@paapaa33 NOPE. Is not because the AWD, is because the volvo have a T5 (turbo engine). and this bmw is regular aspirated engine. Please notice this volvo is stock and is the 2005-2006 model. The 2007+ model have more HP and torque.
@EraMotors . The t5 is super confy to drive. We used for the long trips instead of our Mitsubishi lanser or CRV. At least for the front passengers, is extremely confortable.
@bigsmartwhale the T5 beats the older series: E46 etc... However the newer don't have that much of a chance, since the torque is the same (new s40 and new e90) but the E90 got 30 hp more... The problem with BMW in general is the torque issue, older models and especially with lower model number don't offer so much torque, however the fuel consumption beats volvo by far...

To be fair 123ct456 I think you are underestimating the T-5 a little. Even my 1996 850 T-5 with 225 bhp standard can be modded to just under 280 bhp (at the wheels) with a quailty re-map and hi-flow exaust. Now, compare a 1996 M3 evo with a claimed 321 bhp standard output and what you'll find is that 321 bhp is bench figures and around 290 bhp is the actual figure at the wheels. Maybe not as quick 0-60 as the M3, but mid range will guarantee a tailgate view for the M3 on any open road.
still. thats a moddel Volvo to a stock M3...and still i would bet the M3 would be better around the turns and more fun to drive IMO. but i do like the older Volvos...and it would be more unique to be rollin in a faster Volvo...."sleeper"
and my T-5 is AWD. loose alot more power to the wheels...is the 850 RWD? if it is it thats better than volvos new FWD or AWD sytem, since it is not Ture AWD.
I know what you're saying about modded to stock, but the 850 T-5 was heavily restricted to 225 bhp so modification is just to release the power which is already there, where as the M3 was close to its limit at 290 bhp. As you said though the handling is no where near as fun as the M3 as it's FWD, (a lot safer in wet though) but it is a sleeper though; no one expects a brick with a big spoiler and alloys to be that fast
BTW mods on M3 are really expensive... The S40T5 can be modded and pass the 300HP barrier with less than 3000usd with small mods...(ppc, exhaust, filter, downpipe, wastegate). And we are talking about 1/4 car price difference
I rarely will buy a new or almost new car so I guess the warranty thing really does not matter on older cars. But yes the modding market for Volvos is fairly small bit I have seen plenty of modded volvos around, more then super cars but i guess thats just me.

Yeah they are - but after around 2nd Gear the M3 walks away from the S60R far more than is shown in the Vids.. I think alot of the Volvos are either modded or the M3 drivers are manuals and horriable drivers.. because I always leave the S60Rs after 2nd gear with no problem. Leave them - easy. Its not even close after 2nd gear.

the bmw 330 only has 220 hp the volvo s40 t5 has 218 hp with all wheel drive. The Volvo would have better pick up plus I think i makes like 20 to 30 more lb/ft of torque so that helps to. the BMW was not that far behind it.

But really over all the 330CI is a better car in handling, Just in this drag race this volvo had several advantages over the BMW. On a road course the Bmw is most likely faster.

Volvo Interior are better. I have friends with BMW and they even agree. I don't have modds but here at Mex because the high altitude I beat m3 like piece of cake. This is why here in MX even the 335 can beat the M3....

