Does anyone know where I can get the the sheet music for this song? My daughter is an avid Shirley Temple Fan and wants to perform this piece for her Musical Theater routine. My daughter sings with live voice so mouthing the words is not an optiona s well as she has a live piano accompaniment . I have looked EVERYWHERE with no luck:) Any help is greatly appreciated!
This was my favorite song as a little girl...I use to watch Shirley Temple movies every Sunday morning...in the 1950s. What a wonderfully talented child and woman. Thanks for sharing this...I'm going for a walk in the rain :)
Shirley was probably the most talented child star of all time and she literally saved the studio from going broke. I loved her as a kid and still do. The songs she sang were always so catchy and you always walked away feeling good. She just couldn't have been any cuter and also grew up to be quited beautiful. Her movies were all very entertaining and really great compared to so much trash there is now.
btw-- i used to work for someone who was into harleys -leather vests -chained wallets,, hells angels etc---- hell of a nice guy!!-- He used to chime in on this song --That is how powerfully entertaining Miss Temple's movies were!! thanks
Shirley Temple is treated like a joke, a child movie star of a long gone era, but she had the best writers, best costumers and the best music and staging of her era. We're just beginning to get musicals you can walk out of the theater whistling from, and it's been almost a half century wait! And it's supposed to rain in San Francisco tomorrow! Yea, I've been waiting!
On stage, in a school auditorium, with millions of gallons of water and a moving walkway….. I know all of our elementary school musicals looked just like that one....not! But it's wonderful. I just love the fantasy film musicals of the 1930's, the best Hollywood ever made. Maybe with one exception: Singin' in the Rain.
I just love how this small auditorium has both a sliding scene mechanism AND a lift! Radio City would be proud! I love this song and often played it as a "console riser" on the theatre organ. I used it as the opening number at the dedication concert for the ex-New York Roxy theatre organ installed at the Classic Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico in July, 1983 - it was great!
@grdnzrnic there could have just been a key change...when I was singing Hallelujah in choir the key changed five or so times every verse...I dunno though...I think it still works only people with a keen musical ear would catch it..good job ^.^
@sarahluvsshirley Oh, that pouty, all too cute act used to bug me. Now that the best they have to offer is Britney and Miley Cyrus I make sure my kids watch things like this.
Great song.

And they were always catchy tunes too. She's the only one who could keep step with Bojangles Robinson. I hope somebody somewhere saves these tapes.
