  • Death 1 and 2

  • Like for the Hercules refrence ;)

  • I'm a little scared to go to Disney now. D:

  • Death 1: On christmas eve 1998, a 33 year old was killed when when a piece of metal securing a ship docked on the Rivers of America tore loose and sailed through the air, striking him in the head. He died two days later in the hospital.

Death 2: September 5th, 2003 a 22 year old was killed when a car separated from its train on the Big Thunder Moutain Railroad. He suffered blunt force trauma to the chest and bled to death.

  • The only one I really sympathize for is the little kid that didn't die. It must've been very tragic for him. The older brother was stupid though. Really, what can you do when the park is closed? Pretty sure the rides and shops would be closed. Though I do think it would be pretty cool to have the hole place to yourself. I wouldn't do anything illegal for it though. The monorail one was stupid but not as stupid as unbuckling your seatbelt and standing up on a rollercoaster.

  • Your eyeshadow is so pretty! And this cheered me up no end!

  • how horrible for that little boy. The others were really just... well in a way I guess pathetic, why would you take your seatbelt off?? WHY?? I am scared enough with one on that I am about to fly off the god damn thing.

  • Death 1: September 5, 2003, Marcello Torres died after the passenger car on Big Thunder Mountain derailed, he died from severe blood loss and the death was attributed to faulty maintenance.

Death 2: December 24, 1998, Luan Dawson was killed by a piece of metal that tore away from a dock as a Tall Ship was being tied to it. He died two days later from a brain hemorrhage.

    Death 3: August 21, 1942, Bambi's mother was killed by a hunter. I will never ever forgive Disney for that. ( ; _ ; )

  • My GF rode on Big Thunder just 20 minutes before it derailed that day and refuses to ride it again.

Then the flying hunk of metal caused by the Columbia.

  • September 5, 2003 - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

    December 24, 1998 - Sailing Ship Columbia

You're Awesome and love your Disney facts

  • Death 1: September 5, 2003: A 22 year old was killed in a derailment of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster that was caused by improper maintenance.

Death 2: December 24, 1998: A 33 year old died of a head injury when a metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose due to the normal tie line, an inelastic hemp rope designed to break easily was improperly replaced by an elastic nylon rope which stretched and tore the cleat from the ship's wooden hull.

  • Jeez alittle grim, can u say final destination much? el mickey muerte

a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose, striking one employee and two park guests. One of the guests died of a head injury. The normal tie line, an inelastic hemp rope designed to break easily, was improperly replaced for for a nylon one.

  • I don't have an answer to the question but I wanted to say I appreciated the recap of Darwinism at Disneyland and I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day. =)

  • Sept. 5, 2003: Marcelo Torres, 22, was killed while riding the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Ten other people were injured. The accident was caused when the locomotive derailed and disconnected from the rest of the train, which contains the passenger cars. Mr. Torres was hit in the chest with a blunt object that fractured his ribs, leading to the laceration of his lungs which caused "severe blood loss," according to an Orange County coroner's statement. He died at the scene.

  • Best. Valentine's. Day. Ever.

  • the last 13 seconds are the best! And the deaths are really interesting. It has further proved my point that I fear for future Americans.

  • I'm loving the feather extentions, thinking of getting them myself, but can't decide what colors

  • happy v day sarah

  • Death 1: Dec 24 1998- A rope that was supposed to be securing the sailing ship "Columbia" while it was docking, tore the metal cleat that it was attached to and struck the heads of Luan Phi Dawson and his wife. He died.

Death 2: Sept 5 2003- In the tunnel section of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a locomotive separated from the train and Marcelo Torres died.

Also, I'm sarah's valentine. What now bitches.

  • wonderful.