Pues si conozco el 335 si ya de agencia viene muy cabron pero supongo que su maximo te lo da a nivel del mar que es una pequenha desventaja, el volvo me lo quedo porque me lo heredo alguien muy querido tambien tengo un audi S5 que te recomiendo ampliamente pero lo que busco es algun auto familiar aunque si con unos 230 hp minimo uanque si eh si se tratara de un deportivo yo me compraria un M3 ahi si es un coche excepcional y agrgandole un turbo con eso tienes de sobra. saludos
Recuerda que los coches turbo no se afectan tanto con la altura... por eso el volvo t5 es bueno en el df... el 335 de bmw es biturbo, asi que aqui en el df da el 99% de su power... no se afecta tanto como el m3 que pierde el 20% de su power.... el m3 es un carrazo pero es muy caro.... me gusta mucho el audi!!
Pensé que a los coches turbo no le afectaba estar por encima del nivel del mar (es un hecho que no le afecta a los normalmente aspirados) sin embargo estuve en tuxpan (0 altura sobre nivel del mar) y el volvo jala tan impresionante que es molesto.
Pues he estado en poza rica bastante cerca de tuxpam poquitos metros sobre el nivel del mar y efectivamente mejora el rendimiento aunque se nota mas en un aspirado natural , segun entiendo los motores turbo rinden aprox el 92% a la altura del DF. asi que pues a nivel del mar se incromenta casi un 10% el rendimiento de un motor turbo.
Sorry, es mi mensaje arriba se me fue una palabar, quise decir "es un hecho que no le afecta COMO a los normalmente aspirados"... o sea se que a los naspirados les afecta mucho y a los turbo un poco, pero despues de vivirlo, si afecta y bastante (o ese 10% se siente mucho). si al principio esta fea pera ya para tuxpam es la recta , aunque si he visto varios volteados aunque todos han sido autos compactos pues si siempre hay que tomar precauciones.
y ya en las ciudades pues te ayuda la altura pero las calles con sus cuadritos, los semaforos que muy rapido cambian a rojo, y no hay vias rapidas no se puede aprovechar las bondades de la altura.
pues ya tiene que no le checo pero el m3 anda por los $75000 usd el que anda por los $100,000 usd es el m6 otro carraso pero no me sabia lo del biturbo del 335i si es asi pues que buena opcion para el df.

El m3 está en dos versiones en mexico, de 89mil y de 93mil dolares, pero si le empiezas a poner cosas llega y se pasa de los 100 mil dolares. puedes ir a la agencia y preguntar o checa en sitios como autocosmos, autoplaza, etc. Ademas con el precio del dolar ahora, te podras imaginar que sale como en 1.3 millones!!!

I sold my volvo s4o t5 3 months ago and got a new BMW 335i , and beleive me , these Bmw is way faster than my "old" volvo , which served me very well with no complaints.
I live in Mexico city and those turbo cars are fantastic because of the high altitude
the 335i is very different from the 330 car on this video. BTW the 335i car you have now have a Biturbo engine, so never compare a 335i with a t5 or a 330bmw. Your car can even beat the old m3 in mexico because the altitude, here the normally aspirated engines lost 10% performance!

I know what you're saying about modded to stock, but the 850 T-5 was heavily restricted to 225 bhp so modification is just to release the power which is already there, where as the M3 was close to its limit at 290 bhp. As you said though the handling is no where near as fun as the M3 as it's FWD, (a lot safer in wet though) but it is a sleeper though; no one expects a brick with a big spoiler and alloys to be that fast

BTW mods on M3 are really expensive... The S40T5 can be modded and pass the 300HP barrier with less than 3000usd with small mods...(ppc, exhaust, filter, downpipe, wastegate). And we are talking about 1/4 car price difference

I rarely will buy a new or almost new car so I guess the warranty thing really does not matter on older cars. But yes the modding market for Volvos is fairly small bit I have seen plenty of modded volvos around, more then super cars but i guess thats just me.

Yeah they are - but after around 2nd Gear the M3 walks away from the S60R far more than is shown in the Vids.. I think alot of the Volvos are either modded or the M3 drivers are manuals and horriable drivers.. because I always leave the S60Rs after 2nd gear with no problem. Leave them - easy. Its not even close after 2nd gear.

the bmw 330 only has 220 hp the volvo s40 t5 has 218 hp with all wheel drive. The Volvo would have better pick up plus I think i makes like 20 to 30 more lb/ft of torque so that helps to. the BMW was not that far behind it.

But really over all the 330CI is a better car in handling, Just in this drag race this volvo had several advantages over the BMW. On a road course the Bmw is most likely faster.

