It's time to get serious about climate change, and since Australia has two major leaders that they don't want, more people are likely to support the Greens now!
I voted (second place) for the Greens at the last Fed Election. Never again. I later read that the Greens are for conscientious objection for members of the Australian Defense Force to the point where 'objectors' would not have to participate in duty. Well...I wish I could live in their fantasy world too...I mean lets face it - war is a thing of the past right?

@4duff5 Coalition and Labor don't want to be there!...apart from the loss of life it's a (significant) drain on the economy...the problem with the greens is that as they will never actually preside over absolute power they can afford to make unsupportable claims - these claims will never be tested, and therefore will not be shown as the baseless rhetoric they are.
The Greens get control of the Senate at the end of next week so they will have some power to wield. Hopefully the Greens evolves beyond its protest party origins to become a major political force
Well personally I don't believe Australia has been in any wars they should've been in the past 150 years apart from world war 2. So yeh, that'd be right.
The Greens didn't ask for this ad. It was done by a tv show and they denied the Greens the right to have when they asked to buy it. It is a beautiful ad but it isn't part of their campaign.
I love that the Greens stand for not what is necessarily easy, but for what is right. This is the most honest, genuine and beautiful advertisements i had seen in the entire election campaign.

How quickly the ice freezes and un-freezes by weather temperature traps different amounts of air containing things like carbon dioxide and pollution. So they can measure these things as well.

I love that here is a powerful political advertisement that is not a massive fear campaign, has a calm tone and doesn't smear anybody. Hope the big two parties can learn something positive from it because petty mudslinging doesn't really help them or help us as a country. Sorry to stay on topic, but I'll be voting Greens!
My issues are the forests and the greens seem to be slipping on this one important point. Also, I'm quite frightened by the climate scaremongering. Christians have believed for 2000 years that Christ was returning any day now. . .well he hasn't and there's no way to falsify the idea that he IS. The same is true for the climate change hypothesis. Hence it is religion and not science read Karl Popper. Carbon taxes are highly regressive and will destroy the economy. Disappointed greens.

After repeated attempts to falsify fail, it is then called a theory. AGW hypothese makes predictions of the future that cannot be tested and hence they are not scientific. Am I wrong? @BAXTSPRCHRGD Greens policies will HELP local car producers because they'll have to get off their asses and start playing catch up with the rest of the world who are actually trying to develop cleaner, more efficient technologies. We can tax CO2 now or later, the longer we leave it the further behind our industries will be compared to the rest of the world.

Climate Change is verified now, in fact the 'skeptics' dont even universally deny that now, instead they have shifted the argument to whether or not its human activity that drives it (but the SCIENTIFIC consensus is that it does). We definitely have the technology to guage temperature's thousands and even hundreds of millions of years into the past

The Greens certainly don't hit the slander note for any other party. Their campaigning has been tactful and all about THEIR approach to Australian issues.
Should've led with dental for medicare, leading with the environment just plays to the faithful and turns off people who think the greens are just about the environment. Why the fuck aren't the Greens making these ads for real? Hopefully they take a hint from this and actually come out with some good shit now. Even if they don't have a huge budget because they're a tiny party there's a thing called social media and youtube they can take advantage of.
@DaniMaree1, because the ABC owns the copyright :-(, not Republic Of Everyone, and the ABC isn't allowed to produce ads for political parties, since it's supposed to be neutral and non-commercial. The Greens wanted to use the ad, but Republic Of Everyone couldn't sell it to them because the ABC owned it, and the ABC wouldn't sell it to them. So the Greens just have to link to youtube clips.
This ad has been denied from TV, but it will get immense internet coverage. Help get it out there with your facebook, twitter, and other social media accounts.
This ad was great. So much better than the official Greens ad, which really sucked.

I voted (second place) for the Greens at the last Fed Election. Never again. I later read that the Greens are for conscientious objection for members of the Australian Defense Force to the point where 'objectors' would not have to participate in duty. My issues are the forests and the greens seem to be slipping on this one important point. Also, I'm quite frightened by the climate scaremongering. Christians have believed for 2000 years that Christ was returning any day now. . .well he hasn't and there's no way to falsify the idea that he IS. The same is true for the climate change hypothesis. Hence it is religion and not science read Karl Popper. Carbon taxes are highly regressive and will destroy the economy. Disappointed greens.

Temperature records barely date back a century can you honestly say that it's IMPOSSIBLE for any year to ever have been hotter then 2005? I don't want to spend all my time shooting down your so called facts so will try rap it up. When Science says it will be pissing down rain tomorrow (I definitely can't say it will) I take an umbrella. When 97% of climate scientists say we are causing global warming I err on the side of caution. Why is it so hard to believe?

Instrumented records go back to 150 years but science has looked at the temperature for the last 1000 years (2005>1765 by the way). I don't claim to have done the research or been around in 1765 but I don't dispute the science of there being dinosaurs millions of years ago even though I wasn't around then (your argument). C'mon mister I didn't read anything or watch anything so I am right.

Did they invent a time machine? and if they did it for 1000 years why not longer back? You are implying that in the worlds billions of years 2005 has been the hottest which is pure idiocy to say the least because there is no evidence for this. There is evidence of dinosaurs but still we don't know it all. Look up Brontosaurs for example.

Same goes for green tech - just starting out and will come down in price. Besides - what could be cheaper than solar and solarthermal - free electricity!

Climate Change is verified now, in fact the 'skeptics' dont even universally deny that now, instead they have shifted the argument to whether or not its human activity that drives it (but the SCIENTIFIC consensus is that it does). That's definitely not a flood of terrorists or fakes. The real ones you're talking about come from planes. And that's usually from western countries too.

Second, the vast majority have zero links with terrorism. The problems you describe are a problem with AUSTRALIAN GOVERMENT policy. The Government has a NON-ASSIMILATION policy. Its called MULTICULTURALISM, which means a society which maintains distinct cultural identies based on land of origin. Take it up with the Govt, not these poor boat people!

Should've led with dental for medicare, leading with the environment just plays to the faithful and turns off people who think the greens are just about the environment. Leading with medicare would've got people who would generally oppose the greens for being 'left-wing-enviro-nuts' to sit up and pay attention to what they have to offer.
Overall though a top notch ad. Anyone in IP law know how much of a tv program you can show as 'fair use'? If it's 30seconds the greens could have something...

@DaniMaree1, because the ABC owns the copyright :-(, not Republic Of Everyone, and the ABC isn't allowed to produce ads for political parties, since it's supposed to be neutral and non-commercial. The Greens wanted to use the ad, but Republic Of Everyone couldn't sell it to them because the ABC owned it, and the ABC wouldn't sell it to them. So the Greens just have to link to youtube clips.
