  • Is it bad that I prefer Alan to Steve...haha

  • Oh, for fuck-sake.... Please don't re-make Alen Partridge for the yanks. It'll be terrible, just like every other dumbed down version of British shows

  • (continued)

With that said, don't translate him to the States, leave him in the UK where his comedy doesn't need to be dumbed down/altered. He's a natural at what he does and how he does it, don't try to force a square peg into a round hole. He's under utilized in the States because American audiences will not understand his basic shtick because it's honestly too clever for what people here are conditioned to look for in comedy, that's why the UK's office dumps on our version.

  • I'm from the States and I love Coogan and I love Partridge, I got turned onto him after seeing a review for The Trip w/ Rob Brydon and I've been off and running ever since, I have both series of I'm Alan Partridge on DVD and KMKY with Alan Partridge also, through that is where I've found other great TV from the UK like Brass Eye, FNw/ Jonathan Ross, The Graham Norton Show, and panel shows like Mock the Week that we don't have at all over here (continued...)

  • They shouldn't "transfer" British comedy shows to appeal to an American audience, no matter how British the show is. I'm not a Brit -but also not an American- and I love British shows just the way they are, because those characters, actors, stories, jokes, etc. are exactly what make shows such as Steptoe & Son, The Goodies, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, The Young Ones, Only Fools And Horses, etc. so great.

  • JR is being a bit of a tit Coogan is great!

  • You can sort of tell how much they dislike one another.

  • @pancakeday2006 Yeah - most of the comedians that JR interviews seem to dislike him.

  • @QRF11B it's "couldn't care less". regardless, i think you know what i'm saying is correct. to search a clip with the intention of making a negative comment, rather than to watch it tells me all i need to know.

  • @QRF11B im watching this out of genuine interest. you came here to make a negative comment. think for a second about how you've exposed your character...

  • @QRF11B it takes an odd kind of person to search for a clip they already know they wont like.

  • @QRF11B how depressingly predictable... go back to big boys cars and explosions.

  • @QRF11B you went to the trouble of searching out a coogan clip just to leave that comment? do you think coogan will actually see it, or are you trying to provoke a response? pretty pathetic either way.

  • The only thing I don't like about Coogan is that he always seems to be acting.

  • Steve Coogan IS Alan Partridge. David Brent is much more of an archetype, which is why he was able to translate into Michael Scott. You could never ever ever do the same with Partridge, or any of his other characters for that matter.

  • @TulseLuper Yeah but while steve carrell is really funny, apart from slightly similar dialogue michael scott is nothing like david brent

  • 7:44 what a cheeky smile!

  • please coogan dont do a partridge film do another series PLEASE!! tv shows made into films always turn into the inside of a vagina do another series partridge on tv keeps alans majic

  • If you haven´t seen him live in a solo show you haven´t seen half his talent. He holds an audience spellbound for over two hours. Awesome.

  • at 7:46 i luv his smile

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT SELL ALAN PARTRIDGE TO THE YANKS MR COOGAN.....ITS TO BRITISH

  • @avbilly Yeah but they said that about 'The Office', and...Oh yeah, fair point!

  • Steve Coogan doing Frank Spencer - it can't get any better than that. Best interview in years on Ross, I guess.

  • I saw his tour in Sydney... There was no Tommy Saxondale though!!!

  • Coogan is outstandingly gifted, his gallery of grotesque characters will I'm sure become a part of comedic history. I dont usually like foul language but in the case of Paul and Pauline Calf I make an exception because of Coogans brilliant and hilarious observations.

  • @egogogo Why can't you stand him? If what you're saying is true and he's a tosser and an ignorant twat (which he isn't!), you'd have lots in common!

  • look at how saxondale is different from partridge, amazing range.

  • American Partridge = Crub (Larry David)

  • only worse

  • Suspicious superstition hahahaha!

  • Just love al things Steve Coogan!!!

  • post a text comment. do you think they practice the conversation or the main points of the conversation and have a little whisper to each other to the kinds of jokes they will tell. So then they can practice clever little rebuffs and jibes a few times and look like comic frickin geniuses. Does anyone out there think this does anyone? or am I just cynical and stoned.

  • of course they do that

  • It may be true the Office is a success in the states, and I'm not criticising it, yet it's not the same show AT all...it's impossible to make the comedy the same, some Americans just don't get it.