  • i just wanted to say thank you for saying that these people were idiots and such, hah. i run a rollercoaster and the stupid things that people do and the rules they ignore blow my mind daily. it's like they don't realize that these things are potentially dangerous and the rules are there to keep it from being as such. xD

  • Marcelo Torres on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

And I went from being single on Valentines day to having you and Luke!! Thanks guys. Haha ;)

  • 1) The day was 12/24/98, a cleat (a word I just learned!) tore off the hull of the Columbia, injuring an employee and two guess. One guest died from his head injury. The rope was a cheaper version of what it was supposed to have been, which is interesting.

    2) Relatively shortly after, on 9/5/03, the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad derailed, killing Marcello Torres. Caused by omissions in safety inspections, the locamotive flew in the air, hit the ceiling of the tunnel, and crushed the victim. Ouch

  • @sarahsoliloquy Comment Part 2. Thanks for making this video, because now that I've looked it up, there were several other deaths which were pretty interesting to read about. Like the 4 year old boy one in 2000, the lady I think from Spain in 2000 too, and then the space mountain lady from 79. All really interesting cases. I also think some of the charges against the characters for assault are humorous a bit.

I really wanted you to say that "Cleveland was cleaved" by the monorail. lol

  • December 24, 1998: Luan Phi Dawson was struck by a metal cleat from a docking ship on the Rivers of America. He was declared brain dead two days later and his life support was shut off. September 5, 2003: Marcelo Torres died when the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad locomotive separated from the rest of the train. He suffered blunt force trauma to the chest and bled to death.

  • On December 24, 1998, a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose, striking one employee and two park guests. One of the guests, a 33-year-old man from Duvall, Washington, died of a head injury. The normal tie line, an inelastic hemp rope designed to break easily, was improperly replaced for financial reasons by an elastic nylon rope which stretched and tore the cleat from the ship's wooden hull.

  • On December 24, 1998, a piece of metal tore away from a dock as a Tall Ship was being tied to it, hitting visitors Luan Dawson and his wife Lieu Vuong. Luan died two days later in the hospital of a brain hemorrhage and skull fracture. His wife was in critical condition with facial disfigurements. Witnesses said the ship was going too fast and pulled the metal out of the dock as it was being tied, ricocheting it around and hitting the people. :(

  • "You guys can all be my valentines too..." I love how sarcastic you look hahah.

  • On December 24, 1998, a piece of metal tore away from a dock as a Tall Ship was being tied to it, hitting visitors Luan Dawson and his wife Lieu Vuong. Luan died two days later in the hospital of a brain hemorrhage and skull fracture.

  • On July 8, 1974, 18 year old Deborah Gail Stone was working at her job greeting each new audience as they came into America Sings and settled into their seats. She would stand on the stage, and the outer ring would rotate and take the audience to the first scene of the carousel. Stone got too close to the area between the rotating and nonmoving walls and was crushed to death between them. Ride operators were notified only when a visitor who was in the next theater heard her screaming..

  • On Aug. 31, 1994, Disney security guards spotted two teens goofing around on a walkway of the Contemporary Resort. When spotted, they ran and were seen leaving in a pick up. A Disney guard pursued the truck at speeds of up to 80 mph even though they LEFT the park and were outside of Disney property and jurisdiction. The truck crashed, killing 18 year old Robb Sipkema.

  • You and Alex are freaking adorable. <3

  • On July 8, 1974, employee Deborah Gail Stone, 18, of Santa Ana, California was crushed to death between a revolving wall and a stationary platform inside the America Sings attraction...one more..

  • On September 5, 2003, 22-year-old Marcelo Torres of nearby Gardena, California died after suffering severe blunt force trauma and extensive internal bleeding in a derailment of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster that also injured 11 other riders. On December 24, 1998, a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose. One of the guests, Luan Phi Dawson 33 died of a head injury.

  • August 1967, Ricky Lee Yama, a 17-year old, was killed when he ignored safety instructions and exited his People Movers car as the ride was passing through a tunnel. Yama slipped as he was jumping from car to car and was crushed to death benaeth the wheels of oncoming cars. Lovely, huh?

  • Oh Sarah, you would make a morbid death video on Valentine's Day! You're amazing!!

