  • people buy worms. .12 to a container to string on a hook for fishing. any different? its cruel but those who are that bothered by it better not be eating any meat or dairy nor own a can of raid or a mouse trap. . otherwise just hypocrits with 2 much time on their hands.

  • I had two frogs from brookstone. I moved them to a larger tank. Sadly, Koby passed away after I had her for a year, but Clyde is alive and healthy. He'd probably be dead if he hadnt been moved to a bigger tank.

  • This is horrible!

I love the frogs that are wild and free in my back yard. They are free and happy :)

  • THANK YOU PETA FOR STOPPING THE SELLING OF THE FROG O SPHERE.

  • I've got the bio-sphere and will most certainly will be sending away for my frogs - which I will name Kermit and Herman - and they will sit on my desk at work in all of their glory....Ima save two of those little fockers' lives from this madess....VIVA LOS FROGS

  • @goldie

Do you think this is HUMANE? You are basically saying that making animals suffer like this okay! What is wrong with you? How would you like it if you were stuffed in an air-tight room filled with 100 other people?

  • It suprises me that people think fish and amphibians are simple to care for. Aquariums/terrariums tend to be fairly expensive and require a lot of work. After all, it's a mini eco system.

You'd be in so much s**t if this was happening in Australia.

  • frogs are a great part in the ecosystem... but seriously... if the oceans die off.. all the saving of these little creatures wont matter... think about it... no clean water means no oxygen for us... or anything else for that matter.... so if you wanna save anything save the sharks whales and dolphins... and whatever else..

  • I would have thought PETA would have much higher goals to achieve than stopping a small operation of frog sellers.....

  • @Wazpacman lol you are one of the stupidest people I ever met 1 snails don't do that 2 3rd grade science there's air in water you tart and 3 shutup If you don't know what your talking about

  • guess what this type of frog lives in and under water and doesnt need to surface for air! furthermore as a former employee at brookstone we also get shipments of snails which clean the waste away. they eat the skin and algae. ok and yes the frogs on occasion did die. in the store i worked at we had maybe one a month at most. what about goldfish or hermet crabs at other stores? PETA needs to focus on things that have much more relevance to the human condition.

  • Brookstone African Dwarf Frogs are actually the healthiest ones I've been able to find. I checked a local pet store and their ADFs had redleg. I bought a petsmart one which turned out to be diseased and wiped out my entire tank. The Brookstone ones were healthy and lived for a really long time (until the petstore one was brought in).

  • I'm all for like animal well-being and stuff but... PETA are PSYCHOS!!!!! To keep every little individual frog in a squeaky-clean, no germs at all environment and feeding them so they are full every second of their lives would cost companies SO much money... I didn't even see anything bad in this video... who cares if they all live together in a plastic bin? We live together in houses, don't we? I mean they could clean out the shedding skin and stuff but I don't think it's gonna kill them...

  • This video is pretty bad they could do a little more and make themselves more money by just putting them in bigger tanks with filters and have alot less DOA. But if you buy a frog-o-sphere just upgrade its tank and food and it seems like it will be fine

  • really? this video isnt bad at all, Female frogs lay there eggs in small confined areas where there eggs can grow(much smaller than the bins. And about 3/4 of the animals die anyways weather it be hunger or predators. This video just prvoes you can put sad music over anything and people will feel bad

  • i want to buy one of these but then put the frogs in a 15 gal tank (or 10 gal) and maybe add some corydoras, and i want to feed them every day. Anyone message me on the care for them. I want to have down the bases. I really want the frogs to be ok, and I think that if by the 5th day they should be sold, if not thats a horrible business! and I hope you know that peta...they are too animalistic. really? humans matter too, and they should look in on walmart's fish if they think this is bad!!!!

