The general rule for GPS usage though: TRUST IT! When I borrowed my dad's GPS it was the same reaction, "WTF you talkin bout Mr. GPS!?". Though it doesn't always know YOUR route it DOES know how to get there. For many it's hard to get used to.
@postbreak what do u mean by just GPS? it doesnt need the use of 3g or wifi at all? btw have u tried the tomtom carkit? it enhances the gps signal too
its almost freaking 2010 and still NO TEXT TO SPEECH??? and $99.00? for the software alone? f@#& that shit its not worth it and the maps look like crap, and WTF is with YARDS??? it doesn't say kilometers/meters or miles?? thats way too much money for a software with so many flaws, thank y you for taking the time and testing it for us. I won't be getting it unless many things change
something about the iphone about running two apps at the same time that I dont understand it seems like it has the power to do so but they dont allow it, hummm? I had a 2G it did shut down when i was playing music had wifi on and downloading a file off the internet but that was 2 apps + wifi and two of the programs using flash memory. That I understood why it had to reset.
I have both Tom Tom and Navigon. Tom Tom is really bad. Always behind, the accuracy is horrible, and it keeps jumping to a different road. Navigon is awsome very accurate but the streets name are hard to read.
I was leaning toward Navigon, but I want to wait and see what the TomTom mount for the iPhone will be like before I make up my mind. I think with the mount, it could possibly make the TomTom the winner.
tomtom mount will work with other satnav apps, so i would make your choice based on which app (which works with the mount) you like the most, providing the mount is good!
Wait. Navigon is horrible. Their routing logic blows unless all your travel is on interstate highways. Let's hope TomTom improves or someone else deploys a better solution
Hey nice review, although the next time I see you go to Taco Bell in one of your videos I want to hear you order a chicken quesadilla, with a side of nachos and a coke haha.
Nice video,, How can you have your iphone this close to the radio,, im getting noise pulsing when the iphone is that close .. How about the response time when driving is it far behind real driving, or close ?
Can you make a route with more points of visits? i often have 15 visits on route and if i can make this route from home that would be nice.. ?
can it work wihtout wifi/3g? just like a regular standalone gps unit?

Tom Tom says, when you get to Taco Bell:
"You. Have. Made. A. Run. For. The. Border."
Taco Bell FTW!

does it need wifi or the use of 3g?
Red2Delta 2 years ago
It doesn't need either in my testing. Just GPS. Without cell service the accuracy sucks.
