This is pancrase from Japan, early MMA with some added pro wrestling rules to entertain the fans. This was before MMA was a big sport. Bas, however, is a true freefighter, he's done well in all various martial arts he competed in.

I don't think he tapped out. That clip was just showing on how good Bas could counter submission moves. He countered that, but the ref may have taken it wrong because he sort of moved his left hand up and down in a tapping motion when he did it. Notice the opponent asking what's going on. May have been a mistake by the ref or maybe the fight just continued. But I don't think he tapped and I think the clip was about the counter.

Some of the clips are sort of a bad choice IMO. At 30 seconds Bas gets submitted, later he throws a kick and busts his ass. Bad choice for a highlight video.

Honestly I don't think they were, it shows that he's human and prone to flubs and fails just like all of us, and it's that which is what makes him and not breaks him, he just keeps fighting on. Bas is truly super human and a true legend. He's one of the reasons I practice MA/MMA today.

After many years of MMA fighting the style becomes irrelevant because you adapt to MMA rules but if you're asking about his base style then it was Kyokushin Karate.