  • I heard once at Disney that during the parade the guy in the Pluto suit somehow got sucked up into the float's motor and was killed? Something like that. My aunt was saying it once at Disney World, and I was scarred for life. DX

  • In 2003 The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad derailed due to improper maintenance, injuring 10 and killing 1.

  • On September 22, 2000, a 4-year-old boy fell out of the ride vehicle and was dragged underneath the car, causing serious internal injuries, a heart attack and brain damage. An investigation ending in December 2000 concluded that a lap bar had malfunctioned and the victim was placed in the wrong seat in the ride vehicle, too close to the opening. The victim never fully recovered from his injuries and died in January 2009. I wikied this, and thus should not win. :(

  • In 2003, a cart separated from the rest of the train on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Marcelo Torres died. In 1998, a rope securing the ship Columbia tore a metal cleat loose from the dock, and struck two guests in the head, killing one.

  • These people should win Darwin Awards

  • A 33 year old man from Duvall, Washington was the first disneyland guest death that was not the fault of Disneyland when there was a mafunctionon the Sailing Ship Colmbia because of inadequate training. He died of a head injury :(

  • on dec 24, 1998, One Disneyland guest was killed because a rope that used to secure the sailing ship Columbia (which was docked on the River of America) tore loose the metal cleat which was attached to it. The cleat sailed throught the air and struck two guests on the head who were waiting to board the ship. One of the guests, Luan Phi Dawson was declared brain dead after 2 days and died when his life support system was disconnected.

2003- 22 yr. old Marcelo Torres died and several others injured when a car on the locamotive got seperated from the rest of the train. on the Big Thunder Mtn. Railroad. He died of blunt force trauma to the chest.

  • i love hercules :)

  • Death by stupidity...evolution in action. Kiss your sweetheart for me ; )

Disneyland has fessed up that its maintenance personnel failed todo its job on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, leading to the crash which killed 22-year-old

The Sept. 5 crash on the Frontierland coaster happened after an upstop, or guide, wheel fell off the coaster. That wheel travels underneath the coaster's steel track rail, preventing the coaster car from lifting off the track. Without the wheel, the coaster partially derailed.

  • People DIED at DISNEYLAND!!!!! but I thought it was a place of magic and happiness?

  • pretty eyeshadow <3

  • Marcelo Torres, age 22, was killed on Sept. 5, 2003 while riding the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Ten other people were injured. The accident was caused when the locomotive derailed and disconnected from the rest of the train.

2003 - Marcello Torres, was riding Thunder Mountain when his train care separated off the track when going into the tunnel and he died after having extensive internal bleeding.

  • 2003-Marcello Torres,22, bled to death riding thunder mountain after his train car separated off the track when going into the tunnel

1998-a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose, striking one employee and two park guests. One of the guests, a 33-year-old man from Duvall, Washington, died of a head injury

    HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!! :D

  • Your make-up is preeeeetty! Love the green!

  • My Mother once witnessed a death at an amusement park. Person fell off of a roller coaster.

You can drown in 2" of water.

    Have fun with your BF.

  • These are the two I found;

On September 5, 2003, 22-year-old Marcello Torres from Gardena, California died after suffering severe blunt trauma and extensive internal bleeding after a derailment of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster.

On December 24, 1998, a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose, striking one employee and two park guests. One of the guests died from a head injury.

Oh and I like what you did with your hair :) xx

  • According to Wikipedia..."On December 24, 1998, a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose, striking one employee and two park guests. Keep up your rides Disney!

  • d'awww I love the beginningggg. and yes. yes you did scare me lol. I think the ones where the little brothers stayed past closing time was the parks fault because they're supposed to check? idk lol. happy valentines day!

  • Marcelo Torres died on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Luan Dawson was on the head hit by a piece of metal that broke off a dock

  • As for ones you didn't tell us about....

    1) On September 5, 2003, 22-year-old Marcello Torres from Gardena, California died after suffering severe blunt trauma and extensive internal bleeding after a derailment of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster.

