I think we can probably eliminate minnie and peter. (Smart, huh?) Joshua Bell has already been guessed. Personally, I don't think Lisa Batiashvili is as talented as she is pretty, and I'll let unemcumberedfiddler take it from here.
Among the names I have listed, I believe the mystery violinist to be the one who plays the ex-Paschell, artfully crafted in 1742 by Pietro Guarneri, and often confused with a Stradivarius: Stephanie Chase.
You are absolutely, positively correct - the Mystery Violinist is Stephanie Chase, performing Camille Saint-Saens' "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso" with the Philharmonia, conducted by Geoffrey Simon.
Thanks for listening and for your comments, everyone! We'll post another Mystery Violinist video soon!
okay, I'm going to do this systematically... Gilles Apap? Lisa Batiashvili ? Joshua Bell ? Dmitri Berlinsky? Gabriel Bolkosky? Linda Brava ? Stephanie Chase? Glenn Dicterow? Renate Eggebrecht? James Ehnes? William Fitzpatrick ? Eugene Fodor? Minnie Mouse? Peter Rabbit?
Leonid Kogan, Ginette Neveu, Michael Rabin, Ida Haendel, Mischa Elman, Zino Francescatti, Ruggiero Ricci, Henryk Szeryng, Joseph Szigeti, or Nathan Milstein?
Here are the guesses thus far, all of which are incorrect:
Anne-Sophie Mutter, Pinchas Zukerman, Mark O'Connor, Ivry Gitlis, Janine Jansen, Chee-Yun, Joshua Bell, Arthur Grumiaux, Itzhak Perlman, James Ehnes, Cho-Liang Lin, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Josef Gingold, Shmuel Ashkenazi, Salvatore Accardo, David Oistrakh, Hilary Hahn, Maxim Vengerov, Isaac Stern, Gil Shaham, Michael Rabin, Anne Akiko Meyers, Sarah Chang, and Jascha Heifetz.
This is what it is, with no attempt to "fool" anyone; we make no declarations that this is the "youngest," "greatest," or "most virtuosic" violinist, or that it's someone famous or unknown.
Perhaps we are merely examining the question of a pure listening experience, without prejudice.....and people are welcome to listen or not, and to make a guess - or not.
this is tough. I dont recognize the playing at all. It is not one of the great old masters thats for sure. The playing is very good though. Sounds a little like Gil Shaham.
We're all waiting with baited breath. (What does that really mean?)