  • 2 questions: do they smell? my fam will only get them if they dont smell bad. can they hop A LOT? i dont want them do be flying everywhere around mah house. PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTIONS! :)

  • im not a PETA fan really. but regardless..the frog o sphere thing..its alot different from eating meat. first off its too small, then only feed them those pellets twice a week? thats terrible. they eat every day...people can go without food for awhile but we choose not to cause its uncomfortable..im sure its the same for them >.> really. look up the real facts on these frogs and you'll see brookstone has it all wrong

  • @twistedf3ar and you? dumb opinion imo. these things are honestly pretty shitty. shouldn't mistreat any animal just cause it isn't big doesn't mean it doesn't deserve life.

  • omg you guys have to be kidding me. THEY ARE FROGS!!!!!!!!!! are you gonna go to the pet store and demand that the fish be let go because its cruelty to put a fucking goldfish in a bowl?? PETA is RETARDED

  • WTF! Now that company says they're selling Dwarf Alligators to children!

  • what the fuck, this is horrible.

  • ihatyoustar those ARE the tanks you sell them in. we have all been to brookstone i think we would know what they look like. this is cruel and wrong i wouldnt mind buying every single one you have and let them go in a safe enviorment where they can live happily and freely. they should also have 10 GALLONS of water and plenty of hiding space.

  • @plentypeas -since you know these things you should NEVER release ANY animal that you buy from a store or something into the WILD, they have most likely been captive bred, and can overrun habitats. Just look at the cane toad! Releasing animals is bad bad bad! lol and they multiply like crazy. they're like kittens.

  • I work at Brookstone and I care for the frogs. First of all, those are not the tanks we sell the frogs in. Actually, we don't even get the tanks from wild creations... We get them from the warehouse. We receive the frogs in plastic bags (which I agree is a bit cruel) However, we rarely get dead ones on shipment. I think it's a matter of us caring well for the frogs once they are at the store. Btw we don't keep the frogs in boxes, they are in the back room. We bring them out upon selling them.

  • @ihateyoustar tell your boss to stop selling the frog-o-sphere. So many of them die in this process. The frogs hate the tanks also. The frogs barely eat because they aren't supposed to jump and bite. that's how mine died. More and more will keep on dying so just stop selling them.

  • It doesn't matter what your view on PETA is. The distribution of these frogs is wrong on so many levels. It's not a matter of opinion. It's simply not right for these frogs to live this way! These frogs can live up to 18 years if well taken care of. However, this company and these people who buy the product don't give them that chance. If you're going to take these animals out of nature and use them as pets, treat them well, otherwise leave them in nature.

  • I think PETA is great. Pushing their views on other people with no regard for other opinions is so progressive and awesome. Yay peta!!

  • I agree...Peta is ridiculous. However, the Frog-o-sphere environment is simply NOT healthy for these types of frogs. It doesn't matter what your view or opinion is. It's wrong no matter how you see it. It's not a debate between carnivores and vegetarians. This is life and death for a living creature. It's wrong. It is not a matter of opinion. Being an aquatic animal enthusiast myself, I find this very disappointing and sad.

  • I shouldn't have bought one.

  • LOL its not the Mexicans that are the problem, its the PEOPLE that dont know how to handle them, Ive worked with illegals friend, and they had my back 24/7

  • 2 words: illegal aliens. thats the problem.

  • ok fuck face what would some one illegal would be the problem its the training provided to them and the cheap company if they were to hire your fuckface they have to pay you 15 dollars an hour in CA and they pay 8.50 to an illegal so make the math who would the company hire fuck face if there is no proper training, tools what would the employee do

and i see color people there and they speak English i see whites there too so what the fuck are you talking about

  • Brookstone uses the rounded edge containers....they are in no way square. Animal house, Exploration toys, and Hallmark use the square containers.

  • @CubanCorndog actually i bought one at brookstone befor i watched this vedio and it was in a square containor. soo...

  • 2:30 this is not the tank that i received from Brookestone. However they may move the frogs into there own tanks... not likely though because they already look like they have the pebbles and plant in them

  • There are worse things in the world.

