I bought this album when it came out. And loved every last second of it. But had forgotten it completely until just now when searching for something else by the sadly missed Mr Bedford. Utterly gorgeous. btw I was looking for Beford's "Nurses Songs with Elephants" - any ideas anyone?
This is great. I've recently begun to listen to Mike Oldfield, and now hearing this, I would love to hear other related music, so David Bedford will be in my list of albums to look out for. Thanks!
How strange to see this on YouTube! Thanks to whoever put it up. Diny your voice still sounds great, but I can't believe it was all that long ago! You must be in your 40s by now!
Yes I did meet Mike Oldfield on many occasions : from once recording at his house in Herefordshire, to touring as one of the singers on the Exposed European Tour in 1979. Brillaint musician, very gentle and shy (aloof ?) personality. Glad you still enjoy his music , Ommadawn is one of my all time favourite albums.
Well here I am, Diana Coulson, who sang this aged 14 - a very long time ago !! This is very funny, someone just sent me the link to this and I had no idea it was on You Tube. Good memories, of a beautiful song, a wonderful school and an inspiring singing teacher - David Bedford - who gave us the opportunity to sing like this :) Quel bonheur !
@dinycoulson I have been in some very bad places doing a rather interesting job and this has always been the music I come home (wherever that is) to. Thank you, Diana.

@dinycoulson This is a wonderful piece of music and recording - one of my all-time favourites. I remember your name form the cover - how nice to hear from you now. Did you ever meet Mike Oldfield (my all-time musical hero) ? I understand he recorded his guitar at his studio after the rest had been recorded. You are so lucky to have been taught by David Bedford.
Cette chanson "populaire" a manifestement été réharmonisée par David Bedford (observez la ligne de basse.... extraordinaire, à en avoir les larmes aux yeux).
@claudianat23 You're welcome. Despite the fact I hate the "school" part of my life. I've often been told boys choirs were better than girls ones. This piece shows the contrary.
I also love it :-) But this last track is by far the most traditional. All other tunes are much more interesting, more experimental. What I always wanted to get is a live recording of this or »The Odyssee« by Bedford. I think at least T.O. has been performed live in 1976, with the help of half a dozend other keyboard players :-)) Has someone ever noticed a bootleg from this event?

Wonderful music. Should get a much wider audience. One of the few successes where "classical" music has had a modern edge improving it.
