When i was a kid in the 80's "Jesus died for his own sins, not mine" was graffittied on a wall in my local churchyard, it was there for years, and in my mind for alot longer. When i first heard of crass in 2002 this was the first songs i downloaded because of it's name, Listening to this song for the first time was like an epiphany for me.

I think of this as an anti-church song, not necessarily as an anti-Christian or anti-faith song.It basically portrays how organised religion fails to live up to Christian values, they oppress women, spread apathy, their is sexual deviancy among their ranks and so on.And of course the violence against innocents justified as " it is god's will' or "in the name of Christ".If you look at it in this context it isn't as ignorant as it may seem.