  • I hate wild creations. Each worker and boss deserves to be skinned and beaten to death.

  • @JacksterLark you deserve to be skinned and beaten to death

  • poor frogs

  • this is fake and i think brookstone takes good care of its frogs because i got the box, read the care sheet , then looked at a care sheet online and at petsmart and the brookstone one is just as good as all the others. if u want proof type in african dwarf frog care online and you will see. i believe brookstone should continue with these pets and i think they r a good idea and im buying them

  • for the record those are from hallmark not brookstone. Brookstone does not use the square containers nor have they ever used them.

  • actually they do. cause my broo got a square one from Brookstone.

  • Nah, I got this for xmas and it said brookstone on the box and my container is square

  • yeah they do

  • It sux to see that one freedom i love about being able to own my pets being abused by people who only care for money, in my opinion owning pets is fine and all but there need to be more regulation around it, if there isnt any change more and more animals warm or cold blooded will just wind up being put on farms like this one which is really sad

  • Honestly you people in PETA think that all animals are equal? and you care for all of them? I'd like to see you in a tank with a hungry ass shark. Then i would love to see how this beautiful animal doesnt rip you apart.

  • What's your point?

  • not gunna lie i agree the same im all for the protection of animals but they're quite extreme and if let up to them id loose my carreer in all area of animals and pets

  • Yeah, what is your point?

  • Animals are NOT objects, they are not a product.. when will people see that?

We can eat meat, but does that mean it has to be produced so cruelly?

There is no fair chance for cows at a factory to live.

That's the plus side of hunting... at least they have a chance to escape. (Not that Im not anti-hunting)

  • hey sykoman ur just a human i dont care fuck u and hope u die and plus lakes and oceans are vast and there is a vast majority of bacteria that breakdown waste there are also preadators that keep population down and those bins dont have those stuff

  • Frogs don't understand English. I'm surprised about how dumb those people are when they say,"Humans are the smartest" I guess they're devils, not humans.

  • You sir a DIPSHIT. :)

there i win cuz i didn't sound like a fag when i said it.

all this money is going towards animals that are going to die either way (cuz we need food) so its all going to waste when it could be going to curing diseases for children and dying HUMANS.

  • and since when did people farm frogs for food?

  • I'm assuming you were speaking into a mirror when you said that. If not, you should have been.

Wow, you really are an inconsiderate prick. Why are you trying to put on some sort of facade that you care for humans when you're using a word that contributes to unhappiness, outcasting, and general destruction of society.

  • im gonna get hate from people but in my honest opinion PETA is a very stupid organization. sure its fine to treat animals right but we need food, we need clothing, they're not people. and they say the water in the tanks weren't filtered? the water in the lakes and ponds and creeks and oceans aren't filtered and they do just fine there.

  • the thing is there are bacteria that eat waste(amonia) and that turns in to nitrite an then nitrate i dont support peta fully but think ecosytems work in a balance these animals are taken out of that and arent given the proper terraiums to function, im all for pets but they dont know how to care for animals and should be dealt with

  • If people didn't spend so much money and resources on factory farming we would have food to eat. Everyone would.

  • Too many people tend to think this is just a higher form of an inscet. In fact, most people are so used to seeing this living beings subjected to abuse and cruelty that they think it's normal without relaising they are living beings capable of emotions and responding to their environment. Every form of animal abuse or cruelty is unnecessary, too much and should be banned.

  • The next time someone says they evolved from other animals then I am calling PETA if they have an abortion!!

  • I remember seeing something like this at Target but instead with crabs... damn those people!

  • The TV News in Myrtle Beach said that the police have inspected this place and found no animal abuse and have closed the case. I've heard that the police even think that the video was faked and may charge PETA with filing a fake report. I hope you guys didn't do something stupid and try to fool a bunch of people.