    2) On December 24, 1998, a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose, striking one employee and two park guests. One of the guests died from a head injury.

  • Fun stories about how people are ridiculously stupid. Wow. Also - your hair is really pretty in this video, Sarah :)

Of the three you told us, the guy on the Matterhorn was definitely his own fault.

Disney should have stopped the monorail when they saw the guy on the track, and they should have also checked the island for people before closing it.

  • Best intro on youtube. By miles.

Our of those the only one they could ever conceivably be liable for is the Rivers of America drowning but I don't think that's one of the one's they lost. *final year law student*

Research revealed a 2003 Thunder mountain derailment death which was totally attributed to faulty maintenance and a gentleman killed by a falling ship part in 1998 because the part had been improperly reattached I'd guess those are the 2 deaths disney actually lost cases over.

  • On September 5, 2003, 22-year-old Marcello Torres from Gardena, California died after suffering severe blunt trauma and extensive internal bleeding in a derailment of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster. The cause of the accident was determined to be improper maintenance.

    And...

On December 24, 1998, a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose, striking one employee and two park guests. One of the guests died of a head injury.

  • 1. On September 5, 2003 Marcelo Torres died from a severe blunt force trauma and extensive internal bleeding after a derailment of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster.

    2. On December 24, 1998 Luan Phi Dawson died of a head injury after he was hit by a heavy metal cleat which tore lose from the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia.

  • OMG I THINK I FINALLLY GOT IT~~~~

one was a person killed on the thunder mountain railroad when a part failed. The other was on the sailing ship columbia when a cleat broke off and hit 2 people in the head, 1 died.......right?? am i right?? ok im done trying lolz well bye bye!

  • In October 1999 Pat Shenck and her 8 year old son went on 'water sprite' jet skis on one of the park lagoons. One of their jet skis got stuck on the water when the shift wouldn't move out of neutral. A 23-year old inexperienced "captain' of the ferryboat "Kingdom Queen" hit them. Going against all park and safety regulations, he put the ferry into reverse, sucking Mrs. Shenck under the blades and boat, killing her.

  • On December 24, 1998, a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the Sailing Ship Columbia tore loose, striking one employee and two park guests. One of the guests, Luan Phi Dawson, 33, of Duvall, Washington, died of a head injury...... On September 5, 2003, 22-year-old Marcelo Torres of nearby Gardena, California died after suffering severe blunt force trauma.....maby these two??

idk, im just trying to guess the right two!

  • Awww the Tom Sawyer thing sounded like such a great idea! Darn. That is really sad though. Gotta say the stupidest one is the monorail man. Really? Who tries to walk in on the monorail without checking the monorail schedule first? Sheesh.

  • I once once didn't follow Disney safety protocol during the rush from fireworks to Fantasmic and walked through a roped off area...I tripped over a trash can and a cast member standing nearby was just like, "Yep, that's what happens when you do things you're not supposed to."

  • the kids that drowned and the one that stood up on the rollercoaster

  • One was on Thunder Mountain when the roller coaster derailed. The other was on Sailing Ship Columbia when a cleat fell off and hit three people, one died. ... I think. xD I love how cheery this video was! Made my V-day better.

  • On July 8, 1974, 18-year-old Deborah Gail Stone from Santa Ana, California was crushed to death between a revolving wall and a stationary platform inside the America Sings attraction....On September 5, 2003, 22-year-old Marcello Torres from Gardena, California died after suffering severe blunt trauma and extensive internal bleeding in a derailment of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster that also injured 10 other riders. maby these two? lol

  • I'm gonna go with the guy who stood on the monorail track, they probably should have stopped the monorail when they saw a guy standing there. Also the kids on the island could have been avoided if they had checked around the island for people before closing it for the night.

the kid on the matterhorn was his own fault

  • On December 24, 1998, a piece of metal tore away from a dock as a Tall Ship was being tied to it, hitting In October 1999 Pat Shenck and her 8 year old son went on 'water sprite' jet skis on one of the park lagoons.
