Great Demo and great playing. I just bought a Fender American Special Strat with Texas Special pups, and the Johnson you are playing sounds as good as my Strat at about $700 cheaper!! Of course in this case I think the player is about 90% of the sound. Thanks for posting :)
ITs still a big global secret , but Chinese make really goog guitars.....SX, Jonhson, .etc. They just need setting up. Putting name brand pickups helps, but often the stocker sound pretty good.
I have a cheap strat, is it good to put in a bridge humbucker because I don't have the budget at the moment to buy a good guitar what kind of humbuckers are good, I love to play punk rock and styles like that does anyone have tips
@niekolas Humbuckers are good but it depends on what type of music you play. For punk rock it may not be necessary to have a humbucker. If you want a humbucker then I love the sound of the Dimarzio tone zone but they are expensive. Try guitarfetish on the web for something cheaper.
@guitardbucket Yeah. I noted that connection also. I wish I didn't sell this guitar coz the pickups were really good considering the overall price of the guitar.
hi i have also a cheap strat like that.. 100 usd but the dist cant go to the lvl of dist i want.. can i change its pick up into humbucker to distort more?
@brdevilzyan Yes u can. A humbucker will help for sure. But that is not always the solution. Amplitube is doing most of the work here. A small modelling amp like the Peavey Vypyr will also do the trick. Good luck.
I like the No Quarter tag in this video, anyway, I would never expect to hear something like that from an $80 guitar, obviously you know what your'e doing, I like it!
you are a very talented guitarist. I wish I could play like you. How long have you been playing? I've been playing for 8 months. That's an awesome sounding guitar. It really has that thin spank of a strat.
Thanks man. I started playing more than 20 years ago but I took a break from serious playing for 15 years and took it up again last year. I still can't believe how good this guitar is for $80. Cheers.
why in the world you took a break for 15 years!? what happened ?! .. you are very talented! keep on rocking! :) and.. I have also a chinese guitar I bought it for $30 USD (Second hand) and sounds great because is mine:)
I could be that you were married, this sux man, big time .. I am married too, and guess.. I took a break for about 10 years... amazing. anyway..... don't let the guitar go this time :)
haha sounds like a fender strat. 80$? shit

I got a cheap Shinray which despite being light as my IQ was actually good enough for home practice (for $100)
BluePin75 7 months ago
@BluePin75 This guitar was definetely good enough for practice. You could probably even gig it. Almost makes me sad I got rid of it.

@laffingduck08 Unfortunately I got rid of the Johnson but I do miss it as the pickups were exceptionally good. Thanks for watching.

I know that either Johnson owns AXL, or AXL owns Johnson, and AXL uses EMG-designed pickups, so I'm not surprised Johnson does too.

MIJ isn't a bad alternative if you can't afford an American Strat. That one sounds nice though.

No shit bro...where the * did the last ten years go?
Enjoy your long (gray) hair if you wanna grow it back.
Nothing like a wife chained to your back to bitch about cranking up the amp or god forbid cracking open a cold one.
(maybe it's just me..., but GODDAMMIT MAN F*CK!)
I'm through will all the bullshit. Wish someone would have warned me.
Sighs
