Valeri seems like he really knows what he is doing. From his interview, and actions during competitions, he seems like he has a really great attitiude and such confidence in Rebecca! GO REBECCA!
@danceaddict1997 sounds perfect to me but for one thing the two per country rule will keep that from happening. Plus there will be a russian in the top three even if I'm not a fan. Becca and Jordyn need to go one two! That would be perfect and would repeat 2008 :)
She has heavy competition though. For Carly and Nastia winning gold was a walk in the park but for Rebecca it's like running a marathon and just to proove that, from this point on she hasn't even won her first world title yet.
Much as I appreciate Rebecca's talent I think she always looks a bit scrappy and so I don't enjoy watching her much. She never really extends her legs or toes properly and lacks grace. People will shoot me down for this comment but it is possible to be powerful and graceful- look at Mustafina and Komova!
@littlemissnat1- there is something about Rebecca's gymnastics that make me not mind the bent knees so much. She is generally clean, has good technique & has a certain "attack" & amplitude that I enjoy. If a gymnast has other "redeeming" qualities in enough abundance, I'm forgiving of those types of "flaws" (that's mainly due to body structure than anything they're doing "wrong"). I loved Terin Humphrey's gymnastics even though she had the same problem, same thing w/ Andreea Raducan.
@littlemissnat1 - besides, Rebecca has more extension and straightens her knees more than you may realize. If you look at many still photos of her leaps & other extended positions, her knees look straight & her toes pointed.
I do sometimes think that it would be nice if she danced a bit better, but it's not a deal-breaker for me. I enjoy her current FX - they did a good job putting together something charming for an otherwise weak performer/dancer.
@littlemissnat1 I agree with most of what you said but keep in mind Mustafina actually has poor form in a lot of what she does but she looks graceful in other aspects so people over look it. Much like Nastia, she was very graceful but in tucked positions and in twists her form usually suffered.
as much as i think it would be really cool for her to win, i would rather have someone like Aliya Mustafina from Russia win because she is so strong in everything. Or Viktoria Komova :)
@sqekcx - I would bet that it's the same bar, since the docu was filmed in the same area. The bar is probably somewhere close to the gym (maybe someone familar w/ the area can confirm).
So the Liukins' love affair w/ sushi was passed to 'Becca. Actually, it might be a gym-wide tradition now (witness the teammate w/ Becca). Is it something particular about sushi that has the WOGA circle in love? Low-fat? Low carb? Gluten-free?
