New development in renewable energy isn't going to happen fast enough. People just do not get this. The oil came from mother nature over millions of years. We're actually helping clean up nature's oil spill! The 'tailings' from the ponds came from the ground to begin with and all the water used in the oilsands evaporates right back into the atmosphere 100% clean! (the water cycle) And the CO2 just stimulates more plant/crop growth around the world, supporting more life. Nature is incredibly homeostatic!

Because oil output peaked in much of the rest of the world, and the growth of China and India, the price of oil has risen a lot, and won't come down. I don't trust industry to do this extraction in an environmentally sensitive way. I don't trust the Alberta government to regulate industry and promote competition.