  • You know a father threw his son into a trashcan because he called him by his first name, but nevermind, someone put tadpoles in a plastic bag

  • when i first saw this in the store i really didn't think anything about it i just thought u bougt the eggs and you grew them urself! Now this is wrong i hope the people who deal with animal welfare in this state close it down!

" Paul Watson

  • Oh my fucking goodness, I saw these innocent, abused frogs being sold at a toy store that I went to this week! It was at the register & I was like "Oh my God, what is this?" & the fat, ugly, white lady goes "Oh they're frogs, u can buy them. . . 'it's a thing'!!!" WTF! She called it a thing. . . like it's a TREND! I fucking ain't gonna buy shit from that store EVER AGAIN! Thank you Royale & PETA. 5 Stars.

  • wow your dumb...

  • Really? You get to say that to someone after the comments you made. That's a laugh.

  • i like frogs!

  • This is so sad.

  • WOW. PETA must sure be struggling to find stuff to complain about. I like the editing too. 5 days, and a snippet at a trade show and only a 3:45 minute video. I wonder what other stuff the left out that would have made the company look good. Oh and wow a dwarf frog died. Oh no! People are dying every day in the war. We really are a sad nation that we have to concern ourselves with little frogs. Where is PETA when people bye fish and they die after just a few days? Exactly

  • it's funny you have absolutely NO consideration for a species other than yourself. Can you be any more selfish?

  • patz: good to see you again! Keep spreading the word!

  • Yeah you can be less then human, Humans look out for humans its human nature and if you start looking out for animals more then you look out for humans then you start becoming less then human

  • You become superhuman when you look out for both the animal and humans.

  • awsome quote my friend

  • lunchbox: Yes, we really are a sad nation, not because of what you think, but BECAUSE we are so distanced from nature that we have it packaged in little bowls for stupid people to buy and discard when it dies, like it's a toy.

You, too, are sad, since you seem so uncaring about life. Your parents must have done a crappy job raising you to show no respect at all for your fellow animals.

PETA investigates many, many forms of cruelty, this is just one. You're the one who complains stupidly.

  • @MrLunchbox1975 ; Peta is concerned about fish too And not only Peta, other organisations too. And before you start about people only caring about (furry) animals; most people who care about animals also care about the environment and human rights. It's all about living beings whether they are animals or humans.

  • Thanks for speaking up for frogs, PETA.

  • this is just apaling..i wouldnt even grow a plant in those tanks!.. something needs to be done to stop this!

  • Drinking is different than living in. Think of this instead: You are living in a box with dirty air. You won't be able to live for too long. Also, if chemicals like chlorine are in a high enough concentration, the frog's skin will not work and he/she will suffocate.

  • who cares if the water isnt filtered? even i dont drink filtered water.

  • @missillie but you're alsno not kept captive in an environment that you piss and shit in and that you have to share with dead people around you right?

  • You also don't breath in or live in your drinking water. Water that comes directly out of the tap has proper oxygen levels for fish or aquatic frogs, etc to breath, but after a couple days of not filtering, the oxygen is used up. That is why you will see fish or frogs in unfiltered water coming to the surface to gasp for air. You need a filter, even at the very least a small air tube to reoxygenize the water but it should also have a filter to clean the rotten food particles and dead skin.

  • Yeah, but you also don't have to breathe that water.

  • And because you're clearly an idiot I'd like to point out that we all drink water that is filtered unless you're going outside and drinking from puddles or something.

  • umm frogs live in unfiltered water that they drink out of...

  • @missillie filtered water means that there's oxygen in it. If it isn't filtered they die very easily.

  • Better conditions than factory farms, that's for sure.

  • Brookstone is heartless.

  • Please brookstone - stop selling these cruel products!

  • You know a lot of assholes will say something like "they're just frogs!"...I'm making a response to this.

  • Actually I was gonna reply that, because guess what.. they are just frogs. Noncognitive beings worth absolutely nothing unless you make a hobby based around it, like PETA does.

