to 900 students in grades 10–12

    B 301 to 500 students in grades 10–12

C 300 or fewer students in grades 10–12

A band may enter a higher classification than specified by enrollment, but not a lower.

  • @OhioBandDad in new york national class is the best, but we played a show in ohio and i think we competed as AA

  • I saw this show when I was a senior at Dublin Coffman. I must say, this show was one of my favorites of that year. I got to see it twice (yay me!). I love these songs as well (maybe that's why I like this show). I wish you guys the best of luck!

  • This is one of Gary Gilroys most challenging songs in my opinion...Soo difficult that only the most polished bands would be able to play it...I believe that this band butchered this song, I mean they couldn't even play the loud parts well or LOUD...Tempos were too slow also...Good try guys, but next time pick a song everyone can play sounding good...

  • @evetsp10 Gilroy actually wrote this arrangement for this band and in collaboration with the director. I suspect the interpretation and dynamics are exactly what he had in mind. ;)

  • @OhioBandDad This song is incredibly difficult, and I thought it was played very well.

  • @evetsp10 i dont even know what video you must be watching...but it's certainly not this one

  • @evetsp10 i was a sousaphone player in this band and am now majoring in tuba at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and this interpretation is meant to be this way. Of my three years there this was one of our greatest songs. The recording equipment is not as great as it could be. It was very loud in person believe me. it was not our greatest performance, but the video does not do justice. We played more than loud enough at parts , so much that we were told to back down.

  • West always does alot more body visuals then East does.

  • I'm from Hilliard Davidson's guard, We are facing you guys this weekend. If you see this black guy, say hi! Cause thats me! I'm excited! :D

  • You guys at Hilliard Davidson have a great band. Here's wishing you good luck this weekend...... but not TOO much good luck! ;)

  • medina annoys me... im from north royalton. lol... before about 4 years ago we would beat medina in everything, and now they are beating us... :P

lakota west is pretty effing amazing tho

  • What a huge marching band!!!!!!! holy crap!

  • yea Lakota is so huge it has two marching bands that size, one from Lakota West and one from Lakota East.

  • Around 260 kids this year.

  • if this is gary p gilroys which it probably is that is amazing one of his hardest songs i thing whoever plays that this year well will own anybody haha

  • Yep, this is arranged by Gary Gilroy. Thanks for reminding me to give him credit in the video description. He also arranged Lakota West's 2009 show "Pictures" It's a REAL killer in terms of difficulty!

  • yea my band is doing the knight this year last year we did the machines

  • Medina is doing The Knight. At Lexington last Saturday they got a 260, and every trophy except guard, including grand champion. I'm seeing them play at their homecoming game on the 9th.

  • wow, Perkins isn't far off the mark from a lot of bands. We scored a 250 at our first comp., and our directors said that our home show would have been around 260 if we hadn't in exhibition class (only ratings, no points). good luck to you guys though.

  • o wait you're from medina. haha. my bad.

  • love lakota

  • By far the best marching band that I have ever had the pleasure of watching, and listening to. Great performance!!!!

P.S. I also LOVE your rendition of, "Skysplitter."

  • Thank you very much for the great comment!

  • We did way better than last year. lol.

  • YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! Im in the lexington band of gold, we hosted the festival of champions. great sound, music, and show!! cant wait too see ya all at the festival next year. BAND GEEKS UNITE!!!! PRIDE!!

  • lol dude I'm in the Lakota West Band and we totally stucked at the lexington tournament of champions. That was our worst performance. Our band totally tore apart during the performance. We were all amazed we got grand champions. lol

  • It was sooo cold. by the end my fingers were stiff.

But besides the fact that we were all painfully flat, I think the marching was pretty good.

    Nice final show.♥♥♥

  • cough cough east rules cough cough

  • y were there so many people on the front side line?

  • They were all playing large chimes during the finale.

  • they're our band aides.

  • wow we were good..

  • hey bandos! im from the sandusky perkins marching band, so im a fellow bando. hah. This performance is reallly good, nice job. I also agree, with the "stupid wauseon" comment. hah

  • I'm with the Louisville High School band and we saw your show at the Lexington competition, I like it at the end when you play both at the same time! It sounds so epic!

  • yea our music wasnt as good as it normally would be. everyone was 20 cents flat cause the tubas couldnt push in anymore :P so we all had to tune to where they were at. u can sorta tell haha. but i thought we looked rly clean

  • watching their show made me sad cause they're so much better than us...and because we were the only band that got a II during those awards...stupid wauseon and their western themed show...

  • so i have a question, dont you guys have to pick up all the streamers???

  • YUP!

  • 35 degrees? Yikes, thats even worse than last year! Great job though you guys, I'm diggin this years drill for real.

  • great marching...as usual.. playing weaker than i remembered so i shall blame the cold