  • I love Coogan he is a monolith to British and World comedy. Hes like the Jaguar E-Type of the world, fantastic in the 60's (UK 90's) but really only just being discovered in 2010 (Partrige film green lt by Universal 2 months ago) as a world classic. 200 years ago our country would have erected a Coogans column in the middle of Manchester, better still on top of Nelson's. Sorry for the car youthenism but he is a petrol heat too. All the best in the future Steve "Saxondale the best" Coogan,

  • He's the Japanese Mercedes

  • He's a Lexus (Lexi, plural)

  • @InkyEnston

    lol are you alan partridge?

  • @RPFS2008 I wish I was....lol

  • @InkyEnston I'm sure you wouldn't I hear it's a bloody nightmare.

  • I really liked that little heist comedy he made The Parole Officer. It was fairly 'British' but a bit harsh not even giving it some kind of limited release in the States.

  • Alan comes out at 3:12

    love it!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i love him so much!!!

  • steve coogans a geniuis

  • hope he dont do a partride film i dont think it will work too well but really hope he does another series on tv

  • what- like 'Sunshine'?

  • ? ..

  • sunshine the drama, steve coogan is the main guy in it >.>

  • @deathmetalcorpse theyre adapting partridge to america, like the office but thhey want ed helms to play alan

  • aww i would have bought one of his tickets : [

if i knew he was on at the time lol

    :]

  • Oh Steve Coogan is adorable here, I just love him. Come back to New Zealand Steve!

  • Is it just me, or did Coogan's impression of Ross seem to be half Ross and half Michael Caine?

    Awesome.

  • sounded more like david bellamy

  • @SSJ2Killua He sounded like Terry Tibbs

  • the tour was awesome, saw him last friday in adelaide.

  • I'd be interested to know what Ferrino moterial he performed? Was this new material or the stuff from the previous tour? (He didn't perform Ferrino material in the UK). Thanks

  • He performed Ferrino in New Zealand, The show was great. He's a bit of a C**T though.

  • In response to THE TOE1980: mate, we saw Coogan in Sydney last week, & yeah, I agree he was good but the show was a very watered down version for Australian audiences. There was no Duncan Thickett, no Saxondale, & no Partridge doing Sir Thomas Moore. That was disappointing. But he did do Tony Ferrino.

  • i went to the tour, it was soo funny

  • haha the bit about going to america and ordering a glass of water is so true.

  • I love steve coogan - damm hot aswell

  • Hell yeah!

  • I'm in Canada and I'm just lucky to have Brits married into the fam. I looooove Alan Partridge.. in fact I'm addicted like hard smack! Back of the net!

  • like he grabs the camera buy my ticket,

    smell my cheese

  • he doesn't have class - that's very obvious. but he's got the right amount of non-starryness that's needed for an interviewer, as opposed to an interviewee. hehe, i just wrote wee. he's not unfunny, so his lack of sophistication is just about tolerable. i know my comment is gonna get thumbed down - bring it on.

  • yep any constructive criticism is not tolerated on You Tube lol.

  • lol!

  • ross' job isnt to be funny it's to feed the interviewee lines to get their product across and make them seem funny.

at least that's the way i see it

  • is it me or did ross ask so many questions all at once that we got no specific answers about the partridge film etc. god ross! - annoying, though funny, man!

  • "Can you do a manc accent?"

I sometimes wonder if 'wossy' is even aware of who any of his guest even are.

  • ??????????

  • The water comment is so true!

  • saw the first night of the tour last night in stoke, was amazing.

    well done steve *****

  • did he "bounce back" =]

  • Taht guy reminds me of Alan Partridge, are they related does anyone know?

  • ... what a tit

  • i wouldnt call Alan Partridge a tit he´s just not the brightest. He maens no harm and his chat shows are very entertaining.

  • I think your joking. but im not quite sure.

  • alan Partridge isnt real! he is a character created by steve coogan

  • i know i made those comments for a laugh! it´s a pitty that because so many idiots post comments on here that my silly remarks fitted in and appeared to be sincere

  • sorry for the missunderstanding! some people genuinely think Alan Partridge is real ! and therefore not much good! I think Steve Coogan is great

  • steve coogan IS alan partridge. duh?! haha

  • "yesterday, today was tomorrow, but tomorrow, today will be yesterday"

  • im going to see his tour

  • Yeh cheers, Coogan is a legend - bring on the tour!

  • "I know the face..."

  • i didnt get an invite to his 30th. Bastard.