Ud mod a Volvo? Why tho? I really dont see the apeal in them - sure they good cars.. safe etc. They arnt slow. But they have horriable interiors - cheap plastic dash.. seats are great but ther not sporty. The engine dosnt sound good, they are nothing special standard. They look like a average saloon from the outside. While the M3 is realyl aggressive look and goes like a bat outa hell standard with no turbo or any mods!

I mean when I got my M3 - I went to a BMW track day here. The car only had 5,000kms on the clock - brand new - only just brocken in! I drove it really hard that day - I glazed over the big drilled brakz on that bad boys. If I had moded the car my warranty would have been N.A and I would have been up for $6,000 to fix them! 6 GRAND! lol leave the warranty as it is I say!

el t5 jala cañon, frena cañon, suspension cañon, todo muy bien pero no te lo recomiendo, todo lo de volvo es carisimo, se devalua mucho, el servicio es para el perro en las agencias, ya hasta las estan cerrando. no recomiendo volvo a nadie (yo tengo uno y fue el peor error de mi vida).

Pues si conozco el 335 si ya de agencia viene muy cabron pero supongo que su maximo te lo da a nivel del mar que es una pequenha desventaja, el volvo me lo quedo porque me lo heredo alguien muy querido tambien tengo un audi S5 que te recomiendo ampliamente pero lo que busco es algun auto familiar aunque si con unos 230 hp minimo uanque si eh si se tratara de un deportivo yo me compraria un M3 ahi si es un coche excepcional y agrgandole un turbo con eso tienes de sobra. saludos

Recuerda que los coches turbo no se afectan tanto con la altura... por eso el volvo t5 es bueno en el df... el 335 de bmw es biturbo, asi que aqui en el df da el 99% de su power... no se afecta tanto como el m3 que pierde el 20% de su power.... el m3 es un carrazo pero es muy caro.... me gusta mucho el audi!!

Pensé que a los coches turbo no le afectaba estar por encima del nivel del mar (es un hecho que no le afecta a los normalmente aspirados) sin embargo estuve en tuxpan (0 altura sobre nivel del mar) y el volvo jala tan impresionante que es molesto.

Pues he estado en poza rica bastante cerca de tuxpam poquitos metros sobre el nivel del mar y efectivamente mejora el rendimiento aunque se nota mas en un aspirado natural , segun entiendo los motores turbo rinden aprox el 92% a la altura del DF. asi que pues a nivel del mar se incromenta casi un 10% el rendimiento de un motor turbo.

Claro siempre mejora su rendimiento ocasionalmente viajo a tuxpam pero donde llego a pasar mas tiempo es en poza rica y ya ahi se sienten mejor los coches , lo que si que son ciudades mas chicas y no se puede correr tan libremente aparte de que su pavimento formado por cuadros, pero la autopista se puede aprovechar bastante, el que me tengo que llevar cuando me lo entrguen es el c63 amg ya que en el df los aspirado natural si se bajan muchismo de potencia . saludos.

El m3 está en dos versiones en mexico, de 89mil y de 93mil dolares, pero si le empiezas a poner cosas llega y se pasa de los 100 mil dolares. puedes ir a la agencia y preguntar o checa en sitios como autocosmos, autoplaza, etc. Ademas con el precio del dolar ahora, te podras imaginar que sale como en 1.3 millones!!!

The 335i is very different, is a biturbo engine, the 330 is normal aspirated, is slow compared with the Turbo engine Pentacilinder Volvo

I sold my volvo s4o t5 3 months ago and got a new BMW 335i , and beleive me , these Bmw is way faster than my "old" volvo , which served me very well with no complaints.
I live in Mexico city and those turbo cars are fantastic because of the high altitude

the 335i is very different from the 330 car on this video. BTW the 335i car you have now have a Biturbo engine, so never compare a 335i with a t5 or a 330bmw. Your car can even beat the old m3 in mexico because the altitude, here the normally aspirated engines lost 10% performance!
