I can't believe the crap the put on tv, I refuse to watch it anymore and limit my daughter's viewing TIME and CONTENT. I just found Jerry's book 4 Arguments to Eliminate TV, it's very good and I'd recommend it to anyone. I grew up where we didn't watch much TV but we would usually be outside playing. These days the kids have no creativity and think all entertainment comes from the box or latest gaming console.
Yes! Funny how we've gone on this far, and yet the same old unhealthy things are being pushed; the same overstimulated view of life being promoted.. I recall an interview done a few years ago, in Mother Earth News - how we're loosing touch with reality & devaluing our lives by oversizing highways, vehicles, etc. and it's all for ego - and profits; and it's marketed to us intensely. Still reeling from the pressure via. 4-lane interstate overgrowth destroying the appreciation level here..
Corporatism is the natural capitalistic culmination of industrialisaton, Blaz. I don't think either corporatism or industrialisation are good things, Blaz. Simple living would be best. But the corporatists know people are maluable - and people have to wake up to this. People think they want the things the capitalists want to sell them. And they often do - they want the Nintendos, the new mobile phones, the new cars, the canned drinks, the processed foods and the film star lifestyles.
One thing tho, I don't normally listen to anyone who intimates I might be butt kisser, or a bullshitter - but I listened to you this time. Actually I read what I said previously and I still stick to what I said, but I also realise corporations are using this mind control and this hypnotherapy. So, thanx for replying to my comments. But I'm not thanking you for intimating that i'm either a bullshiter or a butt kisser. Normally i'd not have listened to any of your messages after those words.
No, I wasn't deflecting. I'll have to read what I said now. I commented on these videos weeks or months ago and had forgotten what I'd said and what the video had said. At least I can now listen to the video agaiin thanx to you commenting on it. Maybe I'll be more receptive to the video this time around.
Maybe i'm just naive and didn't think people/corporations really did this stuff for real - or didn't like to think they did this stuff. I don't live in the USA btw so those corporations mean nothing much to me at all.
These 7 corporations, they seem to be US centred (centered). In other areas of the world other corporations tend to be more prominant. In Britain, your US 7 are that powerful (at this time) instead it's the likes of News Internation (Ruper Murdock).
But this "exponential growth in world hunger" is not just caused by increasing industrialisation in my opinion. No, it is caused by exponential increase in world population and war and the behaviour of people. The world population is growing to fast.
Plus, he speaks here about the big money people "making children eat sweets etc" as if they don't know they are bad for them. I still know Ben and Jerrys is bad for me but still buy and eat it. It's my choice - they just advertise it. If they didn't advertise it I might not know if it and then choose to eat it. We know if we are eating bad things don't blame it all on them.
Yes, we as adults know sweets are bad- but children are more receptive to music/colours/flashing images, easily hypnotized into believing this is what they MUST HAVE. It's awful. We've thrown our tv out into the garage, we only have to deal with overly sexualized billboards.
And these corporations are world wide, not just US centric. Money knows no borders- Phillip Morris doesn't mind the smoking bans in Western culture- because it's hooking kids in third world countries on cigarettes!
Great video. I read Manders' Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television in the 90's and it had a profound effect on how I see the BS on TV. I now look at less than an hour of TV a week.
This is great! Thanks for posting. I am a huge Jerry Mander fan. All should check out 1: "Four Arguments", "Absence of the Sacred", and "Case Against Globalization". Also check out the transcript online of Mander's Lannan Award speech. It's great.

Blaz, and yet are probably hundreds of millions of people starving in the world today - so much for industrialisation.

that includes the presidential candidates.
