I dont think they named it after notch from minecraft,due to the fact that they were sued by Zenimax, Parent Company of Bethesda Softworks for attempting to trademark the word Scrolls as the title of Mojang's new game.The pickaxe may be a reference to the mountaineers Geroge Mallory and Andrew Sandy Irvine who disappeared while climbing Mount Everest. they did find his Irvine's pickaxe. Irvine marked his equipment, so the "Notched" prefix may refer to those markings.

I found an easter egg ( i think it was anyway ) when i first bought the game, i cant remember where it was, i know its wayy past winterhold, i just kept swimming in the frozen water for like a half an hour, and i found a glacier, it was so hard to climb but i still did :) and at the top it had "BATHESDA" or somthing close to that engraved in it, and a chest next to it with 20,000 coins and some otheer stuff, does anyone else know about this? i cant find any vids on it

The reason this is an easter egg:

1. The pickaxe refers to the mining done in Minecraft

2. The constent jumping to get there refers to the ass ton of jumping in Minecraft

3. The crafting bonus refers to the crafting in Minecraft

4. The lightning damage refers to the patch were the monsters are hit by lightning they do more damage

@jack702killermonjaro You need to be "half way" (roughly) through the main story, you'll end up going back to high Hrogthgar for the shout "Dragonrend" (which will down dragons and prevent them from going back into the sky). Once you talked to the "Grand Master" then yer free to venture to the peak at that point.