  • I tottaly agree. People are making WAY to big a deal of this. I seems to me that the frogs all died of natural causes. And you know what? Their frogs! They don't live that long! Their not individuals, their FROGS! I'm not saying they are worthless but they ARE just frogs! Peta needs to pick it's battles. It needs focus on something like fur farms and not this crap!

  • Such a retarded argument, like saying your just HUMAN and who gives a SHIT wether YOU die, OH W8 YOUR not an INDIVIDUAL!

  • Humans are BS and worth nothing either....oops.

  • But they can feel pain and death and fright and panic. We don't need more of that in the world. Even from a tiny little frog. And every species is worth something.

  • How can you tell what a frog feels? Are you a frog? Animals arent sentient remember, most of them cant even process what is going on around them.

  • @Leekduck ; look at what scientist discoverd about fish; While it may seem obvious that fish are able to feel pain, some people still think of fish as swimming vegetables. In fact, regarding the ability to feel pain, fish are equal to dogs, cats, and all other animals. Dr. Donald Broom, scientific advisor to the British government, explains, "scientific literature is quite clear. Anatomically, physiologically and biologically, the pain system in fish is the same as in birds and mammals."

  • @Leekduck

2; Neurobiologists have long recognized that fish have nervous systems that comprehend and respond to pain, anyone who made it through Biology 101 knows that fish have nerves and brains that sense pain, just like all animals.

  • @Leekduck

part 3 last part; For example, fish (like "higher vertebrates") have neurotransmitters like endorphins that relieve suffering—of course, the only reason for their nervous systems to produce pain killers is to relieve pain. Claiming that fish do not suffer is as intellectually and scientifically sound as arguing that the Earth is flat.

It is clear the same counts for frogs. Animals are very aware of what's going on and respond to their environment.

  • you know what they are just frogs. go ahead and tell me off. i don't care. frogs are just frogs.

  • Ignorant people are just ignorant people.

  • omg, they're little african dwarf frogs!!! i've had these in my tank before and they require heated, filtered water... how can they not know that!?!? no wonder they die!!! i hate to see them dead, they are adorable little creatures when they're in a proper habitat and thriving. they need so much more space then that!!!!

  • poor lil frogs. That's wrong

  • Brookstone, obviously, will do anything for a buck.

Makes me wonder what the rest of their business dealings are like.

I think I'll stay away from them.

  • as much as i despise brookstone for this procedure, i dont hate the workers in the factory, i they obviously dont hsve more than a highschool education, so they have no idea what they are doing to the poor frogs

  • Whoa. I heard about the Frog-O-Spheres before and though shipping live anphibians was stupid. but I can't believe how terribly they treat them befroe being sent. Lets at least hope that the owners treat them better.

  • people are so dumb. that is all i have to say about this!

in nature i don't see animals using other animals for entertainment and pleasure other than for food, even then, it is not done in the sick manner people do. What has happened to us?

  • That really doesnt seem that bad...

  • Brookstone has lost my business, that much is certain.

  • Well, at least they can't say "We don't treat our frogs like that!"

  • Brookstone needs to wake up. Good job PETA!

  • Unbelieveable the things we humans do to animals...like they have no feelings. Thank you PETA for getting this out for the public to see.

  • This should be the wake up call that Brookstone needs to stop the needless suffering of live animals! Thank you again PETA!

  • omg, BROOKSTONE - STOP SELLING THESE FROGS!

  • One more reason to NOT BUY XMAS GIFTS FROM BROOKSTONE!

  • Wow--I HATE Brookstone for allowing this gross abuse happen. STOP SELLING FROG-O-SPHERES NOW!

  • wow, Brookstone should be ashamed and stop the sale of these cruel products immediately.

  • Thanks, PETA, for caring not just about the fluffy, cute animals, but the smallest of creatures as well.

  • I thought the idea of shipping frogs was ridiculous and awful to begin with, but this just makes it so much worse.

  • If Brookstone doesn't feel the pressure, they definitely will now. Nice work PETA!
