  • Thank you :)

  • wrong fucking lyrics

  • Who is the arranger?

  • Did you say darkies or people? I couldn't hear it clearly.

  • I have lived in Kentucky all my life and been a chorale member for four years. I am leaving for college next semester. I just realized what an opportunity I missed to sing this with my school chorale. Oh well, I'll be back eventually, if for nothing else just to sing this song with my fellow Kentuckians. Take care of her while I'm gone, friends.

  • My first husbands family was from Kentucky about 1790 and our family always likes to here it played at the Kentucky Derby,!

  • Kentucky is the promised land. And Heaven WILL be the virgin land of Kentucky. Beautiful rendition.

  • This sounds really good... We had to perform this a few days ago for Veteran's Day, the same way because of the arrangement. Keep up all the good work~

  • I have a friend who suffers from cancer. He is a Kentucky native. We served in the Air Force in Thailand in 68 & 69. I think only of him as Iisten to the music of Mr. Foste and this magnificent choir! .

  • This song was sung by Chinese in the Humphrey Bogart movie "The Left Hand of God". They sang it when he left the country and everybody was crying.

    IMDB title/tt0048291

  • P.S. somebody really has uploaded it to Youtube:

  • Henry: I dug this out from my YouTube site. I always play it on race day. They do a beautiful job. Enjoy your day. I hope y ou are feeling well. Vince //we

  • this song alway's bring's a tear to my eye. Going home soon. Thank's for putting this on here. It's helped me a lot.

  • Safetyguy75 I like you seem to tear up every time I here this, especially on derby day. I am also going home to Owensboro soon. I miss you ol girl!!!!

  • That was beautiful. One of the best if not the best version I have heard.

  • @jessicanickell Have you heard Happy Chandler sing it? It's on here.

  • Beutifal.

  • I'm so very proud of my state. I love it with all of my heart. For it's beauty, it's history, and it's people. Without question... my favorite state. Forever.

  • Someday when we go to heaven. I imagine it being like Kentucky.

  • In Heaven there is no "white lightning, Blue Grass, nor any bourbon." Some things in Heaven you just can't bring with you. But a beautiful thought from you. Thanks for sharing it.

  • If the angels sing like this choir...You're in Heaven.

  • This chorus sings perfectly in tune and with real expression; I'm originally from Kentucky and this made me cry.

  • I'm from Ohio. Our State song is "hang on Sloopy.' Go figure. Our other state song is "Beautiful Ohio." This choir touched my heart also. God doesn't make guys like Stephen Foster any more. Such a shame.

  • Foster. Great guy. Bet he never thought his song would be sung into the 21st Centruy. Beautiful presentation of a great song. An intergral part of American music.

  • who is the director??

  • The conductor is Mr. John Flannery

  • I agree with steph this is a wonderful rendition of the song...i sang it with the collge of charleston choir in south carolina. wonderful job!

  • I'm not sure what cdogslovergirl is talking about. I'm from Kentucky, also, and have sung in choirs (including the UK Chorale) since I could talk. The arrangement was fine. There is no "chorus" after the first verse. Great job!

  • What a huge choir you have! I think you did the arrangment beautifully. And scince you had so many guys in the mix, you got to pull off the beginning with the guys leading.

Btw, good job with having a steady camera. It's so hard to find a good recording on here. :P

  • i live in kentucky and though you sounded good please note that after the first verse is the chorus. please take this into consideration bc here we pride in our song. it has pure meaning. other than that good job.

  • we performed the piece the way it was arranged, we had no say in editing the music

  • @adcahela, they way it is presented is the correct way. Whoever commented first has no idea what they're talking about.

  • Listen again. They are doing it as rewritten in '86. Chorus is right where it should be.

  • @cdogslovergirl1

Yeah. . . Talk to the editor, arranger, and publisher. Just be glad you have a state song this beautiful.
