@GamenMetMees yes it has a retractable mike which is quite usefull because if you would just like to watch videos or listen to music you can just pull it out or in the headset.
is this designed by steel series? because they look exactly the same as the steelseries 5hv2 headset just that they have different logos printed on them.
@ystoh133 no it is made by Alienware it is just similar to the 5hv2 headset all it has that is different is the Alienware logo located on each side of the of the headset.
They are an ok headset. Ive had mine about 9 months. And the speakers aren't nearly as crisp as Day 1. They really are just all looks on the outside. Inside its crap. Hmmm, like most Alienware.
A few hours ago the left ear went out. I have to wiggle the cord around to get the audio to. Im very careful with my gaming gear and only I use it. Im just going to upgrade to some good Sennheiser's. These are now just garbage to me. Maybe I can take them apart and re-solder the cheap wiring for now.
I think I got them for $40 because I also bought an Alienware optx gaming monitor.
So ya, moneys worth is what I got. My main reason for commenting is so people don't jump all over these as an uber headset. Hence my opinion they are an "OK" headset.
Very few headsets out there really deserve the high praise they get. Most are reviewed by folks who don't know what good headsets powered by a proper sound card really produce.
There is a major difference when its all balanced :)
@patrykponichtera I would say just buy the TactX headset because its a high quality headset that you dont need to spend 100's of dollars on it. Also I would match your laptop.
@HelpFromReJY Actually, the sound quality is dependent on the audio itself, which you're right about. But even great sounding audio can sound like crap with poorly insulated wires using low-conductivity metals. That CAN degrade sound quality, even if the source quality is good.
im getting the alienware m14x soon and im wondering if i should get the keyboard added on and this mic tell me what you think and also should i get 1.5 gigs of nvidia graphics of 3.0 gigs please get back to me asap thank you and i will sub you=)
@randomfilms808 Hey there =) Firstly thanks for watching and subbing. Secondly, the keyboard is really up to you. I have always found it somewhat difficult to play on laptop keyboards, not because of possible flex, but just because of its size in comparison with my bear-sized paws. Personally, I would opt for an external keyboard (though Alienware's keyboards feel smooth, quiet, and responsive). If possible, go with 3gb nVidia, with 1.5 as your alternative. More dedicated vram=more horsepower :)
@Computerlover1994 No surround sound. However I would recommend the Steelseries Siberia V2 headset, using the USB built in sound card and support for virtual 7.1. The surround is not "real" - the sound is virtualized and produced to mimick the sound of someone coming from behind for instance- but the sound quality is very good, and the surround is very believable at times. Would not recommend those for anything other than FPS games though.
i am getting the 7H the non usb version my question is that will it give me 7.1 surround sound with the asus G73SW stock sound card or what?? cause am getting them both i hear that the G73SW sound card supports 7.1 surround but i am not sure or i just have to get the usb version anyway even if i have a sound card that supports 7.1 technology ??
@Computerlover1994 If the box says 7.1, it supports 7.1 - but not TRUE 7.1. The USB sound card emulates the surround sound for a stereo setup and makes you feel like you are getting surround. In my opinion it's great- and works really well, especially for the call of duty series of games. Keep in mind though, that regardless of virtual or real, if it doesn't say it supports it on the box, it most likely just doesn't support it at all. Good luck.
@MMCGServer If you have the proper adapters, yes. Just look for a 3.5mm adapter for your console and you should be fine. (Most consoles have propriatery connections that you can only use with their branded cables, so an adapter is necessary in most cases).
@tomstechca it wasn't designed after the steelseries headsets, it is a steelseries headset, with a slightly different alienware like design, but exactly the same in specs etc. Still, it goes better with a sick alienware setup than the steelseries do. . .good review.
I got it for $40 I think
