edison.... this is really ill shit man. Not sure why there's only 6k plays. I mean, justice plays shows without plugging in their midi cables. Then people like you throw down a routine they cant hope to follow. People will come around to their senses soon enough. Also, Moldover FTW! Love that guy. Come out to SF!!!
@MrSalmon88 well... sorry to disappoint... im just doing what i do... i make noise for my aesthetic, backround and tastes... admittedly, it is not like what else is going on out there... but thanks for listening... glad it inspired you to comment....
This video was phenomenal! The projection appearing behind him at the climax was a great touch, and the set planning was very detailed and interesting. Very smooth look and well-crafted cinematography. Oh, and Edison was great as always.
Is this the same space in which you shot the Egadz! video where he skateboards in the beginning? Any more info on this venue?
@MrSalmon88 Well that's just it, they aren't samples and name me one person who makes music that sounds like this. Sometimes it's about doing something that looks cool as well, and not about your purest ideals. We like to have fun with what we do, and you can't blame us for that.
@kidwithoutradio I think it's amazing. It's hard to grasp at first that each button press is playing an individual sound for the drum beats and the backing tones all adding up as you play. Until you start focusing on one button lighting up and hearing the sound with it, then watch your hands FLYING across the buttons with ease, makes it so much more enjoyable an appreciate the music you make.
I think that the visuals are secondary to the music, if anything, but that theyare definitely not something to overlook. One of the major downfalls of electronic music is the live performance. Blockhead recently mentioned how he was working on a new setup and acknowledged that his live laptop shows have left a lot to be desired.. Incorporating the lighting and the second monome not only add versatility, but aesthetic & interactive values that only push the art forward.
@MrSalmon88 You MUST realize the amount of effort that goes into this kind of production. It is absolutely GENIUS. I always tell musicians that... if they are playing a guitar... i can pick up their guitar and emulate whatever they play(unless they're Steve Vai)... but I'd just LOVE to see them make a track on my rig. HUGE PROPS to Edison for this video. This is serious some really hard shit to organize. I'd like to see you do it.
@jwparfrey False equivialency. A more apt comparison would be if the guitarist played a short section of a song, cut the strings, removed the pickups, twisted all the knobs on the amp, and detached the neck before giving it to you. I don't care who you think you are, you'd shit your pants and go suck your thumb in the corner.
What an arrogant, self-important little prick you must be to have to belittle the talents of others in order to make yourself feel better.
@MrSalmon88 If you had any concept of how difficult utilizing a monome, or any other matrix sequencer is, you wouldn't have said this. It's one thing to be able to push a couple buttons and call it music, it's another thing to create something that appeals visually and musically. Edison accomplishes both of these, and is able to replicate it in a live environment. How much better is this style with an amazing visual to add to it? Pull your head out of your ass
